I only ordered a handful of the "official" announcements to send to close family. I do plan to send a more casual grad announcement to extended family, friends, neighbors. Seems this is more the usual here in our area. The casual announcement usually includes a pic of the grad, along with plans after high school and sometimes any grad party info.Changing the topic from colleges for a moment… is your senior sending out graduation announcements? Is this still a thing?
We did not order any official announcements. Currently on the fence about a more informal photo type one. Will probably do them if nothing more than to use her senior pictures for something![]()

I hadn’t even thought of this. Thank you for the reminder! I did start the conversation with my daughter about a small party with immediate family and she is warming up to the idea. She really doesn’t like to be the center of attention so she agreed if we keep it small.Changing the topic from colleges for a moment… is your senior sending out graduation announcements? Thank you so much!Congratulations to your daughter! I love App State and the Boone area.
Congratulations! My son was also accepted to USF. Several relatives, including his mom, have gone there—it’s a very good school. He’s still holding out for UF, as well as some out of state schools (although he will have to get great financial assistance for those). It’s awesome to have the USF acceptance in his pocket though!Heard from University of South Florida today - accepted! Now she has to decide between ASU and USF. ASU offered to pay half tuition. Not sure if USF will offer anything.
Sending positive thoughts your way!FSU decisions are out in 2 days and I'm nervous.
My daughter just received her on campus housing assignment for fall. She is so disappointed! She is in an apartment with 5 other girls. All of the the other roommates are already 19 years old and returning students. All 5 of them are a friend group and requested to be roommates together.
My heart just sank when I saw that. My daughter is going alone and was really hoping that she would be put in a room with other new freshmen. I thought there was a very good chance of that since it is on campus housing.
The fact that they are already all a friend group and returning students makes it super hard and is not was she was envisioning. I'm so bummed! I just needed to vent this somewhere. I did call and the housing office was already closed. I'll call back tomorrow and try and request a room change, but it's probably not likely since they are already 100% full.
