So I want to use two of my table credits for CRT I was just reading that full payment is due when booking and do we also get the picture that is included and how do they treat reservations under the DDP?:confused3

If you're on the DDP - they will not charge your credit card when you book CRT. You still get the photo package with your meal. They will still take your credit card # to insure against a no-show, I believe.

We went in September, and when I booked I had to pay in full with my credit card. I booked 180 days out. I was on the dining plan also, but was told that I could pay upfront and use my dining credits there and the cost would be credited to my credit card. But I didn't want o go through the hassle of trying to get a refund, so I never used the 2 credits and just paid with my credit card.
Hope this helps.

I don't know why the CM would tell you that you could use your credits and get a refund (you can, of course), but the better approach would be that they didn't charge you in advance, just took your CC as the guarantee. Sounds like the CM didn't explain it very well, or didn't understand it that well themself.

This is how it was explained to me too.

I'm guessing she booked online? Not having the online system properly "pick up" the associated reservation's dining plan is a pretty common thing (plus having to associate twice right now, hopefully that's part of the Oct 12-14 changes).

For the OP, there are two options to book CRT (I know, I'm sure you know this, but I'm a bit OCD about this :p): Online or Over the phone.

When booking online, you have to confirm your resort reservation in the initial system to view availability beyond 180 days. If you pick CRT from this list, you will have to associate your reservations again and then search for the days and times again. Even if this is done properly, it may ask you to pay up front as it didn't "pick up" your DDP from the resort reservation. If this is the case, there are two options:

  1. Pay now, refund later - You can decide to pay upfront and receive a refund when you dine. This occurs quite often and usually isn't a problem at all for them to do.
  2. Stop and call - If you do not want to pay upfront, you can stop here (at least for CRT) and call Disney Dining to book it. They have better options for forcing it to recognize the DDP on your reservation.

There have been some reports of success in converting the prepayment to a hold ahead of time, but they are very few and far between. More commonly a CM on the phone will cancel the original reservation and attempt to rebook in the same time-slot. It's a little risky, especially if you're calling during a higher volume, as there is a chance it could be snatched up between the cancel and rebook.

The second option, calling Disney Dining, would work as well and they can typically force the system to accept the fact you have a Dining Plan associated with your reservation.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd tag on this one....managed to find a ressie for Feb that we want, and when we go to book online it goes immediately to the part where it takes payment from the CC - there is no mention of DDP, or that the CC is for reservations purposes only. I would have thought the ressie system upgrade would have made things clearer. Does anyone have the definitive answer to this please? We don not want to pay upfront as we are on the DxDDP and don't want to be lumbered with unused credits at the end!

We will call if we have to, but prefer not as we are in the UK.

Did you log in under your reservation?

I had the same problem and they charged me for 6 people even though two of the children will be under 2 at the breakfast.

1) First, there is NO character meal worth 2TS credits.
. . . no character meal worth 2TS
. . . no dinner show worth 2TS
2) Second, you probably will be charged on your card for the ressie.
. . . at appearance, you will get a credit to the card
. . . sometimes, the credit can happen after you have paid hotel ressie

You can now click on a little box that says "I want to use my dining plan" or "I want to to attach it to my dining plan" and go that way online. You still have to enter your CC# as a guarantee.

Rusty,
Just because Ariel turned down your proposal, doesn't mean that others won't find CRT amazingly awesome.

Three days ago I've made an ARD for CRT online is association with my DDP - I provided my credit card information but they didn't charge it. The same was for Fantasmic! dining package.

CRT is charged as 2TS credits because you are dining in the castle. That seems fair to charge 2 because charging one is basically saying that it's an average TS meal.
