City, Sand, and Savanna - Link to new trip report

I have NO German heritage ,BUT love the Biergaten Buffet !! Even though I don't eat boiled cbbage I do eat sauerkraut , their roast pork is my favorite !!

I am so proud to have been the first to post even if my answer is wrong ,:rotfl2:Buyou di comment on where you and the kids were sitting so I am thnking that I have a good shot that it is Judy's arm or some total stranger :rotfl2:

Oh! One of my favorite restaurants at WDW!

I dream of the potato leek soup with the pretzel rolls. I probably shouldn't admit that.

My trip is usually complete when I get the soup, the rolls, and the band plays "Edelweiss". That's my happy place.

Great review! Seems like you had a lot of different samples of the food! My review is still a little while away (need to finish the cruise portion first and then we need to spend a few days at WDW before we head there), but I can tell you that my visit there was a success! :goodvibes

ETA: Not sure I see a cheesecake on your plate, the white cake seems to be a fruit cake with streusel...

Glad to see a Glenn update today (even if I didn't count the Judy's).

I'm glad you had a good meal at Biergarten. When we went two years ago (?), it was awful. They had chicken schnitzel instead of veal schnitzel and I was not happy. Actually, we weren't happy with any of the meal. It's a shame too because it used to be a favorite.

Thanks for the link to that site for entertainment in World Showcase. That is great to have. Maybe we'll give Biergarten another try in a couple of years...we do enjoy the band immensely.

It's a fun place and a great family option with the entertainment, especially for a larger group. I'm kind of with you on it but my kids won't hear of not going on the next trip.

I love the Agent P spoiler, that is pretty darn cute.

I didn't even think to check the times for music around our reservation, arrgh. We have an 8pm and they play at 8:05. Not sure if that will change as it's NYE? Wonder if I should try to move our ressie to 7:45 or something.

Once again Marlene and I were the last to rejoin the group, this time for our 1 o'clock ADR at Biergarten. Even Lauren beat us there, and I was worried that she'd be late with the long line that she was in to meet Aurora. And yes, even Gram and Poppy beat us there, shuffling across several countries from France to Germany, which are neighbors in real-life, but not here in the World Showcase. Go figure.
So... you're saying you're the slow one in the family??? :confused3 :lmao:

Judy saw somebody else playing the Agent P mission and asked me to get a picture of Perry the Platypus in the window above the restaurant, since she'd missed it.
That is clearly not Perry the Platypus.

It is Agent P. Come on now, he has the hat on. You know better than that.

But look beyond him, they sat us right next to the buffet. Thank you, Biergarten table-assigning cast member! I don't want to get winded, running back and forth to the buffet.
That's a lucky break. It is always a strategic advantage to be close to the food at a buffet. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I told them that "WW" stood for "Wizarding World" (as in "of Harry Potter", but I couldn’t use "WWoHP" or they would have surely guessed it in two-seconds flat)
I still can't believe you used WW. I would think a master of spreadsheets and planning, such as yourself, would come up with some kind of unique code that would completely throw them off course.

Even though they suspected that's what it was, they were psyched. Tomorrow would be something to look forward to, for sure.
::yes::

But you really should have told them that WW stood for Wet n Wild. You know, just to mess with them a little more. :rolleyes1

Other than that, apparently I thought up a slogan for Biergarten while I was there because in my notes I wrote "their wurst is the best!". Ba dum bum.
Let me guess what kind of reaction you got from your kids...

:rolleyes2

It's kind of a family joke. My mom (yes, Gram, in this TR) always referred to hamburgers as a "hamburg". Drove me nuts. "Do you want a hamburg?" "No, I want a hamburg-er." "Hamburg-er." "Er, er, ER!"

Okay. Sorry. I feel better now.
:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Well you better get on photoshop and fix the typo on that flag then. :lmao:

Man, Biergarten always looks so fun. I wish I could go and order a cheeseburger! Also, now that I can't drink beer, it seems like it would be a depressing environment.
In my dreams, I will go to Biergarten with a restaurant full of non-drinkers and there will be one lone cheeseburger on the buffet table waiting for me!

I cannot WAIT for the HP update. I love Harry almost more than Disney but have never had the urge to leave property and go somewhere non-Disney.
Maybe someday! But now with the expansion I may as well wait for that to be done!

Wow Really blew it this time.

I would love to try Biergarten but believe it or not ( with my mother being German and all ) I am not big on German food.

Also slightly afraid of a buffet of unknown items. :scratchin

Looks like the family had another great meal there.

