Citricos or The Wave?

Never been to The Wave but Citricos is amazing! Dh and I completely cleaned our plates everything was so fresh and flavorful.

Never eaten at the Wave, but Citrico's is one of my favorite top 3 restaurants.

I don't know if you can really compare a signature to a regular restaurant, but out of the two Citricos was better than the Wave.

That's not to say the Wave isn't good, as both times we've eaten there we've had excellent service and meals

And I must pop in and mention I've dined at both. To oppose the previous poster's experience I have to say, while we do like both I must admit I actually prefer The Wave over Citrico's even if you're comparing a mid-level restaurant to a "signature" one.

I ordered the salmon the last time we were at Citricos and it was actually a little over cooked. While it wasn't bad it wasn't at good as the arctic char at The Wave. If I had a choice I'd save a bit of $$, go to the Wave and enjoy the trio dessert for the difference.:thumbsup2

We have The Wave to be our newest "must do" and I will report back again after this weekend to let you know how it goes when we dine there Saturday night for dinner (oh and Thursday morning for breakfast, we tried their breakfast last trip and it was awesome!!)

We went to both on our trip last December. Both are very good, but our family absolutely loves Citricos. It is the one restaurant that we will return to this November. Citricos has been on our list the last 3 years running. The food and service are both wonderful.

Oh, I just remembered, we have already been discussing our dining plans for November and the kids did ask to go back to The Wave as well. However, it was mainly because we will be staying at Bay Lake Tower for the first 3 days of our trip and they wanted to eat somewhere at the Contemporary during that time. ::MinnieMo

On our last visit (in August), we were not impressed by the Wave in any way, shape or form. At Citrico's however, we were blown away, and can't wait to go back!

I was not impressed by The Wave at all. I have not been to Citrico's for dinner, but I would pick that in a heartbeat over The Wave!

Never been to the Wave but have been to Citricos 3 times and it is amazing. We were just there on Friday and I got the duck & pasta app and the some fish, I think halibut in a broth with pasta & mussels it was excellent and the lemon cheesecake there is my favorite on property. My DH got the short ribs or some rib off the bone type entree and it was excellent too.

Love both. But in all fairness they don't compare not on the same level.
Just depends what your looking for .

Been to both on multiple occasions. They really are completely different dining experiences. Citricos is one of my favorites on property, but The Wave is also quite good. If cost is not an issue, go with Citricos.

I've eaten at both plcaes only once, so I don't pretend to know everything about them. Also, you're comparing regular and signature. I'll just say that we (family and I) liked, didn't love, The Wave and had a horrible night at Citricos (glacial service, undercooked filet and overcooked fish). That said, I alwas opt for signature over regular if I can afford it, and I'm always prepared to give a restaurant a second chance.

Going to Citricos feels more like really going someplace. Going to the Wave feels like hitting any hotel's retaurant/bar (especially since it's right next to the main desk). But your wallet's gonna feel it more, for sure.

I've enjoyed Citricos's but I've read so many good things about the Wave that we're trying it in June. The menu convinced me that it would be worth a try!

i have reservations at citricos in 18 days! for those of you who liked citricos what meals did you order?

I love veal, so I've had it twice now, the Braised Veal Shank, boy it's tasty. We also get the Goat Cheese Salad, it has beets in it. My son always gets the Short Ribs & Polenta. I am however looking forward to trying the Wave.

We were there last Sept and had the Filet Sicilian (Oak-grilled Filet of Beef with sweet vidalia onions, peppadew and banana peppers, quattro formaggic crushed potatoes and veal glace de viande). That was the best steak that I've had on Disney property. It was just done perfectly and sooo good. You can't go wrong with that one.

We were there last Friday -- I had the Romaine Lettuce Salad (sort of a deconstructed Caesar salad - very tasty), and the Berkshire Pork Two Ways (not as successful -- but the potatoes that came with it were amazing). My wife had the duck & pasta appetizer, and the Veal Shank. The Veal Shank was out of this world, especially if you like the marrow (long bone, plenty of it). For dessert, I had the warm chocolate banana tort (heaven on a plate), and my wife had citrus soaked angel food cake (perfect light ending to her meal). All with a bottle of wine to wash it down. Here's the kicker -- we did this meal with a 2 year old and an 8 year old, both of whom enjoyed their meals (cheese and grape appetizer, grilled chicken) and who were treated very nicely by the staff. A definite repeat for us next time.
