Following on from my 1st request about eating at DLP:
In the end we decided to go for HB+ as it suited our plans better. Having lunch at Walt's on the Friday and using them as part payment for Inventions buffet at California Grill Thursday (Inventions is closed next week :()

My question now is for those that have eaten at both Cape Cod and Chuck Wagon - which would you recommend?
Looking to eating at one of them on Wednesday night when we arrive. We are staying at the Cheyenne but hoping to go into the park when we arrive in the afternoon.

Do you recommend that we book a reservation for the Wednesday evening? Or would it be quiet enough to take a risk to turn up when we are hungry?

Anyone know how easy it is to walk to Cape Cod rest from Cheyenne?

Thanks for your help,
Renate

I loved the Chuck Wagon resturant when we went in October 2008. A very nice buffet.

We haven't tried the Cape Cod buffet though I'm afraid, however it is very easy to walk from the Cheyenne to the Newport Bay Club, around 10 minutes walk round Lake Disney, a very pleasent walk.

Mid-week off-peak. Is quiet so you should be able to turn up. I personally wouls still book and not risk it!

The Chuck Wagon is on the half board standard plan, Cape Cod is half board plus.

I've eaten at both, and whilst the Chuck Wagon was fine, the Cape Cod was better - the restaurant is lovely, with huge floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the lake. The food at Cape Cod is really good quality, it was much more of an "experience" than the Cheyenne, if you know what I mean.
At the Cheyenne, there is no waiter service, at the Cape Cod, your are seated by a greeter, then your waiter brings your drinks to you (a soft drink is included in all buffet meals on half board plans).

For kids, they can obviously have what they like from the main buffet at the Cape Cod, but there is also the usual nuggets, pizza etc. Plus there are little freezers with ice lollies in - good ones too - Soleros and the like - for dessert :goodvibes .

As you can tell, I loved the Cape Cod, and I still rave about it :goodvibes

Oh and if you are intending on eating at the Cape Cod - I would definitely reserve a table in advance. The Newport Bay Club is a huge hotel, with many guests, so even in low season, you're better to book in advance at either restaurant there.

I also have not tried the Cape Cod buffet but we were very impressed with the Chuck Wagon buffet, the food was lovely and there was lots of it- pasta, crispy and fluffy jacket potatoes, vegetables, chilli, beef, chicken, etc plus a large selection of desserts. However, I would book, we didn't and we were waiting at least half an hour!

We ate at the Chuck Waggon in October last year and it was the best meal we had during our stay. We didn't book a table but did eat early (around 5.30/6.00pm) and it was very quiet but soon filled up about 6.30pm. The food was lovely - all freshly cooked and lots of it. Definately recommended.

After my recent visit I would difinitely recommend the Cape Cod. It is an outstanding buffet and as someone mentioned earlier great ice lollys.
