City, Sand, and Savanna - Link to new trip report

So awesome how Lauren and James went right up and got their own photopass pictures! And they came out great. Surprised none of you did the same thing, but I guess it was just a spur of the moment thing. And the fact you got other photos in France, it suffices especially with James' awesome Perry hat. :thumbsup2

Wow, it's been awhile now since I've seen pictures of Aurora in her old dress. Will never understand why they needed to change that after so many years. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And none of them look like they did in their movies anymore. Especially Belle in her yellow dress. *shakes head* But I digress. The pictures look great.

Serveur Amusant is such a cool show. I only got to see it on my first trip right as he was getting to the final chair. You can't really how high he actually is in photos, it's crazy! Those guys deserve a lot of credit.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Great update!

We usually rush past the street performers, but we took the time to watch Serveur Amusant once and we loved it. It's fun to watch. Of course, it never fails that we get to the drummers in Japan just as they are starting and just as my youngest is falling asleep in her stroller, so we really rush past them. :rotfl2:

We watch the France movie every trip. It's a great break and very relaxing. I may or may not "rest my eyes" at some point.

We did one Perry mission in Norway and it was just too long and there were too many people trying to do it at the same time. We may try another one next trip.

Great PP pictures of the family. They turned out great!

So I am curious what the beer steins do in the Agent P mission. That was my favorite Kim Possible mission, especially enhanced by a couple adult beverages.

Glenn - I would LOVE to see you try to balance on those chairs. :rotfl2: But don't quit your day job just yet. :rotfl2:

I'm with you, it looks pretty darn dangerous, which is what they're going for obviously. Yeah, maybe if some kind of pin drops in and locks them together that would help. Interesting. :scratchin

that is my thinking exactly

I'm hungry! I need to see Biergarten. ;)

Have you already taken another trip since this TR has been going on?

I live close to Cedar Point. We went a few weeks ago.

Hiya beachmama3 and :welcome: You're not too late because it appears that I am going for the record of the most drawn-out trip report! Woo hoo! ;) We still have the rest of this Epcot day to finish (and we arent even to lunch yet), a day at Universal with a Polynesian Luau in the evening and then the wrap-up. So, plenty more to go.

Oh, that'll be great. Its not too hard to get psyched-up for a Disney trip, is it? Where're you staying?

Oh good! I am thinking that my sons (11, 9, and 6) are probably at a good age for both Universal and the Luau, may have to book those within the next year! I am a big HP fan so I think seeing Hogwarts would be awesome.

We are staying at POR. Counting down the days!

Loved all the World Showcase pics. We did parts of the Agent P Adventure last year and I def remember parts of it from Kim Possible!

I was really happy that they'd done that!

I don't think that Marlene and I saw any, coming in through the IG entrance, but yeah, Poppy, Gram, and Judy should've gotten some.

Stacey and Clinton made her throw it in the garbage can, along with the hanger.

You're right, he is incredibly high. It's actually kinda scary.

You should just drum at home when she's asleep, so she gets used to it. There ya go...problem solved! :teeth:

:rotfl2: So what happens in it?

We did one Perry mission in Norway and it was just too long and there were too many people trying to do it at the same time. We may try another one next trip.

Well it wasn't from people who were assigned the mission 15+ minutes beforehand, I can tell you that. :headache:

Great PP pictures of the family. They turned out great!

Thanks MEK!

So I am curious what the beer steins do in the Agent P mission. That was my favorite Kim Possible mission, especially enhanced by a couple adult beverages.

Apparently they sang. Is that the same as the Kim Possible mission?

Glenn - I would LOVE to see you try to balance on those chairs. :rotfl2: But don't quit your day job just yet. :rotfl2:

I've got a long list of things I should not quit my day job for!

that is my thinking exactly

I think we're onto them.

I'm hungry! I need to see Biergarten. ;)

It's dinnertime as I type this....I would love to be there right now too!

Have you already taken another trip since this TR has been going on?

No. I took James and a couple of friends to Six Flags in NJ, and then we had the family trip to Martha's Vinyard for a wedding, and that's really all we're doing this year. Projects at work aren't really allowing me to take time off
for long stretches. But that's okay, we need to save our DVC points for hopefully Aulani and the Grand Californian next year.

I live close to Cedar Point. We went a few weeks ago.

Lauren went there a couple of years ago on a band trip. She likes 'coasters, so it was a hit with her.

Oh good! I am thinking that my sons (11, 9, and 6) are probably at a good age for both Universal and the Luau, may have to book those within the next year! I am a big HP fan so I think seeing Hogwarts would be awesome.

