City, Sand, and Savanna - Link to new trip report

Great update for the kids! James got Agent P x2, Marlene got her french movie (I love that one actually!) and Lauren got her Aurora picture.

Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, you're right...I hadn't looked at it that way. Man, the things we do for them! I think Judy and I deserve a trip of our own.

I have always wondered just what the weird pointed hand signature more really means...by any princess. It LOOKS uncomfortable. Like it's meant to hold their skirt up while dancing but they forgot they dropped their skirt.

Yes, and I'm just imagining the backstage practice sessions where this move is taught and rehearsed over and over. Right next door to where they learn the signatures, I'm sure.

It was now about 11:30am, and we had 3 separate parties converging on Epcot's World Showcase. As you learned in the previous chapter, Marlene and I were arriving from DHS by way of Friendship Boat and a little walk through the Boardwalk; Lauren and James were coming by bus from Animal Kingdom, and Judy, Gram, and Poppy were coming by bus from Kidani.

This is quite a bit of coordination. How did this look on your spreadsheet?:confused3

Lauren and James noticed a Photopass photographer on their way into Epcot and they stopped for a few pictures. Have I got them trained or what?

:thumbsup2

Of course, we had to have a little fun at the UK phone booths, but I just called the kids...we didn't get any passers-by to pick up, although the kids wanted to show that little trick to Gram and Poppy.

I heard a nasty rumor you couldn't call these phones anymore. Hope that's not true.

One thing in the World Showcase that I had never done, that my little Francophile (that's a lover of all things French) Marlene wanted to do, was to catch the movie in the France pavilion, so we headed that way.

I can't remember ever watching that movie either. Which is not to say I haven't seen it.:rolleyes1

He was okay with it though, because he really had no interest in seeing the wonders of France cinematographically. (My wording, not his. In case you were wondering.) When we got back to the others, Judy offered to take him on his Agent P mission because she was worried that the movie might be one of those big-screen motion-sickness-inducing productions anyway. So all was well.

Wow, Judy really took one for the team there.:rolleyes1

Meanwhile, while you're doing that, imagine the rest of us in the theater in France, watching the movie. Mostly awake.

:lmao::rotfl2:

With pictures like this, I don't even need to post a "spoiler alert"!

:sad2:

I think this one was used back when they were Kim Possible missions.

2012-06-28124756.jpg

That's one of my favorites!

Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice, er I mean the France pavilion, the rest of us finished watching the movie. It was nice. Which is a nice way of saying that I don't remember much of it.

Sounds about right.

The only note I wrote down was that the fashions looked dated. But hey, it was fine, and another never done was now done.

I shouldn't keep cropping her hand out of the pictures. That's her signature move.

Count me in the crowds that doesn't really "get" the hand thing either.

Now this is a show I have yet to see...and I want to.

No, most of the other pictures were of the wedding and reception. The only other one that we're all in is this classy one:

IMG_0942_zps6e869383.jpg

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Well, despite your lack of thorough research you lucked-out and got it right. This time. :cheer2: You've moved into 3rd place on the leaderboard!

:woohoo::cool1::yay:

I know I won't catch Marv, but it's nice to finally get a chapter where he didn't respond within 8 seconds of you posting it.

It was now about 11:30am, and we had 3 separate parties converging on Epcot's World Showcase.
A well-coordinated invasion from 3 directions. Doofenschmirtz wants the Tri-State area, Glennbo wants the World... (showcase).

One thing in the World Showcase that I had never done, that my little Francophile (that's a lover of all things French) Marlene wanted to do, was to catch the movie in the France pavilion, so we headed that way.
I can't even believe this. Another first time thing for Glennbo?

Wait a minute... Did you just say there's a movie in the France pavilion??? :rolleyes1

Oops, James is battling the sunglare.
I don't see even see him anywhere. It looks like Agent P has photobombed your family though.

When we signed him up we learned that he only had 15 minutes to start his mission, which is a little too restrictive, in my opinion.
That seems a little ridiculous.

The koi pond. I don't think it was part of the mission, but was just too photogenic to pass up.
That's what they want you to think...

