I have read sooooo many food reports that I felt it only proper and correct to reciprocate. :) Please forgive any bad photography. Remember...they may have been in focus for me  ( the odd glass of wine may have multiplied )

We enjoyed 14 nights at Old Key West on the free Disney Dining Plan - YIPEE!!!

I booked ahead for most of the table service meals, and had a rough idea of where best to use our quick service and snack credits.( okay, I have researched and had a darn good plan of where, when etc. ...only toilet breaks were not scheduled, you get the picture?)

I have taken piccies of most things that we consumed... and I have the extra pounds ( all 8 of them ) to prove it.

so to start with we arrived after a long 9 1/2 hour flight, checked in and the girls we're a wee bit peckish as the food on the plane was gruesome, how can chicken become grey? I do not know.:confused3. Me and DH ate ours as we had paid good money for our flights and by-eck we were going to eat it. Even if it made us ill. :snooty:
We popped into the shop at OKW and purchased 2 items from our snack credits.

The cookie was really soft and delish. The rice crispy treat was a lot harder than expected. I do not have the receipt for this as my DH disposed of it. He was 'in training' for the rest of the trip. The girls soon set to work and made them history! It was also nice to let then have something straight off that they wanted , I sometimes get a bit fed up of saying no.

Next up...Chef De france and Remy

Great start! I'm hoping Remy will still be at Chefs De France at Christmas (and also hoping I can get an ADR!)

Really looking forward to your reviews! I, too, would love Remy to still be at Chefs for Christmas but I am having my doubts ... :guilty:

Ooh! Im in! Ill be there next wk and cant wait! Oh I have a question.. Do you like chicken??

not long for your trip then  I love chicken :lmao: or rather, I don't like many meat dishes - too much chewing required :rotfl:

day - Wednesday 26th August 2009.

first up is breakfast; We got 3 Cinnamon rolls from Goods to Go. 'Come to Mama' We used our snack credits for these but they would cost $2.59 each.

Amelia had a bowl of cereal, fruit loops - far to many E numbers in there for my liking but 'hey -ho' we are on our hols, so E numbers and calories don't count ;)

Can anyone see a hidden Mickey anywhere?

Lunch at Les Chefs De France

We had an ADR booked for 1.20pm, but we were all really hungry around noon, as we were in world showcase, i enquired at the podium to see if we could get in earlier. this wasn't a problem and within minutes we were called in to be seated.

We were placed in the convervatory bit, along side the main avenue into France area. It was very light and airy, but man those tables are close together. Me and Amelia sat along the bench at the back and I could hardly squeeze in between the tables. :lmao:

The menu cover :
florida2009049.jpg

We dicided to pay OOP for this meal as Nanna had given us some dollars to have a meal. Thanks Nanna! the adults opted for the price fixe menu at $20.00 each. ameila choose off the kids menu. She was quite happy colouring in the little booklet that kids get.

For starter 3 adults had : Soupe a L'Oignon Gratinee
florida2009038.jpg

picci of the bread :

florida2009036.jpg

The soup was heavenly. It was scolding hot and the chessey top prevented it from cooling down,The bowls look really small but there was a whole lot of soup in there. It was delish and I was very happy with my choice! I could have done with a knife and fork as well as a spoon as the cheesy, bready, oniony bits were hard to catch with a spoon :lmao: Have no fear, I caught then all in the end!

The bread was ok, amelia ate a lot of it.

Amelia had : Friand au Fromage $4.00

florida2009039.jpg

This was also very tasty. The pastry as crumbly and flaky and the cheese filing was rich and creamy. She didn't each much of it, but as I've said she is such a picky eater. We all polished it off. :goodvibes

For Entrees: I had Quiche Lorraine.
florida2009040.jpg

I adore quiche :lovestruc The quiche was massive, the size of a side plate. It was rich and creamy and light with just the right balance of cheese to bacon/ham. I really enjoyed this, but it was too big for me to finish. I also really struggled to eat all of the tomatoes, I had so many to get through :rolleyes1- the lettuce was a bit limp and wilted in places, maybe my plate went under a lamp before it was brought out. :confused3 I left the lettuce.

Chris had : Gratin de Macaroni

florida2009042.jpg

He said this was very tasty, rich and creamy. He is not one to talk about food ...he prefers to scoff it :rotfl:

Megan had : Croque Monsieur & sa salade verte ( ham and cheese toastie)

florida2009044.jpg

She loved this. thick slices of melted cheese and plenty of thick sliced ham and nicely toasted off.

