Has anyone heard that Cinderella's Royal Table will be closed soon due to a leaky roof? Friends of mine just came back from the World and mentioned that they saw a sign at the Royal Table Restaurant saying it would be closed in January for renovations.

Has anyone heard of this?? I haven't been able to confirm this online anywhere. I have reservations for January and I'm trying to find out if I need to make other plans.

I hope it won't be closed in January! We have an ADR there for January 3. It will be my DD's first time eating in the castle. Hopefully someone on the DIS will have some info!

Nothing listed, so far.

Are you sure they weren't just giving you a "hard time" because they know that your heading there?

If Disney was going to close it, they would likely be contacting all of their guests with ADR's there.

I can't confirm the closure, but I can confirm the leak..we were sitting next to it 2 weeks ago while we were there. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, it wasn't a constant leak, but it definately was there.

Doesn't sound good.

Although, I don't know if I've ever seen a sign at WDW proclaiming a FUTURE refurb.
I've seen them posted DURING a refurb, of course, but I don't recall any that would be talking about a closure 4-5 months in advance.

(Ya just never know exactly what Disney will do.)

Uh-oh... I hope this isn't true... because we are going in January and my mom has been wanting to eat there ever since she went in the 70's...

I will be very upset if this takes place when we are there... not that there's much I could do about it, but it would be a major bummer in our plans.

We were there two years ago during August, and my DH kept getting dripped on. When we made our waitress aware of it she apoligized and said it was condensation from the A/C. My DH shifted his chair to the left and that was the end of it. I wonder if this is the same thing you experienced since it has been hotter than blazes recently ?

Don't count on getting a call from Disney in a "timely" manner. We had reservation in Japan when they re-did Teppan Edo. I found out here on the DIS that it would be closed LONG before I got a call from Disney. Thankfully I had a back-up plan. You might want to book something just in case. :guilty:

In May 2008, it leaked during a rain storm when we were dinning. Our waiter said part of the problem is the set fire works off on the roof.

My daughters would not be happy. All they talk about is going to cinderella's castle. Lets hope they can fix a leak without closing down for a month

Anyone going soon and dining there that can get a pic so people will know for sure? I will be going in 2 weeks however I am not dining there. I will try to find out what I can. But like Robo said this is not normally how things work so don't freak out just yet. :)

Surely if there was a leak in the roof they wouldn't wait until January to fix it, I'd imagine they'd fix it earlier than that so I think you'll be okay OP

A roof leak is supposed to be fixed from the outside but it might be necessary to close down the restaurant for a time, how long depends on how high the ceiling is, to first put up scaffolding and then install temporary overhead troughs to carry the water away.

I'm going to move this to our restaurant board.

We have Jan. ADRs as well. Hope it's something fixable without closing CRT! One of our party is going just for this experience!

When we were there last month, we had a tour guide tell us that scrims will be going up to give guests the illusion of looking out the restaurant windows and into the parks as there will be work being done on the outside. But there no mention of CRT closing during this time- that's why the scrims are going up in the windows.

Well, you guys are making me feel a bit better. I thought it was weird that they would post a sign at the restaurant saying they would be doing renovations in Jaunary. But, Magic Kingdom is under construction so I guess you never know!

Just booked CRT for 2/21. The CM on the phone said the restaurant is going under some repairs, but it will not change the view or interupt dinner.
