My Aunt just surprised us with ticket to Cirque. We are very excited but don't have alot of info. I would love to here some reviews good or bad. Thanks

Mom...,

We just got back from the World. We went to Cirque on Friday night. It is unimaginable. I can't really explain the show, because it sounds somewhat crazy, and words would never do it justice. Suffice it to say, we all loved it. My kids (5 and 10) were glued to their seats for the entire hour and 45 minutes. The show is thrilling, funny and a real "how-do-they-do-that" type of experience.

Have fun. I am jealous, because I want to go again...right now.

I haven't seen La Nouba, but have seen Alegria and Varekai (other touring Cirque shows). You will positively love it, but I can't explain it either.

If you get it, the Bravo network periodically re-runs Cirque performances that have been taped. Alternatively, if you live near a quality video rental store, you may be able to rent a DVD/tape of one of their performances. It will certainly whet your appetite!

We too just went to La Nouba this past Friday. My 5 y/o DD loved it! She was mesmorized through the whole show. She laughed and clapped more there more than any other show she has seen. It is an circus type atmosphere where there is always more then one thing going on. There are perfomers using the trampoline, the trapeze, bicycles, high wire, and hanging from high wires. There are clowns that were very funny. There was the most talented set of little girls that did this thing with a wooden spool and string. They were amazing! None of these look like your classic circus performers though. They are all dressed in the cirque fashion. We really enjoyed this show!

La Nouba was also our first Cirque experience and it is just jaw dropping awesome! Since then we have seen two traveling productions and hope to get to Vegas to see the shows outthere. We just went back to see La Nouba a second time a few weeks ago and took my mom for her first Cirque experience. She was amazed but she said she needs to see it again as there is just so much going on at once that you can't see it all the first time.

Oh I am so glad to hear all the good reviews. We are going the first week in November, and someone was telling me my DD5 would not like it. I believed that she would like it and now I am glad that we went ahead and got her a ticket.

Thanks for the reviews. Can't Wait.

:D

Most of the kids we saw there were as captivated by the show as the adults. The only concern I could think of is that there is no intermission so they will need to sit still for about 1 hour 45 minutes.

IMHO, Cirque De Solei - La Nouba is incredible!!! I cannot say enough positive things about it. I have seen a few of the Cirque shows and all are great. As others stated, you cannot put into words a description of the show. It is like nothing you have ever seen. To describe it would not do it justice... I have yet to meet anyone who hasn't enjoyed the experience.

:wave2: Thanks everyone for the great reviews. We can't wait! Our DD is 7 and sounds like she'll be the perfect age.

Honestly,

My husband and I saw La Nouba and had mixed feelings on it. We both thought that all the performers were fantastically talented and the stunts they did were amazing but each act went on for a really LONG time. The show seemed long.. and that was probably because there wasn't an intermission, but also because it was very repetative. It's definately something worth seeing.. I'm not sure if I would personally see it again.

I went to see La Nouba 2 years ago and last year I went and saw Varekai in Chicago. My entire family are Cirque fans and never miss a chance to see it live or watch it on tv.
La Nouba was wonderful. Even though it was an hour and 45 minutes the time just flew. The acts are amazing.
It's so hard to describe Cirque shows, you just have to go see it and then you'll see how truly magical it is.
:thewave:

I've never seen La Nouba, however, I did get to see Quidam when it was in Pittsburgh in 2002. It was an amazing production. I was told by my French teacher (the class with which we saw the show), and she said that their other shows are all as good as Quidam. I also have friends who have seen La Nouba, and they all raved about it.

I'm going to see La Nouba for the first time next month. We have excellent seats (front row of 2nd level!).

The only other Cirque show I have seen is Mystere in Las Vegas. The only problem I had with that one is they tend to pull people out of the audience a lot and put them in embarassing situations (or so it seemed to me). Does this happen in La Nouba much? If so, I'm a little worried about those great seats of ours!

They only pull one person out of the audience during La Nouba and it's usually someone in the first row so I wouldn't worry about it. I will say you should make sure you are in your seat a bit ahead of time to make sure you see everything. ;)

We saw 'O' in Vegas, and it is amazing from a technology standpoint, a "how'd they do that standpoint", but like someone else said, after a while, we felt like it got a little old and repetitive, but that's just me, everyone else just loved it.

That's good. I thought they pushed the limit a bit in "Mystere"--this one poor girl they drug off to backstage and you never saw her again. I hoped the reimbursed her for the cost of the ticket as she was gone most of the show! And this one guy they put in a cage while one of the clowns sat down next to his wife and enjoyed a glass of wine. All a little much IMHO. :(

I've seen it twice. It is FANTASTIC.

You are going to love it - I promise you!

I went with DD and her DBF in April. It was fabulous. My DH and my mom did not go because of the price. But DH would have loved it and I am planning on taking him in January.

I hate sitting still for very long but the time flew by. I was very pleased with the show and do not mind plunking down the big bucks for this one.

We were very close to the stage - too close. Next time I will try to get in the 2nd section.

What a wonderful aunt. You're going to have such a terrific time. My DD (almost 10) and I have seen La Nouba two times and intend to go again when we return in January. It is a truly captivating performance.
