We walked out of the American Experience and the kids had apparently had enough time with us old fogeys, so they took off on their own. If I ever find out where they went and what they did, I'll update you in a future chapter. Judy, my parents and I started heading counter-clockwise around the World Showcase, towards Italy, Germany, Norway, etc. It was a little bit before 4 o'clock.
I went to change some settings on my camera and when I turned it on...nothing. Danged battery! But then I figured out that while in the American Experience I had turned the display brightness down as far as it would go so that I wouldn't bother people behind me when I took pictures. Now that I was out in the bright sunshine, I couldn’t see anything on the display even though it was actually on. I was able to shade it and get everything reset and my mini-crisis was averted. Whew!
We walked a little ways and saw a Photopass photographer down near the lagoon and decided to stop for some pictures.
I asked him to take a few with my camera also. These first two were from mine.
He asked me to kiss Judy on the cheek and I was happy to oblige. She didn't seem to mind.
Look at her face...pure bliss, I tell ya!
Then he took a few with his camera. The flash definitely helps to get rid of the shadows, but I think it gives me a "deer in the headlights" look. Or maybe that was just my expression at the time, I don't know. You'd think that Judy would've been the one with the weird expression after that smack on the cheek I'd just given her.
The Illuminations barge started to appear in the right side of this next picture and it's kind of fun to watch its progress over the next several photos.
I don't know if he gave Judy instructions to stand like Aladdin, or if he asked both of us and I missed it or what.
This next picture demonstrates a pet-peeve I have about Photopass photographers. If any of you read this, please, please, please try to keep the horizon level. I get dizzy looking at this one, and the limited editing software on the Disney Photopass website doesn't have the functionality to tweak the rotation.
But I was able to take advantage of the slanted picture by putting it in this border. Perfect! Take that, level-challenged Photopass photographer!
And then he asked Judy to kiss
me on the cheek. I didn't mind either.
Judy came by when I was working on this update. I asked her which border she liked best, and she liked them all, so I left them all in. She especially liked the last one though, I must say.
Yes, I did the Photopass editing, so a little self-deprecating humor there. I like how the boy and girl frogs line-up with us though.
Then Gram and Poppy joined us and the photographer took one with my camera.
Then he used his camera, and put Tink in the picture too. Gram didn't quite know where to look apparently. And I thought that my Dad was blinking, but his eyelids look the same throughout all of these pictures so I think he was just squinting from the sun.
And then we have a series of shots where we each successively look at the camera. I don’t know if we didn't hear his instructions or what exactly. First, the ladies look at the camera (including Tink

).
Then I join.
And finally Poppy. This is a nice one.
Then the photographer had Judy and I step aside so that he could take some of just Gram and Poppy. First, a couple with my camera.
This photographer was big on the "kiss the cheek" photos.
Then he used his camera and had them stand like Aladdin. They haven't seen the movie, so I think he had to demonstrate what that meant, but they got it.
He finished up with a couple more "magic" photos with Tink.
