I don't have the card but I just checked it out on CitiBank's website.
The annual fee is $75. That's pretty hefty.
2 points per $ spent at grocery, gas and drugstores. 1 point per $ everywhere else.
1 point for every mile flown when the ticket is purchased with the cc. That's in addition to the 1 pt/$ spent.
The big question would be: What kind of rewards does this card offer? I dug further into the website and found that it offers "Thank You" rewards. These vary from iPods and coffeemakers to free flights and hotel GCs. The flights cost 25,000 points and the iPod was 50,000. They also offer cash in the form of a credit to your account. A $25 credit costs 5,000 points. For comparison's sake, the Disney VISA offers 50 rewards dollars for $5,000 in spending. No cash back is offered by this Citi card.
Are these rewards that you would want to work towards? How long do you think it would take to get enough points in your account to redeem for the reward of your choice? If it takes more than a year, you will have spent $150 on annual fees to get that reward. Will you actually spend enough on that card to exceed the 300-point limit set by most cards without an annual fee (which translates to about $30,000 in annual spending)?
This card doesn't appeal to me but that doesn't mean that it's not right for you. DH does have a CitiBank card (no rewards). The company is easy to deal with and has good customer service. If you decide to go with CitiBank, make sure that you check their website to compare all the types of rewards cards that they offer.
