Ciao Mickey, This is NOT Disney. The real Europe visited...8/16 - Day 9.11 & 9.12

The flowers are gorgeous, Scott; thanks for sharing.

More nice pictures of the canal.

I'm glad you all enjoyed lunch, and enjoyed the picture of you all...nice job "stitching" the two photos together.

Your room looks nice. I prefer a shower as well (unless the tub has jets, of course).
Thank you and your welcome.
I took a lot of the canal and the most is about to come.
Thanks.
:rotfl2: I can understand that.

Nice room. I guess it served the purpose of bed and shower...and it all looked clean.

But I'm with you. I think I would have preferred a room with a view....of canals.
It was a beautiful hotel. It was once a monastery.
I think I would stay here again because it was clean and so close to the train station which I think is important. Hopefully I get to choose again someday. :lmao: but staying on the canal would be nice if I could get one close to the station.

Finally caught up again.
Again I can't say enough about how gorgeous your pictures are. They are all like post cards!
That picture of your friend....with the painted arm in the most inappropriate area......well I died laughing and I don't even know her. :rotfl2:
:thumbsup2
Thank you.
:rotfl2: Poor Barbara. That is Vinny's sister and I cry every time I see it.

Gorgeous pictures Scott! The "Italian" flowers are so pretty and the colors so vibrant. It's frustrating when you can't get cell service and you can't get in touch with others. I'm glad that you weren't separated from the group for too terribly long. :thumbsup2

Thank you.

It was very frustrating. I twas only us who had Verizon that had issues. Donna & Mark had T-Mobile and never had an issue.

Now that we toured the room lets take a look at the other areas.

This was outside our door.

This was next to our door.

here are closer looks at the items inside the case.

15486535580_4ab7076b70_c.jpg

Now I was going to go outside into the courtyard.
15486134397_0d3a4e6a20_c.jpg

The area out here was really lovely and looked like a nice place to have a drink or eat.
15486533560_b11d32dda8_c.jpg

Here is the bell tower. The hotel used to be a monastery and I believe they had some literature on the history.
15671344145_67d17cdaa3_c.jpg

In the center was a sitting area. Again great area to sit and have wine.
15672925912_9429a07463_c.jpg

Plant.
15485459189_40344fe48e_c.jpg

In the back were more tables to eat at.
15051972293_c82cd3765e_c.jpg

Then a stone path leads you to another sitting area.
15486127607_5347daea69_c.jpg

Here is what you can sit on.

The outside part of the building.
15669410901_b7e5dfd672_c.jpg

They had a banana tree back there.
15671334535_b01af80ff1_c.jpg

Then I went back inside. I saw this on the wall.
15051962283_e27b09d22d_c.jpg

Fake candle.
15051960693_174c1639c3_c.jpg

Then I took photos of the items on the walls. This was all in the area of the red furniture.
15669403341_383921f430_c.jpg

This was above the door to the bathroom.
15485931198_ffeb3ed5a1_c.jpg

Then I took a pic of the door looking out.
15671328025_6342e23720_c.jpg

Then we went out to explore. Time to stop again.

Up next,

Just sit right back and you will hear a tale…..

Wow....beautiful things in the case which look very expensive.

I love the sitting areas in the courtyards and the unusual chairs, etc. Very nice.

And some very different light fixtures too.

What pretty things in the cabinets. I'm betting that they'd cost a pretty penny if you were to ask at the concierge desk as they instructed.

I love all of the outdoor sitting/eating areas. The wicker/rattan/whatever it is furniture is so pretty.

Caught up again! Gorgeous pictures! Those roads down the mountain look scary, though. I've seen videos of roads like those - showing large buses and tractor-trailer type vehicles making those corners. Very scary.

The hotel looks nice. Too bad youre only staying for one night!

Yes it did. I did not touch. :lmao:
it was a very nice area. Wish we used it.
:thumbsup2

I am pretty sure they would. :lmao:
It was very nice.

Very stylish indeed.
:thumbsup2

it really was.

I have seen videos from India of roads that I could never go one if you paid me.

The hotel looks nice. Too bad youre only staying for one night!
it really was. Yes it was but if we go back we will stay again.

That's a very interesting hotel. European hotels seem so different from those in the US, but it really has a lot of character. The courtyard looks so relaxing.

I cracked up over the clothes line picture. :rotfl2: I guess that's one way to do it!

