City Elite Single

I am thinking of renting this for my five year old for disney in June. He tends to dart and gets tired easily so our stroller his feet drag on the wheels sometimes. Anyone know anything about this stroller? Seems like it is the biggest he is 47 pounds and about the same in height, just wondering how easy it is to fold and to take on buses or on the boat from port orleans to downtown? Big basket? easy to hang a bag on the back? Thinking of using kingdom rentals

Those big strollers are not easy on the crowded buses.

We purchased a new 'umbrella' stroller with our eyes on the weight restrictions. The thing might collapse on our next journey, then we'll rent before bringing one of those 'Cadillac' strollers (that we recently gave away to a jogging friend with a newborn).

Funny that - I just handed a friend a catalog with cigars to purchase as if it were an adult-magazine to be kept in a brown paper bag (if you know what I mean)....

Then I ran into his wife at the supermarket on the other side of town a few minutes later....and she must have been wondering why I was blushing when I said, "Hello."

Last year I borrowed a single City Mini for my tall (44") 5yo and it worked really well for us. Going to do the same this year.

They fold in the easiest possible way by just pulling up on the strap that the child sits on. My one disappointment was that there was no way to lock the stroller in the folded position which made it a bit more challenging on the buses. I needed to either hold it up with my hands or if there was room, put it between my legs to keep it closed.

A minor inconvenience though for the comfort of my dd, ease of opening and closing and more importantly, ease of pushing through the parks. While an umbrella stroller might be lighter, the wheels are often not intended for the weight of an older child and sometimes the handles are shorter too which means being bent over while pushing.

The basket is average size. Not huge and not overly easy to access but not difficult either. It held all we need and we don't travel lite.

While I'm not familiar with the City Elite, I would highly recommend the City Mini. I intend to rent from Orlando Strollers this year.

We have a city elite double that we have used on multiple trips to disney. Its not the easiest stroller on buses, but you are on buses what 20 minutes a day, give or take. The other 8-12 hours you are pushing a stroller. Although there are benefits to umbrella strollers, ease of pushing is not necessarily one of them. IF you have a buy buy baby or babies r us near you pop in and have your kid sit in it and push it a bit.

Its easy to push and easy to fold.

We have the City Elite and love it. It's comparable to a BOB stroller if you're familiar with that. 26 lbs, I think. It's easy to fold (same fold as the City Mini) but the wheels are larger than the City Mini so it's not as compact. The larger rubber wheels make for a much easier push though, so it's a trade off. City mini wheels are plastic. With a 50lb kid, the wheels really make a difference in ease of push.

If I were you I'd also check out the City Mini GT that some other companies rent. It's kind of a mix between the City Mini and City Elite. It has the size of the mini but rubber wheels like the Elite.

I'd go with a City Mini GT instead of the City Elites. It's much more lightweight than the City Elite and your son is still well under the weight limit (60 pounds). The City Mini GTs fold really easily and compactly and aren't an issue on the buses.

Thanks , the company recommended the elite, kingdom rentals I think it was, he is 47 pounds and 47 inches ..., I was more worried about his long legs. I will look into the other one too as far as easier to maneuver on buses, boats, etc

I'm renting a City Mini GT Single Stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals, because that is the one they recommend for bigger kids (DS is 48" and 50 lb.)

We rented the city mini GT last November for my daughter. She was 7, but little 46 inches and 42 pounds. It was great. Easy to fold, not to heavy, the basket was an ok size. If you want to hang a bag off the bag you would need to bring a clip to do that. We rented from Orlando stoller. The stroller came with a rain cover, parent tray and cooler bag. My daughter fit perfect in it. It was easy to push around too. Would rent it again if I needed a stroller, but we are past the stroller age now.

Oh and I just realized that I rented the City Elite (http://www.citystrollerrentals.com/411CELITE.html) for our last trip to Disneyland -- it was nice and smooth with a very high handle (good for tall hubby), but it was NOT good for the bigger kids because they had to fold up their legs, or else drag them on the ground which was super annoying. The Mini GT Single looks like it has a better footrest, so that's why I'm trying it for our next trip.

The Elite is totally do-able on a bus, don't me wrong. It folds up smaller and quicker than a lot of those gigantic travel system strollers that people bring into the parks.

We have the City Mini for our 4 year old and love it for Disney. I would take your son to the store and see if he can sit in it comfortably. I think it is a lot lighter and easier to handle on buses the the Elite.

I rented the City Mini twice from Magic Strollers and loved it! I would have usually picked up an umbrella stroller but for WDW i need something that can handle naps. I hghly recommend it!
