Question, but why does Shadow always have to do it?

in the past, it has been almost nessecary for the rest of us to understand what he is saying, but in this instance, he was quite clear, with or without minor grammatical mistakes. The only persons I ever correct to that extreme are my wife and my own kids.

Yea, I can see he's bad at typing, but why should only shadow Translate?

Well, I don't care, you may go ahead and do it next time if I don't get to it first. I just happened to do it first and now most people think I am the only one who can. I really don't care - save me the job of rewriting it, if you wish.

If someone has written a post that no one seems to understand, then helping them to be better understood is great, however, constantly correcting spelling mistakes, grammar, or punctuation really is not necessary. We don't want to discourage people from posting with the fear of being corrected if they make an error.

I agree that reading over your post before you hit the submit button is a great idea, but we all make mistakes from time to time. Let's just try to be a little more understanding. ;)

People who say CL_s are given nothing more over the other players is being blind. Of course we get something others don't get...extra responsibilties. We are encouraged and expected to be role models for the other players.

We don't get an advantage when it comes to getting in Host events. I NEVER get into them, ever. I believe I was able to get into two games my entire time playing...and that was by pure miracle (I never actually won any, but that is another thing lol).

I do notice some CL_s feel they are superior to others because of those extra letters in front of their titles, but I do believe most are kind and caring...not necessarily the rudest people in vmk.

I don't think it is necessary to correct someone over small grammar or spelling mistakes here. As long as the post is legible, I think it's fine to just let it go. Of course, if the post is not readable, then it might be necessary to point out a few things. This isn't a board about how to speak the English language. It is hoped everyone writes as best they can considering this is a public forum, but no one is perfect and mistakes are expected. The only time I correct someone extensively is if I am editing a paper that requires such corrections.

ETA: Lori, I'm sorry if the last bit of my post sounds slightly redundant after yours, lol, I took too long writing mine and you posted while I was responding. heh.

OK, I'm not going to rag on the whole concept of being a CL here (one day, I hope to become one :teeth: ), just a couple of quick things I have seen about it. Although I can't say much about actally being one (as I am not) I have got a couple of opinions on CL-dom.

For one, the majority of CLs are extremely nice people, and I think they are great fun to be around. They are usually not the type to say, "LOL U SOCK" when you get sunk in Pirates.

I have seen a few CLs let the power get to their heads. It's kind of odd to see a CL go up to another player and say, "I am a CL. If you do not give me rares right now, I can report you and you will get band." but I have seen it. It's absolutely disgusting to see that happen.

Lastly, I am rather sure that CLs get no better speed in getting to an event than the normal player does. I managed to pick up a good strategy for getting in right when they open, and on average end up around 10-20 people ahead of me. When I am in the room, the CL population is usually rather low, with maybe one or two CLs in the room. Now, unless by some miracle the large amount of CLs managed to get in the 10-20 spots, or have already gone through the I think 20ish (correct me if I'm wrong) spaces that rooms contain ahead of me, then that means that they aren't within the "low to no wait" class (at least in my opinion.)

Don't faint LD but I want to echo everything you just said.

I too am a CL, have been since right after BETA and it is things like this that make me want to give it up... I have one Staff member on my list and she is not a host and the fact is I have not seen or been in the same room with her in probably 5 months.

I do not appreciate that blanket statements have been made accusing CL of preferential treatment.....VMK is known to play favorites but you do not need a CL in front of your character name to get it.

I think an apology is due.

Well I would just like to answer the question that is asked in the name of this thread... my answer is NO.

I feel that some of the bad statements against CL_s is just plain jealousy.

I myself am trying to become a Community Leader, and I would not feel taller over the other players in VMK if I was one (by the way we are all the same height in VMK :teeth: ).

Same as Luna. I sign on a few minutes before the event, search for the room, and usually wait in a short line.

"I'm pretty sure that my friend (who is a CL_) gets into the host games right when they open. She has all the hosts on her list that are doing the events for this month; so I'm guessing that she follows the host into the room right when it opens; so she makes it into the line with a short line, or no line at all. I do not think this is fair that she and maybe other community leaders have this advantage over other players."
if it's me, i dont have all hosts :p
also im a leader but i have good ways and fast clicking fingers and i always login right before the host game starts :D. i make sure im not distracted and that's how i always get into host games

I was quoting Jasonpwns. I can't make it into those host games. I always forget they're starting. :rotfl:

Behavior like that should be reported, regardless of whether or not it was from a CL.

I agree. There are far too many players spreading rumors about CL's and it needs to stop. I think it should stop right here on the Dis. :)

With regards to grammar and spelling errors in posts....if I read a post and can't understand it, I usually don't reply to it. Problem solved. LOL Small errors can and should be overlooked. I know for myself, if someone were to correct me every time I opened my mouth, not only would they be constantly correcting me, but eventually I would stop talking altogether. :rotfl2:

As a CL, I was very offended when I read this post. I have 2 host staff on my friend list, and I still have trouble getting into the host games. I think a lot of negative things have been said about CL's, and it is not fair to us. I really don't think you should start a negative thread like this until you have the facts straight. It just shows ignorance or jealousy on your part.

Fact: I have host staff on my friend list
Fact: Host staff block their rooms (even to friends) before they open games
Fact: I have to wait in line like everyone else

I don't know about you, but I don't see an advantage there. When I am able to get into a host game, it is because I sit there and click and click until it lets me get in line. When someone exits a host game and I am sometimes lucky enough to click at the same time, so it lets me get in the long line like everyone else. If I am persistant, sometimes after about 15 minutes of clicking, I am lucky enough to get in a line of 49 people. So do I have an advantage over you? If I do, I don't see it.

I need to step in here, please pardon me. :)

Anyway... CL_'s do not have any advantage for anything besides having some staffers on their lists... from what I understand.

Now, for you CL_'s out there... I was thinking that there could be a way you might could get in before everyone else. Couldn't you click on the HOST_ and then click enter room until the button lights up? I am not saying CL_'s are doing that, but rather asking if that would even work. :)

If I can't read a post, I usually reply with a confused smiley indicating to the OP that he/she needs to reword or punctuate their post. Its easy and polite.

Hey. I have a Host_ person and a VMK_ person on my list. I can't get into the room if they are hosting a game because the room is BLOCKED to everyone until it goes public.

I wait in line, like everyone else. I can't speak for all CL's, but I hope this clears that matter up.

I have tried to enter host games by clicking from my friend list, but by the time the button lights up, I get the message that the queue for this room is too long. This happens every time I try to enter from friend list. I have much better luck getting in, by search popular guest rooms like everyone else.