I love how they take old buildings ad turn them into something new instead of knocking them down and building new.

:rotfl2: I still would be afraid they would fall in. A lot of people hang their laundry out in Italy.

After touring the hotel we left it and had a mission to see if we could do. Now I had made no tour plans for Venice because we heard it not much to see (this is so false). They had an idea and we walked over to see if we could do it.

Here is the alley looking from the hotel to the canal.
15679757842_2954372a97_c.jpg

We walked over by the train station and a couple from our group went into the tourist office there and got us a private boat ride. it is for an hour on a taxi. They told us where to go and wait so we did.
15676240791_26a0bf76d5_c.jpg

This was across from us.
15492778848_b8f7e3c8af_c.jpg

We weren’t sure if it was the right spot but then we figured it was and it turned out it was. Here is our boat and driver coming.
15678163785_9479057f6f_c.jpg

Now let me say that Lorraine & Barbara were nervous about going on. Barbara does not swim and Lorraine does not like the water, she will not even put her toe in. But we all got on and we were off. Vinny, me and Jeff I think went to the back. Lorraine, Barbara and Mark were in the cabin and Donna was in the front by the driver.
15676236021_97c8b7a05a_c.jpg

We pulled out and I saw another boat full of tourists. LOL. I liked our ride better as it was just us and not so squished.
15678161405_576edfa819_c.jpg

Now sit right back and you will hear (no see) a tale of a trip. Lots of buildings. LOL.
15492954997_a3241372de_c.jpg

Nice bridge over the water.
15058793953_62ec51c258_c.jpg

Here is their ambulance.
15679744132_36312ed53e_c.jpg

15679742912_42f887d9f0_c.jpg

Then we passed this gate which I am not sure what it was to.
15492765068_a6548fedf4_c.jpg

Some more bridges.
15492266889_80259bc30d_c.jpg

Looks like a nice place to have a meal.
15654428226_ac8c64e5c1_c.jpg

Oh I think the pic above and this one is where we ate. I believe we ate at the tables in the back.
15492943937_c93249d44a_c.jpg

I think I could live here. LOL. Okay I won’t start that again.
15654422036_378919278f_c.jpg

I loved how this building looked.
15676216151_e26fd45ffb_c.jpg

I loved how this little building was just there.
15492937937_16354a3cb0_c.jpg

That water line looks a little high on the wall.
15058197254_c1c936c817_c.jpg

he is watching you. LOL.
15678140225_b601675510_c.jpg

Traffic light? LOL.
15058776603_04c1af499c_c.jpg

This looked pretty to me.
15493341120_63ff1b0f20_c.jpg

Waving to the people up on the bridge.
15676210521_6355545616_c.jpg

Then we came to a place in the canal where it splits. This is looking to the left.
15058190614_8887a83948_c.jpg

Then to the right.
15493336480_2e34ded6d3_c.jpg

Now for more buildings.
15492249039_d77a4c8c40_c.jpg

Con't....

Con't from previous post....

Then we passed a gondola.
15492245569_87314acd87_c.jpg

This is lovely.
15676200271_f0817f270d_c.jpg

Hi Mark. LOL. Crowded bridge up there.
15676199281_e96b7094ec_c.jpg

This building was decorated with art.
15676196541_43560bc600_c.jpg

We saw a bunch of gondolas.
15654401856_370352ae48_c.jpg

15492238519_5989b0862f_c.jpg

Back to the buildings.
15492916357_5da7bac523_c.jpg

Okay just the one building because I am going to stop here. I have to run and do some things.

Up next,

The rest of the boat ride.

Scott, I'm so glad you all decided to do the boat ride. I don't know why people said there is nothing to do in Venice. The canal itself is beautiful with the gondolas, and some beautiful buildings (I really like the one with the art and the one where you want to live again ;)), the bridges, etc. Beautiful pictures and can't wait to see more of your boat ride.

Great review. Loved the photos.
Thank you.

I fully agree.
I do want to live in a lot of places. :rotfl2:
Thanks.

I can't believe someone told you there is nothing to see in Venice. :sad2: Very very wrong!!!

Your boat ride looks nice. We usually use the Vaporetto - the "water bus" and usually score a seat in the front of it. Cheapest sightseeing tour there is. I hope you get to see a lot more of Venice and venture off on foot again - as it is a beautiful city with lots of history! :goodvibes

Okay, and I won't mention that Venice belonged to Austria for some time. ;) :rotfl2:
