Can anyone please let me know some specifics about NYE on City Walk. We've done NYE at both IOA and UO but never City Walk. I found prices etc on the Universl website but would like to know a little more. What kind of food do they have - is it all buffett style? I'm thinking of purchasing the VIP pass which would include drinks. Has anyone ever done this and did you think it was worth it. What kind of drinks are included. Thanks so much for any help - this will be an expensive night and I want to make sure it will be worth it.

I haven't done it, but I've heard it's very crowded.
Personally, I'd buy a bottle of booze, get liquored up in the hotel room, and then watch the fireworks from the hotel walking path leading to City Walk. But if you wanna be part of the action and like crowds, go for it.

I have been to Citywalk for NYE twice before and loved it. The food is buffet style laid out all along the main walk through, it usually has filet mignon, shrimp, crab claws and plenty more. There is a free champagne toast at midnight in a plastic souvenir glass. Most of the clubs give away hats and necklaces etc which are fun to collect.
This year I have upgraded to VIP which apparently includes access to VIP lounges which have free drinks, but that is all I know about that. Lets hope it is worth the extra $60.
It is very crowded but it all adds to the fun. :grouphug:
Have fun whatever you decide to do :cool1:

Thanks so much for the info. Our "youngest" is now 21 and really looking forward to her first NYE as an "adult"! The food really sounds good and I think we'll go for the extra money for drinks. Hope you have a very happy, safe NYE!

HOw does one aquire these VIP passes for City Walk for New Years? We are staying at HRH and plan on being in City Walk for New Years. I have not been told anything about VIP passes. I would love to know more information. Also are the restraunts still open that evening? I saw mentioned something about buffet style food and wondered.

Thanks for any and all responses!!!!

You need to phone Universal and request the VIP upgrade when ordering the New Years Eve tickets. Unfortunately you can not order them on their website this year, so need to phone.
The restaurants are closed on New Years Eve as there is a buffet in the main Citywalk area.

We were planning on being at IoA the first part of the day on NYE. How do they block off Citywalk so that we can still get to the parking garage when we leave? thanks!

Oh, my thinking is that it wont be too crowded until after lunch because those staying until midnight wont be there at 8:00 a.m.. Anyone agree, disagree? Since they dont have free express pass should we skip it that day & go later?

Only the part of Citywalk near the clubs is closed off. You can still walk around the area near the lake and up to the movie theatre.
I can't remember how crowded it is on New Years Eve, but during the week after is it deserted during the mornings, you almost have the park to yourself.

Wow I was in shock over the price for tickets for City Walk for New Years. I wish they would have told me when I made my reservations a while back that it would cost a lot extra to have access to City Walk on New Years!
