Cinderella's Breakfast reservation E-bay outrage

How true, some of the auctions on Ebay are so sad. Its really sad to see someone pay $20,000 for a piece of toast, or a dust bunny. And then in the auction they claim to not care about the money they just want it out of their houses. So I have to stop and ask, why did you start the bidding at such a high price? Why not just donate it to good will if you really want it gone that badly. And now with this person selling their Ressies, no matter how hard they are to get, the seller didnt pay to get the reservations in the first place! But you cant help some people that are willing to shell out the big bucks for nothing but junk. Not that Im calling the reservations junk, and I know no one has bid on it yet.

Now that the seller has ended the auction, I feel free to post here about the correspondence I had with her. I first sent an email through eBay to question how someone else could use a reservation that had been made under her name and credit card. She responded that she had checked with Disney, and had been told that the name on the ressie could be changed, etc. It turns out that she actually has a reservation for 7, but due to family illness, etc., only she and her young daughter will be able to go. She said she has been trying to get reservations her last 9 trips to Disney, and this is the first time she was successful. She hoped that by offering the 5 ressies she can't use on eBay, she could wind up sharing the experience with a family who would appreciate the opportunity.

I sent her a link to this thread, so perhaps she came and read all the negative responses and decided not to fight it. I considered suggesting that she offer the 5 ressies here, but I figured she (and I) would probably get flamed. In all fairness, I don't think this is a case of someone purposely trying to "scalp" the tickets. I think she is disappointed that her other family members aren't able to go, and wanted to share her good fortune with someone who would appreciate it. I also think she was under the impression that if she wasn't able to use all 7 admissions, she would have to cancel entirely, and disappoint herself and her daughter. I suggested that she just call Disney and cancel the 5 she won't be using - and still go and enjoy her time with her daughter.

I'm not defending her right to list them on eBay, but I also think there are usually two sides to every story, and it's hard to judge a person's motives by simply looking at one eBay listing. I'd like to give her the benefit of a doubt, and hope that she and her daughter will enjoy their breakfast with Cindy.

If she just wanted to share the experience with another family and not make a buck, then why didn't she offer it starting at a penny? She took the time to list it but it would have taken her less time to google a disney message board and post it for free.

I'm afraid I didn't get quite the same response from the seller when I contacted.

"It took me 6 years to get this and now I can't use it. I think if I cancel it, it will probably not get used or some deserving family will never know what they missed. Some lucky person, who has no idea how difficult it is will wind up getting it by dumb luck. I've already paid $30 and many sleepless mornings waking up and speed dialing long distance to get this. I was told, BY DISNEY DINING repeatedly, I could give it to my sister (i.e., I CAN CHANGE THE NAME) but she can't use it either. I would like someone who really appreciates it to get it."

As you can see, she doesn't say she can't use part of her ressie. She say she can't use it at all. My only question to this ebayer is who decides who is more deserving. She states she doen't want some one to get it because of "dumb luck". I think there were many other options she could have explored before she put this ressie up for sale. Disney has a advance dining procedure in place and it's not up to her to redesign it.

"Funny, my short and to the point description has not been read by many people watching the auction. So I'm adding more.

But first, thanks to all the kind people who sent me info about the risk I am taking of getting charged as a "no show" with this priority seating (PS).

I don't like to add too much personal info since I think it sounds creapy and fake but I'm not sure how to answer some of the questions without it.

As for this PS, I've tried for years to get the Cinderalla breakfast. This time I got through when it was still available. Since multitudes of my relatives claimed they wanted to go with me, I made larger reservation. Now only me and 1 of my children can go.

Disney dining has said I CAN CHANGE THE NAME on the PS if I want. I've already called to give it to another relative who now can't go.

I've never had to show ID nor my credit card to get in to any PS for any meals I've had any where in Disney World, but again I've never been lucky enough to get the breakfast with Cinderalla.

Disney dining has told me THEY DO NOT ASK FOR ID. The last agent I spoke to specifically said they don't ask for it unless there are extraordinary circumstances like you don't have your confirmation number, they don't have your name at all or you have the exact same check in time as someone with the exact same name.

Personally, I've already paid a deposit more than auction price. I feel ill at the thought I cancelling. I think Disney may not reallocate what's left of my table, or if they do, then someone random caller will get it. They willl likely have no idea how lucky they were.

However, for all the people who have made scam comments, I don't want to try to do anything with the seating now since my credit card is attached to it"

The kicker is she's not OUT any money by cancelling because it's not less than 24 hours in advance - she can cancel it and lose nothing...

This is a hoot. She actually thinks Disney will not give those reservations to someone else? For a seating that typically sells out 5 minutes after it's available? Oh, and heaven forbid some "random caller" ends up with it. Wouldn't that be a tragedy? No, she's not in it for the money - her motives are very altruistic! Hey, I'm not opposed to being in it for the money. Money is a good thing. I just think it's ridiculous that she's trying to make it sound like she's doing a good deed by selling these reservations (and implying that she'll lose her deposit) instead of simply cancelling them.

I too had correspondence with her, I got the impression that she wanted MORE seats than what she originally requested and was unable to obtain them. IMHO, she knew exactly what she was doing was wrong, and just got caught.

I've had many questions about the name and the reservation. All I know is what Disney dining keeps telling me: I can change the name on it. They told me you don't have to show ID unless there is a problem with the reservation, like if you ask for the worng name or if there's 2 Mr. Smith's checking in at the same time. I've never been lucky enough to get a time with Cinderella, but I've never had to show ID for other seatings at the castle or the other meals at Disney. I've put down $30 for the reservation. I thought if I cancelled it, (I can get my money back if cancelled 24 hrs notice) all the people who put it such enormous effort would never even know there was one up for grabs. Either no one will get it, or some one will get it and have no appreciation for it. This auction is a great deal more trouble than it's worth though and I'm trying figure out how to withdraw it. I guess I will just go with my daughter and pay a waiter to video the whole thing to show my husband.

If the original reservation was for 7 people why did she only have to put down a $30.00 deposit? As I remember it is $10.00 per person.
I also have never been asked for identification at CRT or PSB although when I paid for the meal the name matched.

In any case, the auction has ended without a bidder, and people here had a chance to vent. Whoever gets a ressie because she cancels at least part of hers will undoubtedly already know how lucky they were - and who is she to "decide" that someone getting it without paying ten bucks to her won't have an appreciation for it. Ah, well, now the "outrage" is over, and we can all go back to planning our magical trips to Disney World.

I agree thisi s wrong but I have been the 3 times and never asked for an ID and never paid with a CC and last year I didn't put money or CC down. I just hope no one buys this. Who even knows if this person has a PS for CRT.
