Cinderella's Breakfast reservation E-bay outrage

If you want to get action, don't go to eBay. Report the auction to Disney. They take this stuff seriously.

A few years ago, there was a message board that had a forum devoted to helping members get CRT ressies. The group would call right at 7am and secure tables and then they would list their ressie on the board, offering it up to who ever needed it. It became the reason that Disney went to the credit card and photo ID thing.

Believe me, if Disney catches wind of CRT ressies being auctioned off at eBay, they'll have the auction shut down in no time flat. eBay considers this to be a VeRO (Verified Rights of Ownership) violation. Technically, Disney owns the CRT ressie, not the seller. You cannot sell what you do not own.

I suggest emailing Disney with the eBay auction number and a description of the auction if this is a concern to you.

I reported this to Disney last night. I'll keep you updated of any progress.

I emailed the seller to ask how the reservation would get switched to mu name. No, I am not really interested in bidding. It could be that the seller is not aware that they can't do this. I'm giving it a shot.

Why not let them know you wouldn't be bidding, but telling them of your concerns..rather than pretending you are a potential bidder? I think that just feeds the frenzy, and gives the seller believe there is interest. If Disney pulls the auction, they'll just do as others have, when selling something not allowed. Such as "I have a pencil for sale. I'll include free, my reservation to Cindy's Castle".

Again, just report it, (as suggested) rather than sneak around. Even asking the seller questions (and posting here you have no intentions of buying) could be considered spam via eBay, and that makes you in the wrong.

Good idea. I'll do exactly that, right now.

The auction is still there. Buyer beware! Maybe this seller is just really dumb. :confused3 They had to give their CC number right???? How would you get around that?

Richard Bruvofetc ~ I would like to report this to Disney as well. (The more of us they hear from the more likely they are to do something.) Can you please share the email address that you used? Thanks!

For anyone wanting to report it to ebay the link is:

I really doubt that ebay is going to do anything about it, though.

Just an FYI.

Emailing a bidder in another person's auction is against ebay rules and could be grounds for suspension if the person you email reports you to ebay.

Your intentions may be good and in the interest of not seeing someone get taken, however ebay considers this spam. It's referred to as auction interference.

Well, you learn something new every day :goodvibes
The auction's still there though so neither E-Bay nor Disney seem to be too interested if everyone has mailed them as has been said earlier in the thread :confused3

It can take eBay sometimes 3 days for to react to anything. That is why many shady ebay auctions are 3 day auctions.

has anyone called 407-WDW-DINE to report it with the exact info?

June 11, 2005 @ 9:40am, party of 5, seller is from Annapolis Maryland (per their eBay location)......

who knows? I have reported numerous problems to eBay that continue without action (because eBay gets a PROFIT of whatever sells, so I don't think they really care).

While planning my AP on TourguidMike.com There was a comment by Mike that stated that " CRT ressies are hard to get.. they even sell them on ebay." I think Mike is affiliated with Disney so I would imagine that they may already know. I will be watching to see how this turns out. :flower:

Thanks for all the response and support. I learned alot about e-bay and it's policies i did not know, I am still amazed and disappointed that someone would do this but am glad for your DIZ response. :goodvibes

There sure are a lot of "Ebay Police" out there!!! I have been emailed several times after bidding on auctions where the person wants to warn me about the seller, I have to say I don't appreciate it. Let Ebay handle it. I told DH and he said he might just pay $9.99 not to have to get up early 5 days in a row to make CRT ressies (and we got lucky, some people don't get them).

It would be nice if Disney would come up with something were you can make PS's/AR's online instead of calling long distance and having to get up early to make Cindy reservations.

I noticed on the bottom it reads:
No shipping involved but will need to contact the winner quickly to make arrangements.

I wonder if the seller is planning on calling to cancel the reservation and have the buyer call at the same time try to pick it up. Thus the sellers name and credit card will be off the reservation.

Here's a bad copy of the actual eBay auction: Check out this persons' feedback! Even if people were interested, no one would bid by their reputation!

Just curious as to why you say? that the person has one negative, not exactly a rip-off artist. low activiy and several purchases from disney direct. sounds like he/she might be legit and just not know they can't really sell the PS.

1 negative out of 15 sales. Those 15 sales go all the way back to 2002. Not a regular ebayer. I agree with robsmom, they may actually think they can just call WDW and switch the reservation over to someone else, not knowing any better (which doesn't make it right either but they may not be a con artist).

OK, I have to admit something, I hate to admit (actually someone else on this board said if I didn't post this, they would "out" me :goodvibes ). I had a ressie for the Castle in May. Someone on this board really really wanted one to bring a child for a birthday. I called and switched it into her last name. It was very easy, and I really didn't think I was doing anything wrong..and Disney didn't indicate it was. They just told to make sure they knew to give my name, if their name didn't come up, and to pay for the total, and I would not be charged. They did pay apparently (maybe they'll come on and say how it went) since I wasn't charged anything. While I wasn't selling it, it couldn't have been easier. I promise to never do it again (especially since I've never been to the castle in 28 visits, cause I'm too lazy to get up early LOL..I made this reservation in the middle of the day a week or so before we went.).

Whew, confession is good for the soul!

DMRick, I've been thinking about this very thing... and Disney is well aware that this happens all the time, what you did, but not "selling" it on ebay... I'm sure the dust hasnt settled on ebay yet...