Which is a nice way of saying that I don't remember much of it. The only note I wrote down was that the fashions looked dated.
It wouldn't be a World Showcase movie if the fashions didn't look dated. :rotfl2:

And Lauren wanted to get in line for photopass pictures with her favorite princess, Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty.
I've got to be honest. I never knew she was anybody's favorite. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

While she was in line for those pictures, Marlene and I were watching Serveur Amusant!
I love that show. That really is some impressive balancing.

Well Crud - now I am a :bride: to Mark......

and he is creeping up on me. I need to get on the ball - or stick or whatever it is. :lmao:

Need to go back and read now...

Not bad for a spur of the moment plan B morning to have everyone meet up like that. Great when everyone can do what they want or ned to do and then come back together.

I have seen the France movie once and been thwarted a few times. Late night EMH and it was closed already and possible timing issues the rest.

Ready for Biergarten.

Haha, you know you would think Disney would come up with a way to make the sun not shine in our eyes during photos. Or maybe James was just winking in that second photo...

OMG that "thumb" photo is genius. :rotfl2:

It's so retro seeing Aurora in the old dress. Remember wayyyyy back in 2012 before the dress change and you could buy bread for a nickel and still have enough left over to see a movie?

OMG Glenn, that family photo at the wedding... CLASSIC!!!!!

Wow, you guys all got a lot done and still coordinated getting back together. Love it when a plan comes together! ::yes::

I still need to catch the Serveur Amusant and the film in France!

I know I won't catch Marv, but it's nice to finally get a chapter where he didn't respond within 8 seconds of you posting it.
Three minutes?? :confused3 Looks like Glenn has a new stalker! :rolleyes1

I better start keeping watch over my shoulder........... :worried:

This is quite a bit of coordination. How did this look on your spreadsheet?:confused3

It looked great. I used "swimlanes", a project-management technique.

I heard a nasty rumor you couldn't call these phones anymore. Hope that's not true.

I haven't heard that. 'Course I haven't tried the numbers in a long time. I hope it's not true too.

I can't remember ever watching that movie either. Which is not to say I haven't seen it.:rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

Wow, Judy really took one for the team there.:rolleyes1

Kinda like earlier in the trip, when I stayed at the parks with the kids to make sure they got back okay?

Sounds about right.

Proves I was there. I think.

Count me in the crowds that doesn't really "get" the hand thing either.

It's just one more aspect of her personality, I guess.

Now this is a show I have yet to see...and I want to.

I was really glad to finally catch it. I mean, see it. The guy didn't need catching, although it looked like he might!

We look an awful lot like that family, don't we?? :rotfl2:

I know I won't catch Marv, but it's nice to finally get a chapter where he didn't respond within 8 seconds of you posting it.

You did great! :thumbsup2

A well-coordinated invasion from 3 directions. Doofenschmirtz wants the Tri-State area, Glennbo wants the World... (showcase).

It's kind of fun to do the impossible!

I can't even believe this. Another first time thing for Glennbo?

A couple of 'em. The movie, and Serveur Amusant.

Wait a minute... Did you just say there's a movie in the France pavilion??? :rolleyes1

It's air conditioned!

I don't see even see him anywhere. It looks like Agent P has photobombed your family though.

Oh, there you are, Perry.

That seems a little ridiculous.

I thought so. I mean, I understand that they don't want people signing-up, carrying the phone around all day, and then everybody trying to do the mission at the same time...but is that really very likely? No.

That's what they want you to think...

Maybe that's where the mirror is!

It wouldn't be a World Showcase movie if the fashions didn't look dated. :rotfl2:

Good point.

I've got to be honest. I never knew she was anybody's favorite. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I didn't put the whole story in the chapter, I think I've mentioned it at other times, but...we had a Sleeping Beauty book that we read to her when she was a tyke. I'm pretty sure it was from when the movie originally came out and it had belonged to my older sisters back in the day. But when Lauren was little, they hadn't re-released the movie or anything so there was no Sleeping Beauty merchandise to be found so she was always bummed whenever we found princess stuff in the stores. But still, Aurora was always her favorite.

I love that show. That really is some impressive balancing.

I saw your comment here, and it inspired me to go back and edit the chapter...I put my response right after the last Serveur Amusant picture. :)

I have to admit I've never done the movie in France either. I want to do it but I'm worried I'll sleep my way through it. I've also never seen the guy with the chairs. I made of point of trying in 2012 and still didn't see him.

