What is the chuck-bubba relay for rides?

Someone mentioned that they read the Unofficial tour guide and Chuck-bubba relay was in it for doing the rides faster. I don't know what it is, thats why I am asking.

I paid $18.99 for the UG and have found out what Chuck Bubba Relay is.

The UG is sooooo worth the money.

You can learn quite a bit from such a small investment.

Uh, I don't even know how that would be possible. How would the other parent and the child GET to the front of the line to meet the other parent that is there (at the front of the line) after having waited in line?

There is a BABY-SWAP -but all that means is once you all get to the front of the line (either regular stand-by, or using fastpasses) that if your child either doesn't want to ride (scared/whatever) or is too small to ride- that once you get to the front of the line- one parent can ride while the other is with the child, then you swap the baby and the other parent gets to ride while the parent who already rode stays with the baby.

That's an option given BY Disney World, it's not doing anything sneaky or cutting/etc. They give this option, I assume, so that people with children too small to be able to ride the ride do not have to go stand in line TWICE- so that each parent can ride (or each parent can ride with older children if you have some that can ride). Otherwise you'd have to stand in line twice for both parents to ride, or one parent wouldn't get to ride each ride.

What you're describing doesn't seem possible- I don't see how the other parent with child could possibly meet the other parent in line once they got to the front of the line.

The UG even goes so far as to tell you how many people you need to have in front of you to make it work (won't work for every ride, it lists the ones it will work for). This is mostly for rides like Dumbo, Peter Pan, Flying Carpets - kiddie rides. We've done it a few times and I'm not sure what the "suffering" comment means ...If I'm on the ride with DS and DH is in line, he's already in line in front of you - it's not like we're cutting in line. You'll still be in the same spot you were before. Besides, we don't "suffer" in any line. We take advantage of EMH, parks open late and FP. We always ride every ride we want to (often multiple times without the Chuck Bubba) and never wait in line more than 20 minutes. It's a matter of planning .

ETA: OK the suffering post has been edited and now my post doesn't make complete sense. ITA the Unofficial Guide is worth every penny. I'm not going to list all the info. here, but it does work. One parent will ride with the child(ren) while the other parent waits in line. If he sees he would get on before the child is ready to be passed to him, he just lets other people go in front.

The chuck-bubba allows someone who only waited in line one to ride the ride twice. Regarldess of how you spin it that is unfair to those in line.

Well, the post was edited after I responded. Originally it stated something about one parent and child going off to do other things while one parent stood in line- and stated that then when the parent in line got to the front of the line- the other parent with child would take that child and (I guess "chuck"?) give the child to the parent that was in line. I didn't see how that would be possible- how you'd meet up with the other parent at the front of the line.

I've since been PM'd something entirely different- where they talk about how in some lines you can have one parent get in line with the child, then the other parent get in line further back... so that they are still in line (near the front i imagine) when the other parent & child have rode already- then that parent passes the child over to the parent at the front of the line now- so the child gets to ride it twice. I guess the only difference of standing in line twice is that it doesn't take as long as that- since it's not riding it, getting in line, riding it again. It's one parent IN line for them while the other parent is up ahead riding with the child.

I don't see it as a WHOLE lot different or "unfair" as the baby swap actually. When you do the baby swap if you have only one child too small and the other (one two or more children) are big enough- you can ride with the big kids and so can the other parent! So essentially the older children get to ride TWICE because of the baby swap. (I assume they do this so that the other parent that had been waiting with the small child doesn't have to ride the ride ALONE when it becomes their turn to ride)

Almost makes you want to have a baby with you while there. LOL

I disagree and there's no spin here. Let's use Dumbo for example. If I'm riding with my son, and DH is in line, DH is going to get 1 Dumbo. I get off, I pass DS to DH. They are still going to get 1 Dumbo. They are not going to get 2 and make you wait longer if you're behind them.

The UG is totally worth the money. Agree or disagree with this practice, you can find out about it and other ideas by purchasing and reading the UG. They do tons of research and I feel they should be compensated for that research and not have all of the info posted for free on the Disboards. If you want to check out the info they do display for no cost, go to their website www.touringplans.com and check it out. It is a great site. By the way, they are getting ready to publish a revised copy of the 2005 edition expected later this month.