Ameila had : Croquette de boeuf en Brioche ( burger in a bun) $8.00

florida2009041.jpg

as per usual she tasted it and then declared she was full :confused3 . we all tried a bit, the beef as really nice and the bun very yummy. The fries were a little pale looking, but tasty enough.

DH was begining to doubt the existence of a certain rat and kept asking me where he was.( quietly... as the girls didn't know about him yet! )

next up - desserts and a visit form a rat!

too many Es in the cereal? I must admit that I'm a bit lost on that comment. Enjoying the report though.

:rotfl2: the loopy cereal!!

You make Chef de France look very good! Im very hungry now!!

Love the reviews so far! Thanks for sharing:)
thanks, I am kind of re-living the food- and it's good :)

You had me at the title!

I adore cinnamon rolls, we just don't get them as good in the U.K. - they are way smaller and never as fresh.

too many Es in the cereal? I must admit that I'm a bit lost on that comment. Enjoying the report though.

E's are the E numbers of additives added to foods (eg E121) mainly for colour or flavor. some foods in U.K. are loaded with E numbers. If a food is bright it's got a whole load of EEEEEE's! The good news is that they have to be listed on the label!

My DD loves the loops :cloud9:. Chefs was fab :thumbsup2 I could eat that Quiche right now!

Hi Andrea! Great start to your reveiws so far. :thumbsup2 I love the quiche at Chefs de France ... it's one of the reasons that I love having lunch there. I'm going to try to force myself to order something different when we lunch there next month but I'm already pretty sure I'm doomed for failure. :lmao:

Looking forward to reading more!

okay , now where was I oh yes, dessert.

all 3 adults had Profiteroles au Chocolat

florida2009051-1.jpg

OMG :worship:, these large balls of Choux pastry overstuffed with with cream and swimming in chocolate sauce were amazing...a delight to the tastebuds. I was struggling to eat them both, as were DH and DD12.

Amelia had a Biscuit au chocolat $2.50- which was a milk chocolate chip cookie. It was very tasty and she ate the whole thing.

for some reason I didn't take a photo :confused3, AHHHH now a I recall why! The lady sat at the next table made a comment - " those people are taking picures of their food" and laughed to her DH every time we took a photo of our plate. This was our 1st real meal in WDW and it was slightly off-putting. I did feel like saying " yeah, and if you don't pipe down I will take pictures of your food too!" but I am far too polite :flower3:

Anyway... My DH also had a glass of red - Cote du Rhone at $9.95 and DD7 had a Lorina Lemonade.$5.50 Me and DD12 had diet cola.$2.95 all drinks were nice.

The total bill came to $102.56 (£ 62.15 with exchange at £1.65)

suggested tip :

18% $17.33 (£10.50)
20% $19.26 (£11.72)

we paid in cash for everything.

Review

Lighting level : 9/10 nice and light and airy

Noise level : 8/10 one of the most 'quiet' of all meals, I think it helps as the areas are in 'rooms' rather than 1 large dining room.

Ambience: 6/10 nice decor and setting. However, the tables are way to close together. I could have reached the plate of the lady next to me without moving!

Service: 8/10 our server was MATHIEU M - he was very attentive and efficient; prompt with refills etc. He did however bring DH a glass of red and he had asked for white, but he drinks both so it didn't really matter.

food quality: 8/10 I really enjoyed the food. It was all cooked and presented very well.( appart from my wilted lettuce) good flavors, large portion sizes. kids portion sizes were a little too big.

dine again? : yes, we would dine here again. Maybe try an evening rather than lunch for variety of menu. I do think Remy is a big draw here and hope they keep him on.

speaking of REMY here is the little fella, he came around as we were tucking into our desserts. I have cropped these piccies to remove fellow diners. It is trickey to get a good shot of him without other diners as he is positioned in a group of tables each time. He was delightful!

Great reviews. Thanks for taking the time to add the details for lighting, noise level, etc.

We are eating at Les Chefs next month. I am for sure going to order the Profiteroles au Chocolat . My ds11 will be getting , as he calls it, the fancy hamburger so good to read you liked it. We will also be eating at Crystal Palace for dinner so looking forward to that one also. (ate there for lunch last year and not sure if there is a big difference)

Great start - awesome writing style and pics. Can't wait for the rest.