Okay make that 4 if that is Judy'd arm next to Poppy !!!!

I miscounted the pix of Judy and the girls so my first answer 3 was right 2 Judy's wirh the girls and 1 Judy arm!!!! But I conceded that my 4 was incorrect !!:goodvibes

The Rules Committee isn't ready to award a winner just yet, although Rosie's had answers all over the map. :faint:

They're asking that submissions be entered with the picture # for this round.

Rosie beat me, but I actually read the update.

Thank you for reading!!!

Food and entertainment looks great. I ate here on our 2009 trip without DH. I keep trying to get him to try it since he loves meat and potatoes so much.

I'd think it'd be an easy sell if he likes meat and potatoes!

Well the surprise is out of the bag but now they get to spend time planning what they want to do. And I'm glad you finally got a good picture of your parents.

Yep, they finally knew, although before they suspected.

I saw 3. The two pictures with the girls and her arm next to Poppy in the blurry picture.

The Rules Committee has your submission noted. :)

I have NO German heritage ,BUT love the Biergaten Buffet !! Even though I don't eat boiled cbbage I do eat sauerkraut , their roast pork is my favorite !!

Pretty close to bangers and mash?

I am so proud to have been the first to post even if my answer is wrong ,:rotfl2:Buyou di comment on where you and the kids were sitting so I am thnking that I have a good shot that it is Judy's arm or some total stranger :rotfl2:

:rolleyes1

Oh! One of my favorite restaurants at WDW!

My kids' too, apparently!

I dream of the potato leek soup with the pretzel rolls. I probably shouldn't admit that.

:rotfl2: Sigmund Freud'd be pretty disappointed with that particular dream.

My trip is usually complete when I get the soup, the rolls, and the band plays "Edelweiss". That's my happy place.

Sounds good to me! :goodvibes

Great review! Seems like you had a lot of different samples of the food! My review is still a little while away (need to finish the cruise portion first and then we need to spend a few days at WDW before we head there), but I can tell you that my visit there was a success! :goodvibes

Oh great! I'm glad that you liked it...it would be kind of disappointing if you came back and reported that it wasn't very authentic, or that the taste wasn't on par. So that's great to hear, and I'm looking forward to what you have to say.

ETA: Not sure I see a cheesecake on your plate, the white cake seems to be a fruit cake with streusel...

Oh really? I think we thought that was the cheesecake at the time (not just that my memory's bad now), but we could've gotten it mixed up. I still think that might have been one of my preferred desserts.

Hi, Glenn! Super long time lurker here, but I've been moved to make a comment. Hamburg v hamburger, ugh! Being born and raised in WI, I am familiar with German culture. Never in my life has anyone ever said anything but hamburger. However, my DH is from northern New England. His whole (large) extended family only says hamburg - plus he says it, too. Drives me crazy! And just last month we were out to visit and I actually saw it that way in a restaurant menu. Hamburg is a city, not a food!

Very much enjoying your trip report! Gram and Poppy are too adorable.

That is all... Back to lurking... :)

Glad to see a Glenn update today (even if I didn't count the Judy's).

That's quite all right. Thanks for reading.

I'm glad you had a good meal at Biergarten. When we went two years ago (?), it was awful. They had chicken schnitzel instead of veal schnitzel and I was not happy. Actually, we weren't happy with any of the meal. It's a shame too because it used to be a favorite.

Oh wow, that's too bad. The recipe now says "pork" schnitzel, which is a step up at least. That dish is kind of a centerpiece to the meal, so they should keep it as authentic as possible, in my opinion.

Thanks for the link to that site for entertainment in World Showcase. That is great to have. Maybe we'll give Biergarten another try in a couple of years...we do enjoy the band immensely.

I always look at that site when planning, and as the trip gets closer. And then about a week before I'll copy the times into a document to take with me.

I hope you give it another try sometime. Yes, the band makes it a fun experience!

It's a fun place and a great family option with the entertainment, especially for a larger group. I'm kind of with you on it but my kids won't hear of not going on the next trip.

Exactly...I like it, but what other neat places am I missing? :confused3

I love the Agent P spoiler, that is pretty darn cute.

:)

I didn't even think to check the times for music around our reservation, arrgh. We have an 8pm and they play at 8:05. Not sure if that will change as it's NYE? Wonder if I should try to move our ressie to 7:45 or something.

Something you forgot to check? I can't believe it! :faint:

It's up to you, but yes, I like to shoot for about 15 minutes before they perform. But being New Year's Eve, who knows if the schedule will be the same as it is now, during summer?