Well stay-tuned then....but I hope you're not in too big of a hurry. ;)

We are staying at POR. Counting down the days!

I love POR! My first trip report, in my signature, starts out with a stay at POR. :thumbsup2

Loved all the World Showcase pics. We did parts of the Agent P Adventure last year and I def remember parts of it from Kim Possible!

Those missions are a lot of fun; a great addition to the World Showcase, especially for the younger crowd.

You know, you got some REALLY good whole-family PP shot - that is just priceless.

Loved the Server Amusant pics. I have a dream that one day I will actually get to enjoy some of the incredible Epcot entertainment. Maybe DD6 will be old enough this year - in TWO WEEKS!!!!!! pixiedust:

Oops, I'm sorry! I apologize. :flower3: I was getting a lot of grief over how long this TR is taking, and thought you were jumping on the bashwagon. :) I know what you mean though -- I'm having a hard time keeping up on a lot of TRs too.

Yeah, I'm hoping my girls aren't getting any ideas though. I'm hoping they'll be happy with a reception at the local firehall, catered by the ladies auxiliary, like their mom and dad had. Whattaya think my odds are?
Oh, normally, I would be one to jump on that kind of bandwagon, but for some reason, I am just having a heck of a time keeping up with just a few TRs. I am thrilled when people slow it down! :rotfl2:

I think that sounds perfect - less snooty. I'm hoping my daughter will be reading this soon.......

Just keeping up!!!And waiting for the next update ,so I can NOT be the first as Marv is constantly watching ,he is like the energizer bunny he just keeps going and going !!!:rotfl2:

Thanks Roni.

I hope so! But you really need to try to get excited about your upcoming visit - in TWO WEEKS!!!!!

I understand! Well hey, I'm glad that my pacing is working out for you. :goodvibes

Here's hoping!

Just keeping up!!!And waiting for the next update ,so I can NOT be the first as Marv is constantly watching ,he is like the energizer bunny he just keeps going and going !!!:rotfl2:

You'll just have to start constantly watching too....what could be more important? :confused3

Sounds like everyone had a good time at the World Showcase. And all three kids got a special event for them!

The film in France was shot around 1980. No wonder the fashions are dated!! :goodvibes But I think since the updated it with digital projections, it is really wonderful in colours. And the landscape and historic buildings don't change that much. Well, the Eiffel Tower no longer has a car park underneath it.

Am looking forward to your impressions about Biergarten!! I will be able to write about a meal there in my trip report as well!

Not me that is always watching. By his own admission, that would be Mark!!! ;)

Well I hope he's watching now!

It's that old? No wonder! Yes, I'm sure that the buildings look pretty much the same. Interesting that the Eiffel Tower had a car park underneath it back then.

Am looking forward to your impressions about Biergarten!! I will be able to write about a meal there in my trip report as well!

Ooo, I'm looking forward to your review more than mine! I think this is the third time that I've written about Biergarten, so I'm running out of things to say!

Looks like it's time for an update.

Once again Marlene and I were the last to rejoin the group, this time for our 1 o'clock ADR at Biergarten. Even Lauren beat us there, and I was worried that she'd be late with the long line that she was in to meet Aurora. And yes, even Gram and Poppy beat us there, shuffling across several countries from France to Germany, which are neighbors in real-life, but not here in the World Showcase. Go figure.

Judy saw somebody else playing the Agent P mission and asked me to get a picture of Perry the Platypus in the window above the restaurant, since she'd missed it.

Oh, and "Spoiler Alert"!

IMG_6660.jpg

I think that the flower in his hat is a nice touch.

I turned around and Marlene had called one of the phone booths elsewhere in the World Showcase. I think it was in the one in near the bathrooms in Germany, the building just to the left of the miniature trains. I asked her about it while I was writing this update and she didn't think that she got anybody to answer on this particular occasion, but she sure loves that gag. I'm surprised she hasn't tried it from home.

IMG_6661.jpg

We had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Lauren is obviously thrilled that I have the camera out.

IMG_6662.jpg

IMG_6663.jpg

I know I mentioned it in my pre-trip report, but we've eaten at this restaurant the last three trips now. I tried to change it up and try someplace new, but the kids wouldn't hear of it. They love it. Plus, Poppy's ancestry is German, so he was going to love the food here.

IMG_6664.jpg

Okay, once finally inside, it was time for some blurry, no-flash pictures of the kids. Lauren and Marlene were to my right...