I'm glad just about everyone got to do what they wanted so far.

I'm really enjoying the photo pass pictures. Kudos to the kids for stopping on their own for pictures.

That Japan mission looks a lot like a KP mission Danielle did there in 2010.

Loved the photo bomb picture from the wedding!:rotfl: Very classy.

We saw the chair acrobat guy (forgot to make note of how you spelled his official name ) on our very first trip as a family back in 2005. I remember buying the kids ice cream and just soaking it in. Back then, I wasn't on the DIS enough to be rushing on to the next thing! :rolleyes1

Glad to see James enjoyed Agent P. I'd like to do a few more missions with the kids next time. And I loved the picture from the wedding...that could be us!

Well Crud - now I am a :bride: to Mark......

:rotfl2: You haven't lost your touch!!

and he is creeping up on me. I need to get on the ball - or stick or whatever it is. :lmao:

Better get on them both.

Need to go back and read now...

Okay, I'll just wait here until you come back. :bored:

Not bad for a spur of the moment plan B morning to have everyone meet up like that. Great when everyone can do what they want or ned to do and then come back together.

That was nice! It helps that the kids are older and can take the buses by themselves if need be.

I have seen the France movie once and been thwarted a few times. Late night EMH and it was closed already and possible timing issues the rest.

It's funny how I can't remember any of it. I think there may have been a fly-by of a castle or something?

Ready for Biergarten.

:hyper:

Haha, you know you would think Disney would come up with a way to make the sun not shine in our eyes during photos. Or maybe James was just winking in that second photo...

Exactly. Everyone knows that they can control the weather.

OMG that "thumb" photo is genius. :rotfl2:

Most people would've left that one out, but I thought it was one of the best! :rotfl2:

It's so retro seeing Aurora in the old dress. Remember wayyyyy back in 2012 before the dress change and you could buy bread for a nickel and still have enough left over to see a movie?

Are you making fun of me? I feel like you're making fun of me.

;)

OMG Glenn, that family photo at the wedding... CLASSIC!!!!!

They knew that we were doing something behind them, but not exactly what!

Wow, you guys all got a lot done and still coordinated getting back together. Love it when a plan comes together! ::yes::

I love it when a Plan "B" comes together!

I still need to catch the Serveur Amusant and the film in France!

Ahh, some "never done's" for Marv.

Three minutes?? :confused3 Looks like Glenn has a new stalker! :rolleyes1

He gave you two minutes, and then said "oh, the heck with it, I'm posting".

I better start keeping watch over my shoulder........... :worried:

They're gunnin' for ya.

Well I had the right answer but as usual I was working !!So I see Mark also doesn't work, just sits around waiting for Glenn updates:rotfl2::rotfl2:I enjoy the chair acrobat show too !!! I have to try the phone booth trick again in October too !!!:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

I have to admit I've never done the movie in France either. I want to do it but I'm worried I'll sleep my way through it.

It was probably good that we went early, before we got all tuckered out.

I've also never seen the guy with the chairs. I made of point of trying in 2012 and still didn't see him.

I tried on two separate days the trip before, even using the entertainment times, but never saw them. Maybe he was sick or something.

I'm glad just about everyone got to do what they wanted so far.

Everyone will have fun, and that's an order.

I'm really enjoying the photo pass pictures. Kudos to the kids for stopping on their own for pictures.

I was so happy that they did that! So cool. :cool1:

That Japan mission looks a lot like a KP mission Danielle did there in 2010.

I don't think they changed them much when they switched over to Agent P.

Loved the photo bomb picture from the wedding!:rotfl: Very classy.

I don't know why we don't get invited to more classy shindigs like that?

We saw the chair acrobat guy (forgot to make note of how you spelled his official name )

(Hey, I had to look it up myself.)

on our very first trip as a family back in 2005. I remember buying the kids ice cream and just soaking it in. Back then, I wasn't on the DIS enough to be rushing on to the next thing! :rolleyes1

There's something to be said about that though. That's when the magic happens! pixiedust:

Glad to see James enjoyed Agent P. I'd like to do a few more missions with the kids next time.

I think that it was ingenius that they thought to do this in order to give the kids somethin to interest them in the World Showcase. :thumbsup2

And I loved the picture from the wedding...that could be us!

