Cinderella Royal Table

Monique, thansk for confirming that we can leave say, MK an then reutrn to MK the same day without the park hopper. I guess I was thinking of doing 1900 Park Fare from Mk and then returning for more rides, fireworks or the electrical parade. Didn't even think about Epcot. Are they are all on the monorail?
As for the resturants, not necessarily narrowing down to just one...trying to figure it all out. I do want to take my daughter to the BBB (which would just be the two of us), but really do want to do all meals with all of us (i.e. husband and son too). I've heard the step sisters at 1900 Park Fare are funny...but full castle experience sounds lovely too. But again, we have to balance for both kids as my 9 year old will notice if everything is girly and it's not fair to him. I'm thinking too that he's a bit old for Mickey so maybe the character meals in general wouldn't mean much.

I have a son and a daughter and it’s just me (no dad) so no splitting up. It’s inevitable that with character meals the meal may be more for one child than the other. My daughter is 10 and kind of balks at Hollywood and Vine because it’s Disney Junior characters. Actually she just doesn’t like to admit she likes them. She has fun once she’s there. Don’t tell her I said that. But I remind her that her brother sits through not just a princess meal, but her BBB makeover and photo session during the trip. And even though he’s little, he seems to really enjoy seeing her get that attention. Maybe your son sits through a princess meal, but gets to do something else. If he doesn’t want a Mickey based character meal, perhaps Pirate’s League. He and dad could actually do Pirate's League together since there's no upper age limit. There is also Knight package at BBB.

We have not done the 1900 Park Fare dinner so I can’t comment on it. My daughter thinks the stepsisters are funny from a distance, but overall doesn’t want to deal with the Tremaine family.

If you have never been, I do believe that eating at CRT is worth it. Your son will get a sword and the Princesses do tend to have great interaction with little Princes. Most recently we had breakfast at CRT and it was very good. And if you can get a pre park opening time, that is even better. (Just make sure you get to MK at opening on another day to see the welcome show!)

Yes you can get to 1900 PF from MK on the monorail. I don't know when you are going, but just be aware that there is maintenance going on for the monorail until the end of March.

I LOVE the dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Ask for a table by the server kitchen entrance as that is where the characters enter and exit so we got 2 visits from Cinderella and longer visits from everyone else. The food is also excellent!!

luvmy2babies, I hear you. My son too would say he's too old, but secretly enjoy it. That's neat...didn't knwo that they had a male stuff at BBB.

Smart of them to give the boys swords. Have heard coming to MK when it opens is a great time for photos. We'll be coming in October so hopefully the monorail wil be up and running by then.

I just read another post about CRT with boys...so really doesn't sound like an isssue.

So another question...is CRT better for breakfast or dinner? We definitely want a sit down dinner each night...with lunch being quick service and breakfast mostly quick service.

Is the experience the same? e.g. same characters?
How does the meal compare?
Are they both buffets?

We ate a birthday dinner at CRT as a group of three male adults and had a great time. We all got wishing stars and swords (despite it being my 29th Birthday!) all the princesses were very nice and the food was good. A friend and I were then sword fighting for the rest of the evening :)

Also although it is 2 credits on the DDP it is three courses (most TS meals are only main & dessert) and the photo with Cinderella and gratuities are included as well as the toy sword (or wand). Therefore I think it doe seem good value as you don't need to worry about the tip as well as getting the photos.

The characters will usually be the same at each meal at CRT unless there's an illness or another reason that requires a switch. It's Cinderella downstairs and 4 other princesses in the restaurant. They just don't officially guarantee who those four will be. Last I heard, the other four were Jasmine, Snow White, Ariel, and Aurora. I can't tell you how the meals compare as we have only done dinner, but we'll be doing lunch in May. None of the meals at CRT are buffets though. You order from a menu.

1900 Park Fare is a buffet meal. Cinderella and crew are only there at dinner. Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare is a different cast of characters: Alice in Wonderland, Pooh, Mad Hatter, and Mary Poppins I believe.

