So after reading so much about CRT and wanting to try some different TS this trip, is CRT worthwhile dinner or lunch? I am celebrating my 50th with my 22 yr old daughter during our trip in September and I am on the fence about this one. Is the meal pix fixe? I see lots of choices on the menu, but no prices so is it choose one from each category? Will I feel like I got my monies worth or foolish being an adult in a "princess meal"? Please give me your experience good, bad or ugly.

Yes, it is prix fixe and you're correct, select from each category. I wouldn't go for the food, not that it's bad, just fairly steep in dining credits or OOP cash. Whether it is worth it is up to you, do you want to see the princesses or does your daughter? Lots of adults get their photo with the princesses.

It's decent (but not particularly good) food at an outrageous price (yes, it's prix fixe.) It is extremely loud and the character interaction is generally rushed.

I wouldn't bother.

If you really want the experience of eating in the castle with princesses, then it can be. For the food, no way. The cost to eat here is all about the atmosphere.

"Worth it" That's just too subjective! Too many variables... have you eaten at the castle before? Consider part of the price of your meal is the whole experience... and of course the Princesses is part of the price of the meal...

I also have read many reviews and pictures, we have eaten there in the past, and the price was a bit easier on our wallets, but I didn't consider the price. We ate for breakfast, just my mom, my dd, and me - and my mom LOVED it - she just loves the memories of this breakfast, so I'm glad we did it!

I also made it more special and had a special chocolate slipper delivered one year, one year we had a cake delivered (but they can't save anything so we went back to the resort with leftovers)

I think for 2 looking out the window, eating at the castle with my dd - I'd do it and not think of the money...

oh, and you will not feel foolish for being with Princesses - you are in Disneyworld, it's meant to bring out our "Disney side"

Take pictures with you and your DD

Like others have said, the food probably won't be up to "high class" standards, and if that is important, then cancel, but I think in the end, if you have a fun attitude you'll enjoy the memories

DH and I went for breakfast last year and I really enjoyed it, although we probably won't go back in the next couple years.
It's super cool to check out the castle and we had a window table which had a great view of the park.
I have the pic with Cinderella on my desk right now...no kids involved :)

My DH proposed to me there, so I'm extremely biased, but my hubby and I have eaten there every "adults only" trip we've ever had. Plan on eating there again in December.

I'm the same age as your daughter and my mom is around your age, and we love character dinning. We didn't get to eat at CRT on our last trip because of the refurbish, but are looking forward to next trip. I think the experience of being in the castle and with the princesses will be worth it. When it comes to food since it's different from what we normally eat at home, we are not too critical? :confused3

My wife (then girlfriend) did CRT, and it is good. More atmosphere then food and neither of us are there for character interaction. But as we were there, Sniw White cane to our table and started interacting with us and noticed we were ther for each other and just smiled and stated as much and said how lucky we were to have each other and moved on. It was just what we wanted.

I enjoyed it. The allure is being able to actually eat INSIDE the castle. The food is okay. I enjoyed Akershus just as much, and I thought the food was better, for a much lower price tag.

For us (just 2 adults), we have eaten there twice for Dinner. Both times were during the free dining promotion. The third was for Lunch (or early dinner o_O) and was OOP.
It did seem worth the cost; the food was pretty good, we got to indulge in our younger side while still being in a fairly romantic setting (in the castle), able to meet the princesses (we enjoy character meals) and got a photo with Cinderella (two professional prints in a nice folder frame).
Once we even got to watch the fireworks from under the castle! We were also one of the last to leave MK (since it was a very late reservation). It was so empty and beautiful!

With all that ... yes, it was worth it.

Now? Not really. If it is true that the photo package is being taken away but the cost is still the same, then I say no, not for us. We rarely have photopass or ride photos and having a professional(ish) photo was a huge part of the experience for us. The last time we went, the food wasn't all that impressive, nor was the service. The princesses were great though!

Granted, we've been 3 times (out of 4 visits total to WDW). I think dining in the castle, during any meal, for a major event in your life is a wonderful experience ... and one you should have at least ONCE during your lifetime :)

Oh and there were swords and wands involved. We took ours home and love them for decor! Ah ... memories.

Have you been to other character meals, and did you enjoy them? I did them for my kids, but the food is not great (sometimes - I loved the food at Akershaus) and the characters are pretty rushed. The only enjoyment that I get out of it is watching the kids get caught up in the magic. A grown woman dressing up like a princess doesn't have much appeal for me, so I definitely wouldn't spend that much on CRT for just adults.

I haven't eaten in the castle since it was King Stephen's Table. So I decided it was worth it to me to eat there again since I know my family would never want to (no princess meals for them).
So for this older solo traveler, it will be worth it since I want to do it.

I think it would be a great mom-daughter meal. I would make a late reservation rather than prime little-kid time. One of my DD's favorite Disney memories was seeing the fireworks from inside CRT - definitely a different view.

We are all adults. My DS is disabled and going to the CRT for lunch was one of his big deals. We paid OOP a few times and then started using the DDP. I did it for him even though I felt most the menu was not worth it. When the menu changed and dropped the one thing we enjoyed we switched to a dinner and this time DD was with us. DD and I agreed that the dinner served was not good and certainly could not be justified with the price. The character interaction was okay but not as good as Akerhaus in EPCOT. The atmosphere is geared for children. We have not been back since and DS is content with eating in the Beast's Castle now. I don't know that we will go back - the only plus is being in the castle and that's not enough to pay those prices. For that kind of money we can have an enjoyable evening at California Grill.

Can you please share your experience with the fireworks from the castle? We have 9:15 reservations and the fireworks will be at 10. My kids are SO excited to see the fireworks. Will they still be able to see them if we don't get a window seat (although we are going to try our hardest)? They will be absolutely crushed if they can't see the show. Wondering if I should cancel the reservation :( Any info you can share will be truly appreciated!

You aren't going to get the same view as outside, but they do play the music. There are big windows along the far side of the room, and I think they are visible to everyone, though Alison (8 at the time) requested a window seat the night we were there during the fireworks and got one. I never would have thought about that being an option. It is almost like you are behind the fireworks, and you don't see them all. However, you are higher than normal, so it is like you are in the middle of the ones you do see. I think I might have a picture on my computer at home - I'll look tonight.

You can see the fireworks that go up behind the park but nothing that goes up around the castle. I would imagine you would need a table closer to the windows to truly see. The layout includes archways and side seating that would have a more difficult time seeing them. The restaurant is not designed to get up from your table and go view the fireworks so whatever seat you get you would need to stay seated during the show. I would still be able to enjoy the music and bursts of light but I've seen Wishes many times and this would be a perk, not really expecting to enjoy the show.

If you truly want to enjoy fireworks and a nice dinner book California Grill. When the show starts the server holds your meal and if you don't have window seats you can go outside on the observation deck and watch. It's amazing!!

Window table seat

This looks to be a table over from the windows and you are already losing visibility