:rotfl2: It was my favorite picture from the wedding! :goodvibes

Well I had the right answer but as usual I was working !!

Can't you convince them to let you check the DIS every so often? Just a little peek? :surfweb:

So I see Mark also doesn't work, just sits around waiting for Glenn updates:rotfl2::rotfl2:

That's totally not true!

He also wrote an update on his own thread. :snooty:

I enjoy the chair acrobat show too !!! I have to try the phone booth trick again in October too !!!:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

There's lots of fun to be had around the World Showcase.

Serveur Amusant are (is?) easily my favorite Epcot street performance. Also scares the crap out of me

I saw your comment here, and it inspired me to go back and edit the chapter...I put my response right after the last Serveur Amusant picture. :)
I'm glad I was able to inspire you. :rotfl2::lmao:

Although there's no doubt I'd rather watch the serveur do his thng. :rolleyes1

Ahhhh that France movie... I think that was a nap waiting to happen the only time I've seen it in 2010. It must not have been that compelling since I haven't returned since.

Love the family photos by the fountain! I've not seen that photopass border on the photos with the countries - that is a great option!

I know everyone is impressed with the balancing feats of Serveur Amusant but I want to know how the heck he keeps his hat on while upside down?? :p

I love Aurora's dress (even if it is so 2012 Rob! ;)) and your daughter looks just as lovely next to her!

i wonder if there is something in those chairs that locks them together when they do that, seems like there would have to be some sort of safety measure, i dont think disney would risk one of those guys accidentally getting hurt...he is pretty close to the railing if he were to fall.

Glenn, what an awesome update.

The family photopass pictures are great.

The one of your daughter and Aurora is wonderful.

We love the movie in France; it's a little outdated, but it is the only one you can sit and watch which at our age, we enjoy.

So glad you got to see the entertainment outside of Chefs de France; we enjoyed it from our window in December.

Can't wait to read more.

Serveur Amusant are (is?) easily my favorite Epcot street performance. Also scares the crap out of me

I know what you mean, it looks like a fall would be very easy. And considering how many times a year they put on that show...it's just a matter of time, right?

I'm glad I was able to inspire you. :rotfl2::lmao:

Don't let anyone tell you that you're not inspiring. ;)

Although there's no doubt I'd rather watch the serveur do his thng. :rolleyes1

A good show!

Ahhhh that France movie... I think that was a nap waiting to happen the only time I've seen it in 2010. It must not have been that compelling since I haven't returned since.

But have you been to France? I'm sure that the idea of promoting tourism is a big factor behind the pavilions. (So Norway really needs to rethink Maelstrom! :rotfl2:)

Love the family photos by the fountain! I've not seen that photopass border on the photos with the countries - that is a great option!

Aw thanks, Brenda!

I know everyone is impressed with the balancing feats of Serveur Amusant but I want to know how the heck he keeps his hat on while upside down?? :p

Now there's a great question! Disney magic. :wizard:

I love Aurora's dress (even if it is so 2012 Rob! ;)) and your daughter looks just as lovely next to her!

 Thanks!

I'm watching you, Wazowski...Always watching...

omgblinky.gif

::yes::

You should take that as a compliment, though. :thumbsup2

Oh I do! Pigs in a blanket...mmmmm.

i wonder if there is something in those chairs that locks them together when they do that, seems like there would have to be some sort of safety measure, i dont think disney would risk one of those guys accidentally getting hurt...he is pretty close to the railing if he were to fall.

I'm with you, it looks pretty darn dangerous, which is what they're going for obviously. Yeah, maybe if some kind of pin drops in and locks them together that would help. Interesting. :scratchin

Glenn, what an awesome update.

Gee thanks Kathy. (I was actually afraid that this one might be a little boring.)

The family photopass pictures are great.

The one of your daughter and Aurora is wonderful.

Thank you, and thank you!

We love the movie in France; it's a little outdated, but it is the only one you can sit and watch which at our age, we enjoy.

So glad you got to see the entertainment outside of Chefs de France; we enjoyed it from our window in December.

Can't wait to read more.

That was one restaurant that I was thinking of trying instead of, well, what's coming up in the next chapter. I thought that the kids would have fun seeing Remy, and then like you say, things happening outside. Well, maybe one of these days!