Wow...so in the end, spending 2 table credits may be worth it.

I'm beginning to think we should book both as we'll have 2 days at MK:
  • 1900 Park Fare (dinner)
  • Crystal Royal Palace (breakfast or lunch?)

Oh, but I also had BOG on our list...and only 2 Magic Kingdom days.

. . . . . None of the meals at CRT are buffets though. You order from a menu.

At least at breakfast, though, you can eat as much as you want from the menu items, including trying more than one, or mixing and matching. Despite rumors to the contrary, it has not changed to "one-and-done".

If you were at Magic Kingdom and left to eat at 1900 park fare, not only to you have the momorail, but you can actually travel by boat. Our kids love this option, and we often take the boat back so they can have that experience. The step sisters at 1900 park fare are HILARIOUS. They were our favorite part. We are actually dining there in June to give my 20 year old cousin, the experience. it will be her first time at Disney and she was amazing enough to agree to a free trip to Disney in exchange for some baby sitting and help with the 4 little ones.

I find myself in the same boat as you, my DD 5 loves the princess my DS 9 not so much, he can handle 1 maybe 2 dinners with them but he wants to do more boyish things. Here is what I do: I do either the castle or 1900 park fare for my DD on the day I do magic kingdom, we take the boat over or back to 1900 and return for the fireworks. We have in the past taken DS t the priates league and let him get all done up in a pirates costume (which I purchased before hand at the disney store) so my DD has her princess dress on, and my DS is captain hook. It makes the experience less girly for him :) On our off day we take my DS to the contemporary and do Chef Mickeys. It is his favorite. the color scheme, the goofy characters, and the monorail though the hotel is a huge hit for my DS. He loves it. We then go over to Downtown Disney for some Disney quest. If you are staying on property your ravel documents will have 2 free admissions to Disney quest, to help cut the cost. No matter what you do understand that your children are at Disney world and they will have a blast no matter what they do. Enjoy your trip

We did dinner at CRT in October. I say it is definitely worth it. The food was good and the experience is one of a kind. I have two 8 year old boys and while we did this meal for our DD 4 they enjoyed it just as much. We did it before the Halloween party. My DD had done BBB and the boys had pirate shirts, bandanas on. They enjoyed the swords and really thought eating in the castle was neat. The atmosphere is really cool and we took their picture with the night in armor. I'd say its a must do and honestly I think your son will end up enjoying it. He doesn't have to take his picture with the princesses if that's too much but mine did. They did not during the meet and greets but chose to here. I think they just really got into the magic.

My family has eaten there twice. Both for dinner. Once in 2011 and once October 2013. I will say this the food improved a lot from 2011 to 2013. We actually threw my daughter 5th birthday in the castle. They offer a great celebration package for an extra fee. She got a tiara, balloon, an engraved glass slipper, and a cake. It was an amazing experience. She was dressed up from her morning at BBB. The food is good, the service is good, the characters come to the table, they smile for a picture, and they sign the books. You get a photo package included in the price, and the kids get a wishing star and a magic wand. It is a wonderful experience worth doing at least once. My son is 8 he was fine with it. the princesses called him Charming and smiled at him, which is every boys dream...if your daughter would enjoy it then its worth the 2 meals. You can get a similar experience at Akershus in Epcot for 1 meal credit. you get a photo and the princess are there. or at 1900 park fare, that actually has the evil step mother, and step sisters and prince charming for the boys.

Planning on doing DD 5th birthday here this September. Do you happen to have any pictures from the celebration package??

I really think it is worth it. We just had dinner there in January and the experience was great. I have an 8 year old DD and a 6 year old DS and they both enjoyed it. My DS received a sword and my DD a magic wand. We had pictures downstairs with Cinderella (You receive an 8X10 picture with the meal) and we had Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White and Ariel all visit the table.

I think the food was very good and you can't beat eating in the castle.

We went for dinner back in 2006 and they had the Fairy Godmother and the 2 mice visit during dinner and the food was not very good. We had no plans to go back since the experience wasn't that great.

