We are planning a Nov trip which will include 3 nights onsite at Universal followed by 10 nights at the Swan. Myself, DH, DD14, and DS8. We've never done Cirque or Blue Man Group. Which would you do any why?

I've never seen either in Orlando but did see BMG in a Chicago and Vegas (won tix). I wasn't that impressed with it. It was entertaining yes but nothing compared to the Cirque shows I've seen in Vegas. If it's the same in Orlando, no doubt I would see Cirque. They are amazing.

The younger kids would probably like BMG more than you but even the young kids are amazed at Cirque. They are so talented and have amazing talents.

Again, I've never seen them in Orlando so maybe something is different there.

We love BMG!!! My boys think it is the greatest think in the whole world. If you had already seen it, I would tell you to go to Cirque since it was almost an exact replica when we saw it this past Nov. as it was the year before, but since you have never been before I would highly recommend it with the kids.

I went to Cirque in WDW with two off my kids -ages 10 and 14. We all loved it. I have never been to BMG.

I've seen and loved both in Orlando. Cirque is more spectacle, but still has humor. BMG is more humor by still has spectacle.
I'd choose based on scheduling and travel convenience.

Not all Cirque shows are created equal. I've seen many (in Vegas) and seen the touring BMG shows.

You know what your getting with BMG, a colorful energetic and funny show. Cirque can be a mixed bag depending on what you are expecting. I have not been to either show in Orlando, but from the reviews, the La Nouba it falls into the more festive category (some cirque shows can be very abstract and slow).

So, for me it would be pick'em. Read the reviews of each, and go with what you think the kids might enjoy.

I've seen both. If you can only see one, then it would have to be Cirque. We loved Blue Man Group, too, but Cirque is something you have to see at least once. Save BMG for next trip or you could be like me and figure out a way to fit both in! :-)

Another vote for La Nouba. I've seen almost every Cirque du Soleil show, both touring and permanent shows and La Nouba is one of my favorite.

I've seen both also - and I'm another vote for Cirque. I'm pretty positive both my DDs would say the same and they have also seen both.

Definitely Cirque .. Have seen both. Wouldn't go back to blue man but have seen cirque a few times

I've seen several Cirque shows and I did not like La Nouba at all! I guess it was just too avant garde for me. I also thought it was too serious and parts were kind of militaristic (not festive at all, IMO). I did not take my son (who was 5 1/2 at the time), and I am so glad I didn't spend even more money on his ticket. I did go with my sister, who had seen it before, and she said the performance we saw was not as good as when she went previously (I guess performers/acts do change to a certain extent). It didn't help that we had an entire row of guests behind us who talked, loudly and in Russian, during the entire show.

We just saw BMG this past Nov and I thought it was fantastic! My son (now 10) loved it as well! I would not hesitate to see BMG again, and I thought it was completely appropriate/funny/irreverent for a 10 year old boy. I especially loved that the BMG performers were out in the lobby after the show and posed for pictures. There was also great audience participation and spontaneity in the show we saw.

I have seen other Cirque shoes that I enjoyed, but I would not pay to see La Nouba again.

While I enjoyed La Nouba, I preferred BMG. The show moved at faster pace. I enjoyed the touches of humor throughout La Nouba, but prefer the comedy throughout the entire BMG show. (and they have better music!)

Well said. Cirque has more of the "holy cow, how do they DO that?" feeling, while Blue Man is more like "Dude, did you see that?"

If you're going to Universal, Blue Man is a great way to finish off the day.

I saw Blue Man Group last year and loved it. It was amazing how much you got out of the three by just their looks and movements.

They were so funny and they go out into the audience quite a bit. The end is like one big party! Everyone was having a blast.

After the show 2 of them came out to the lobby and posed for pictures.

I would see it again.

Been to BMG in New York and it is fun. One warning--it is LOUD!

Our then-8-year-old boy loved it. I think a 14YO would like it as well.

We have seen both, and I asked my 11 and 12 year olds which one the liked best. Hands down BMG. It was a funny, energetic show. They thought Cirque was too slow in places, and they just didn't get the "artsy" aspect of it.

Can't comment on La Nouba as we have not yet seen the show.

It is on our todo list most years but gets bumped for Blue Man Group when we do the Universal part of our vacation.

Seen BMG three times with age rangesfrom 8 - 80 years old and everyone wants to go back again this year.

Sadly I cannot see us doing both on one trip so my vote is for BMG :thumbsup2
