Cinderella Wedding...I have the gown, the tiara, the shoes, and just about every detail of my wedding planned out but I need some input. We are having our colors be Pink and Orange. She has a pink dress and the pumpkin is orange. Haha...that's not why we picked those colors seriously. Anyways, I need some help on floral. We are on a tight budget when it comes to this so I am unsure how to go about this. Our site has the fake floral (not to fond of) but I'm dealing with using it in some areas but would still love some real floral. What would be some inexpensive floral ideas for September?? Again the colors are pink and orange. The centerpieces are carriages with Pink & Orange votive holders with the white candles.

Another area I need help on...has anyone done a dessert buffet? We were thinking of ways to save money (so I get my full length honeymoon as planned) and one area to cut in was food. It's going to be Noon so we thought a dessert buffet would be something fun and neat. Any ideas on how to go about these??

One last thing that I can think of right now...he doesn't want a grooms cake. I want him to have one. What should we do??

So Floral, Food, and Cake...

Thanks in advance and I hope I can get some help and advice soon.

After all the floral drama, I was told roses are still one of the cheapest flowers for a wedding- I bet pink and orange would be beautiful!
As for a dessert buffet- maybe cupcakes or a donut cake (saves on the high prices of an actual wedding cake).
I love the desert buffet idea! You could do fun names that go with the theme to really add to it! You could do things like Gus-Gus' cookies, the fairy God Mother's fountain (the whole chocolate fountain with the extras are fun), maybe even some puff pastries (look like pillows) with creme and a chocolate crown/shoe on top (you could make it from chocolate candy molds). You could even do pumpkin pies that represent the coach after it turned back into a pumpkin!
I love the idea of decorating with pumpkins around the dessert table for the whole coach theme!
This sounds like a great theme and a lot of fun! Have fun planning! Please keep us updated!

Do Disney make these kind of desserts? I'm wondering because each photo I see of a dessert party, the tables are covered in brown chocolate desserts and I was hoping for some cookies and cupcakes in pretty colours - can they do that? :) And what extras do they have with the chocolate fountain? marshmallows? fruit? Mmmmm!!!

Might be fun to get the little glass coaches with horses from Michael's to hold some party favors as well??

Just a heads up but we attended a friend's outdoor ceremony with a chocolate fountain and it wasn't pretty, the wind kept blowing it everywhere!!

Made for some funny pictures but not sure it would be easy to get out of a white dress :rotfl2:

For flowers maybe they could dye some carnations orange for you? We're in Bronco country here and every year they have orange and blue carnations at the store for us fans. Seems cheaper??

Two things to consider...

If the reception is at noon, guests may be expecting to eat a more substantial meal than dessert, so you might want to warn them to eat big breakfasts before they come!

And I say, if the groom doesn't want a groom's cake, skip it and use the money to pad your floral budget! :thumbsup2

Just a quick note about chocolate fountains....I love them, *but* they can be very messy (even indoors)...If you love the idea of the fountain, but getting brown chocolate on your dress would ruin your day, consider getting a fountain with white chocolate (most places can also do various colors...like pink or orange ;))

As far as flowers go, a previous poster was right, roses can actually be pretty cheap (epecially pink for some reason). Also Hydrangea, (I don't think it comes in orange though) can be a beautiful and very economical choice. They're a great" filler" flower also. Like perhaps some arrangements with pink and orange roses stuck in white hydranges.
Also, I know most people dislike them, but Carnations can actually give you great bang for your buck. IF they are used appropriately. Tightly packed carnations (perhaps in a hand tied bouquet?) can actually resemble much pricer peonies. I've also seen table tops topped with tightly packed carnations (stuck in floral foam), and then the couple laid the tented escort cards ontop of the flowers. The cards weren't very heavy so they didn't hurt the flowers, and it made a great first impression for the guests.

As far as the grooms cake...why doesn't he want a grooms cake? If it's a money issue, research low-cost alternatives (perhaps a "cake" of his favorite treat, such as donuts? Or hostess treats?)...

I also love the idea of decorating with pumpkins (especially with your theme)... maybe you could even use them as cheap vases for some of your floral? If someone is talented enough you could even have the carved perhaps, with your monogram?

Thanks to all who have responded thus far. I'm getting some great ideas and I'm enjoying all the helpful hints with everything. I know DFi looked at the ideas and he loved them! He was surprised people were willing to give such great input! I really do appreciate it all and thank you SO much for the great ideas. I promise to keep everyone updated and as soon as I get pictures of things I will post them. If I can go sneak a picture of the centerpiece they have done I'll post it to get feedback on if ya'll like it or not. I think it's beautiful but would love some other input.

OMG!! I totally love the naming ideas! I was trying to think of names for the tables and I never thought to name the food. Better yet I truly love the names that you picked. The ideas that you have are awesome. I never thought to use a pumpkin pie not during the holidays...not to convince my grandmother to do the baking since she makes the best! Just two or three and I'd even help.

I am excited that you said that about the colored chocolate. We went to a Bridal Show and they had a Hot Pink chocolate and I thought that is my fountain right there! Thanks for reminding me about it. Now to get it past DFi without him saying no to too much pink. :rotfl: As for the grooms cake he doesn't want on mostly for money (although he claims other reasons) but I told him if we got a simple sheet cake it wont be that much he still doesn't want on. He has this thing where I think he does but is worried about money and if that is the case I know how to get a decent yummy cake real inexpensive. Although I might have to check into a cake with his favorite treat...now to figure it out. Our centerpieces are actually the carriages that are the metal ones. Our wedding location doesn't normally do decorating the centerpieces but when I told them our theme and showed them 3 of the ladies jumped to help!! Only one has finished hers but I like it so much I think I might consider just picking it before being stuck with a which is the best dilema.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I got a phone call on a job I applied for and if I get it and DFi gets this new job we are truly looking at a much better food option. If we still keep the dessert idea and just desserts I'll be sure to give a heads up, I didn't even consider it until you said that.

We actually considered the carriages for favors but we found a sale for the slippers at Hobby Lobby and bought them 8 for $1 and I really wanted this a bit more. Although one of the ladies helping with the wedding her mother went out and bought us some carriges as soon as her daughter told her about our wedding even though she isn't suppose to drive and doesn't even know us. How sweet! I'm glad that you suggested the carnations because I considered doing carnations and was told it was "tacky." If so they would be dyed Pink & Orange for sure.