Knowing it would be about 4 year before we go back to Disney I decided we should try the castle again because the next time the kids will be older. I am so glad we did, I love having all the princesses visit and the food is much improved. The service was amazing and overall became one of our favorite meals of the vacation.

We also do the Princess breakfast at Akershaus in Norway and that is alot of fun too and we LOVE their breakfast.

Oh, but I also had BOG on our list...and only 2 Magic Kingdom days.

You can do BOG as a Quick Service for Lunch. Just get in line at 1030 and you will be able to eat there. The place is HUGE and when you go for lunch you can eat in any room you want. The line looked really long but I heard it moves fast and even though we were all the way out the gate and around the wall and all the way near the end, once the doors opened at 11am we started moving. We were seated and waiting for our food by noon.

We did BBB for my son and my daughter. My son got the knight package which is only $15.00. They spiked up his hair and sprinkled him with confetti/pixie dust and he got a sword and shield. He really enjoyed it.

When we did CRT for dinner it was really cool because as it got dark outside all the rides and castles started to light up so it was really neat to look outside and see the new Beast's Castle all lit up and the carousel.

1900 Park Fare is really fun. We did dinner there in 2011 and met Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Druzilla. The step sisters are HILARIOUS. They fight with each other and really interact with everyone. The adults at our table had the most fun bantering with them. We like that you actually get to meet a prince and he comes right to the table and does autographs, takes pictures and interacts with everyone. Plus he and Cinderella do a waltz together and get kids to join in with them.

I see that your Dis name is Frozen and you mentioned that your daughter loves Anna and Elsa. I just wanted to say that if you want to meet Anna and Elsa they are in Norway and the line to meet them is atrocious. We planned breakfast at Akershaus with the intent that we would be outside and in line at 9am to meet them at 11am. Their meet and greet is literally across from breakfast. Our breakfast went a little longer than planned and we didn't get out the door till 9:15am and there were already 30 people in front of us and we just barely made the 11am meet and greet cut off. The bonus for eating breakfast at Akershaus is that you can make an 8am reservation and get in Epcot before they open at 9am. So if you get out of Akershaus by 8:55am you could be first in line to meet them. If you try to meet them and don't get in line by 9am you could have to wait all day. They do meet and greets at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. By 11am they already had cut off the line for the 4pm meet and greet.

Thanks for all the tips. Since posting this, have decided:
- CRT for dinner
- BOG for dinner
- Akershus for breakfast

I don't think my son would be jump at the knight package (he'd prefer to spend the time on rides, etc...and he's more reserved and wouldn't want attention to himself)...but am planning on doing BBB with my daughter on day of CRT.

And yes...my DD LOVES Frozen and would go crazy to meet Elsa and Anna. Assuming they are still there in Oct, that sounds like great plan. Thanks for the tip. ...although standing in line for 2hrs sounds very long :confused3

I read you want to hit Epcot on an Early Magic Hours day and head straight there to stand in line. That is my plan in Sept now! Will send Hubs and Daughter off for breakfast while I stand in line. Am hopeful they add a FP+ option by the time I go!

We took my kids to Cindy's when my son was about 9 and I thought he wouldn't like the Princess-iness of the place, but he really loved it. Something special about being in the castle and it's a really cool dining room environment. He's 21 now and still wants to go back when we're down there in May.

Although now he prolly just wants to hit on Cinderella.

I agree that I think that everyone should eat in the castle at least once. We ate dinner here on our last trip. Our DD were 4 & 10. When we talk Disney to our youngest. Eating & meeting all the princess is her memory. The food was great but since our older DD was considered an adult it was hard to find something for her. DH had to switch meals with her so neither of them were extremely happy with the meal. Since it is a 2 credit, I would only really eat dinner if you want to get your money worth.

We have really enjoyed 1900 Park fare. The step sisters are a hoot!! Even my older DD got into this even though she was a tween. Food is a buffet but I feel is one of the better ones.

Really, you are the only one who knows your family. I would look over the menu for each before you book.
