Clarification needed on grad nights please

I was explaining grad nights to a friend who will also be in WDW next month. I told her about grad nights, but wasn't sure if she could still attend with an E ticket if she dared or is MK closed to the public and only allowing graduates in?

They close MK to the public. The MK is then opened up to groups (usually high school seniors from the surrounding areas) that I believe have use of the park into the wee hours of the morning. The general public and resort guests cannot attend these events.