IMG_6665.jpg

...and James was to my left. But look beyond him, they sat us right next to the buffet. Thank you, Biergarten table-assigning cast member! I don't want to get winded, running back and forth to the buffet.

IMG_6666.jpg

Soon after we were seated, the oom-pah band came out and started oom-pah-ing. Their real name is "Oktoberfest Musikanten", but if I say "oom-pah band" you know exactly what I mean. I always plan my ADR time to be a few minutes before theyre scheduled to play, and I use this great website, wdwent.com maintained by Steve Soares, to keep track of the entertainment times, particularly for the World Showcase. Ideally, I like to be seated and have my first plate of food so that I can enjoy listening to them while I eat. It didn't exactly work out that way this time, but it was fine. I took a couple of pictures and then ducked back to the buffet.

IMG_6667.jpg

IMG_6668.jpg

Here was my first plate of samplings. I am totally mailing-in this food review, I didn't write anything down regarding what was what. But hey, it's German food, there's a roll, a couple of sausages, some sauerkraut and slaw, potatoes and potato salad, and a meatball. Hey, I think I did pretty well. Oh, and there's some soup there too. I'm pretty sure that's the cream of potato and leeks.

IMG_6669.jpg

I tried to take a picture of Poppy and Gram and they each took turns being a blur.

IMG_6670.jpg

IMG_6671.jpg

Hey, there we go! Ein Prosit! (Hum "Roll Out the Barrel" to yourself.)

IMG_6672.jpg

I knew that the band wouldn't play for too much longer, so went to get a couple more pictures before I got my next plate of food.

IMG_6673.jpg

They really are a lot of fun, and add to the experience at Biergarten. Just look at how the people in these pictures are watching them.

IMG_6674.jpg

A shot of the room.

IMG_6675.jpg

Is it safe for that woman to be holding a child on her lap right in front of that Ricola horn?

IMG_6676.jpg

Here are a couple more plates of food that I, ah "sampled". You probably recognize most of the items, but on this plate the stuff in the middle is Spaetzle, and at the bottom is Wiener Schnitzel. (Schnitzel Wiener Art, or Breaded Pork Vienna Style, per allears.net) The schnitzel served in the actual city of Vienna (Wien) is much better, pounded so thin that covers your plate, but I dont know when I'll ever get back there, so this is a good substitute.

IMG_6677.jpg

Some last minute things to try before moving on to dessert.

IMG_6678.jpg

I had some definite opinions on which desserts I liked best, and now I can't remember. In this picture, at the top is Rote Gruetze with Vanilla Sauce, then Blackforest Cake, then Apple Strudel, and Bavarian Cheese Cake. I think my favorite might have actually been the cheesecake.

IMG_6679.jpg

You may remember that way back in this post of the trip report, Lauren saw "WW" on my schedule for the week and wondered what it was. The kids had been guessing all week long but we wouldn't tell them, only promising that we'd let them know before Friday. At some point during the week, they pinned us down on exactly when we'd tell them and we set the big reveal for lunch at Biergarten on Thursday. Well, here we were.

I told them that "WW" stood for "Wizarding World" (as in "of Harry Potter", but I couldnt use "WWoHP" or they would have surely guessed it in two-seconds flat) and they were all "We KNEW it!". I think I'm lucky that it was Wizarding World...if it had been anything less, I'd have been in trouble. Even though they suspected that's what it was, they were psyched. Tomorrow would be something to look forward to, for sure.

Other than that, apparently I thought up a slogan for Biergarten while I was there because in my notes I wrote "their wurst is the best!". Ba dum bum.

Just before we left to go do more "stuff", the kids encouraged me to take a picture of the Hamburg flag.

IMG_6680.jpg

No, it wasnt because our family came over from Hamburg (although they may have, I have no idea), or that we've ever been to Hamburg, or have any affinity for Hamburg. It's kind of a family joke. My mom (yes, Gram, in this TR) always referred to hamburgers as a "hamburg". Drove me nuts. "Do you want a hamburg?" "No, I want a hamburg-er." "Hamburg-er." "Er, er, ER!"

Okay. Sorry. I feel better now.

Rosie beat me, but I actually read the update.

Food and entertainment looks great. I ate here on our 2009 trip without DH. I keep trying to get him to try it since he loves meat and potatoes so much.

Well the surprise is out of the bag but now they get to spend time planning what they want to do. And I'm glad you finally got a good picture of your parents.

I saw 3. The two pictures with the girls and her arm next to Poppy in the blurry picture.
