I am making my reservations now... My bf and I wanted to have dinner by ourselves at Cinderella's Royal Table and we cannot because we don't have a credit card! They require a card be put down andthe person whose card it is has to be there eating! :guilty: :sad2: Im so upset. Has anybody else ever encountered this? I was hoping there was something we could do about it but the guy on the phone says there isnt... :confused3
just wondering if anybody knows any way i can get around this although i doubt there was... you never know sometimes people have tricks

Unfortunately, this is a new policy. It has to be paid in full with a CC or debit card (unless you are on the dining plan, then they need a CC to hold for a no show penalty).

actually it doesnt have to be paid with it, it just has to be held with it.

I've heard that they're now billing the CC/DC for the meal right after the reservation is made at CRT only. All the other places merely hold the ressie with a CC/DC.

Actually, it does have to be paid in full with a CC and only held with a CC IF you are on the dining plan...either way, you need a CC.

You do have to pre-pay for your meal. I booked breakfast :confused3 July for me, DH, & DS and I was required to prepay for the meal. $102.00!!! (for breakfast!!!)

Hey, buy one of the visa cards at the mall or your bank for a prepaid visa. It costs about $1.50 and if yu do not use it within 6 months they charge but it is a great idea for shopping online anywhere.

My best advice to you, is to get a pre-paid Credit card. It works just like a credit card and is accepted like a credit card. I've bought pre-paid visas as gifts for my nieces. Heck, I actually bought them at Walgreen's of all places. I got 2 $100 cards. My nieces used them to purchase MP3's for their Ipods.

Other than that, I'd reccommend that if you have an ATM Card get it switched to a debit card. They do take those if they have the Visa or mastercard logo. It's all we use, since we don't use credit cards at all.

Unfortunately, this wont work...they need a CC with a Name & address attached to it.

Do you have a checking/savings acct with a Debit card? If so most debit cards have a VISA or MasterCard logo on them. Thats pretty much all you can do. Good Luck

Why don't you crazy kids just apply for a credit card? :thumbsup2

Yes, unfortunately that is the case with this meal. Do you have an ATM card attached to your checking account that can be a cc'd or a debit card? There was a point when they would hold a reservation for a certain number of days provided you sent a check asap to hold it - sorry that didn't work for you.

You can blame those who used dialers, cellphones and dual lines, got on the phone every morning at 7am to secure reservations and got as many reservations as they could. Then they would turn around and give them to whom they saw fit or sell them on e-bay.

I hope you can figure out a way to get your meal, perhaps try again tomorrow at 7 and use a relatives cc'd with the same last name?

I had the same problem when booking CRT for our last trip!! I was really surprised when the CM said there was nothing that could be done for those without credit cards. I think there should be an option to pay with a check and then if you don't get your check to them within a certain number of days your reservation is cancelled. Anyway, I just went to my bank and got a debit card. It took about 5 or 6 days to arrive and luckily there were still reservations available when I called back after getting the card.

Those work the same as credit cards for things like reservations.

Buy a Mastercard gift card. We sell them at the Bank. Or maybe you could get a Debit card for your checking account. Good Luck!

Even better, make it a Disney Visa, and earn reward dollars.... :thumbsup2

On the issue of the gift/pre-paid cards be very careful when using them for travel. I took the liberty of reading the fine print on the AMEX gift cards. The kind they sale at my local grocery store (Tom Thumb) and they are not good for many travel related items (ie hotel bills and I believe airfare). :sad2:

i DID apply for a credit card-Disney Visa-and i got the denial mail that morning lol. So I came up with a solution right after I wrote this thread but unfortunatly I didnt have time yesterday to tell everyone  I got a visa check card at my bank. It's accepted as a credit card but there is instant approval. Since I have NO credit history getting a card would be difficult so this is my best bet. Im holding my reservation with my mom's card and then switching it to mine when it comes in the mail. The disney rep i talked to said this is fine. Also they do not charge the card before the meal. I am on the dining plan so perhaps this is why but they told me that's not what the card is for anyways. They said they will charge us if we dont show up. For the two of us it was 96$.

On that note also, I would suggest getting Traveler's Cheques. They are good for anything and you get cash back when you break them. They are also insured! So if they get lost or stolen you get your $$$ back. I also feel it's safer as far as people checking your signature for it. On credit cards these days most places don't check at all. We used TCs the last time we went and it worked out great.

Based on the negative reviews I've been reading here, I just today cancelled our dinner at CRT for early May.

Also they do not charge the card before the meal.

Oh yes they do. It didn't show up on my statement for a few weeks, but it did eventually.

I figured for the $95 plus dollars (for 2 of us) it cost to eat at CRT, we can get much better food elsewhere.