So... you're saying you're the slow one in the family??? :confused3 :lmao:

No, I'm the fastest, but that means that I also try to fit other stuff in on my way to the restaurant. :rolleyes2

That is clearly not Perry the Platypus.

It is Agent P. Come on now, he has the hat on. You know better than that.

<hangs head in shame>

That's a lucky break. It is always a strategic advantage to be close to the food at a buffet. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

You better believe it!

I still can't believe you used WW. I would think a master of spreadsheets and planning, such as yourself, would come up with some kind of unique code that would completely throw them off course.

You're right, but I really never expected them to look at the schedule. They never have before! But when Gram pulled one out, it was like, hey why don't we have a schedule???

But you really should have told them that WW stood for Wet n Wild. You know, just to mess with them a little more. :rolleyes1

<smacks head> Where were you when I needed help with this?

Let me guess what kind of reaction you got from your kids...

:rolleyes2

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

It's like you were there!

Well you better get on photoshop and fix the typo on that flag then. :lmao:

:rotfl2:

Did you know people from Hamburg are Hamburgers?

:rotfl: And people from Paris are Parisites!

Man, Biergarten always looks so fun. I wish I could go and order a cheeseburger! Also, now that I can't drink beer, it seems like it would be a depressing environment.

When I read that you can't drink beer, and then noticed your new PTR link in your signature, I went looking to see if had an announcement of some happy news. But I found that you discovered you're allergic to brewer's yeast! That is crazy! Of all people.

In my dreams, I will go to Biergarten with a restaurant full of non-drinkers and there will be one lone cheeseburger on the buffet table waiting for me!

At buffet prices, it won't be worth it. But maybe you could make your own, with a roll and some sliced meat from the carving station?

I cannot WAIT for the HP update. I love Harry almost more than Disney but have never had the urge to leave property and go somewhere non-Disney.
Maybe someday! But now with the expansion I may as well wait for that to be done!

I can't guarantee that my review will be much different from several others you can read on the DIS...except for the one spoiler picture I have. ::yes::

Wow Really blew it this time.

I dunno, the Rules Committee hasn't crowned a winner for this round yet.

I would love to try Biergarten but believe it or not ( with my mother being German and all ) I am not big on German food.

Starch and meat, what else do you need? I mean other than bacon.

Also slightly afraid of a buffet of unknown items. :scratchin

Yeah, I can believe that. The item we had to look out for was peas, and they don't occur too much in German food.

Looks like the family had another great meal there.

Yep, a good time!

Hi, Glenn! Super long time lurker here, but I've been moved to make a comment.

Hi lilaurora! :welcome: Thanks for the comment!

That is too funny! I'm glad someone can relate! If it's a New England thing, I have no idea why my mom says it, she doesn't come from that area. Just something to drive me crazy.

Very much enjoying your trip report! Gram and Poppy are too adorable.

That is all... Back to lurking... :)

Well thanks! Okay, head back, but I'm glad to know that you're out there!

I'm going with two Judy's. Pictures 3 and 4 of the first post. I'm guessing you and the kids were on one side of the table, and Judy was actually occupying the empty seat beside the railing in the picture everyone thinks contains Judy's arm.

Looks like an entertaining and enjoyable meal at Biergarten. We haven't been and don't really think it is my family's style. It looks too, you know, fun.

WW on WW!

woot-woot on the Wizarding World!

IMG_6677.jpg

I just have to ask, Are you someone who doesn't like their food to touch? :rotfl: This plate is far too neat.

Biergarten is a lot of fun - good food and good entertainment.

Glad that baby stay in her mother's arms. :rotfl:

Fun update!

No points yet? Hmmmmm:scratchin

I see #3 and #4 are obvious but the arm does look a bit tan for Judy.

Maybe just those 2 although I am not ruling out a table reflection.. :rotfl2: kidding.

The arm in question is #11, just saying.... :wave2:

Hmmm, that first photo appears to be missing a thumb.

Honestly, what more does one need from a food review... Here's a picture... here's what it is... done. That's my kind of dining report!!

I've never actually been in there, but it looks really cool. :cool2:

Haha, I think the woman with the child was just protecting herself. Probably not even her kid.

"their wurst is the best!" I love that!! :rotfl:

HA, my father says the EXACT SAME THING!! Ham-berg!!. Dad, it's THREE syllables. Drives me nuts too. Of course he also says "Chi-CAR-go" instead of Chicago. :sad2:

I know it's a little away, but I can't wait to hear about your thoughts on WW.
