Chuck and Lynn Go to Mousefest! New 5/4!

Hey everybody! I'm glad you all got a laugh over our South Carolina snow! It was big news. That's the first snow we've gotten in three years!! (And yes, I really would like to see real snow one day. Who wants to have us over?:rotfl: )

My foot is getting better. The medicine seems to be helping, but we won't know for sure until Monday. The pain meds he gave me for my headache worked....until the next morning and it was back again. So I'm thinking it may still be sinus trouble so Chuck got me a humidifier for our room. It seems all this started when we got a new heat and air system put in. I know it's drying the air out. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for thinking of me.

Hoepfully there will be an update this weekend since I'm off my feet. Of course, that means I'll have to turn off Animal Crossing; City Folk......:sad1:

Lynn,
Come on over to MA and check out our snow!! We had about a foot and then last weekend we got about 8 more inches...we have snow banks taller than my oldest son!!! The bus actually drove by us at the bus stop cause she couldn't see us!! LOL!:rotfl: So, feel free to stop by, if you can find us in all this stinkin' snow!!!!!

Feel better! Hope the humidifier does the trick!!
Hoping for a new update over teh weeeknd....hint, hint! :goodvibes

Awwww... You poor thing! You're a hot mess! But, at least you "have" to stay off your feet. Dr's orders. Darnit... I guess you won't be doing any of this :laundy: this weekend.:rotfl:

I'd love to see your snow! I guess not having it makes us southern excited about it, but I'm sure it gets old quick!

A "hot mess" ? Is that good or bad? :rotfl2: I am feeling better. My headache is gone (I live in fear it will come back.) and my foot is definitely better. Yeah!!

Update coming up!!

Day two Part two

Okay, where did we leave you? Oh yes, It was pouring rain and Chuck was dancing in the street. I will say I thought it was pretty cool that the CMs from the HSM II parade still came out to do autographs, even in the rain. And yes, there were little preteens out there waiting for autographs….in the rain.

We walked over to Star Tours and the wait said 20 minutes, but people were lined up out under the Ewok trees and that is not good. We passed and headed for Muppetvision 3-D. It has some of my favorite lines in all of WDW.

My very favorite:
“You are not Mickey Mouse. You are a rat.
Come on, they’re tourists! What do they know?”

I don’t remember seeing these before.

Great show, especially the salute to all nations but mostly America! I know this show could use an update with all the great new technology, but I still like it.

For you, LL inside the theater.

When the show was over, it took forever to get out, because it was raining even harder and the people just stopped. Alarmed with our trusty big ponchos, we fought through the crowd and out in the downpour. Chuck suggested it was a good time for lunch and we headed for the ABC Comissionary. I really wasn’t hungry (side effect of the drugs), but he insisted I eat. We split a Cuban sandwich (a glorified ham sandwich is more like it) and fries.

We watched it rain and relaxed. But not for along, our fastpass time for TSM was up.

It was sweet to be able to watch the kids with the characters across the way.

Back in the queue….again.

Chuck kicking my butt again.

We picked up more Fastpasses and they were for like 6PM!

The pouring rain chilled me to the bone so I decided to do something I’ve never done before. I decided to buy a sweatshirt……in the park. We do all our shopping at the outlet and I’ve gotten tons from there, but it was my birthday and I was gonna treat myself. Plus we weren’t planning to go back to the room anytime soon and I was cold even with the super cool ponchos.

(BTW, wasn’t it just yesterday I was shopping for shorts? Laugh it up, Mother Nature!!)

We popped into the Keystone Clothiers and checked out the selection. I was torn between a pink sweatshirt with Walt Disney world on it or a red fleece with Minnie Mouse. Which do you think I chose?

That’s right!! The pink! You know me so well.

It was crazy in that store, but there was an awesome CM that waited on me. I picked an extra large and tried it on while I was paying. It was huge on me! The lady told me to get another size but it was already wet from touching me and my stuff and there were three people behind me. I told her no it was okay. (Didn’t want to make people wait.) She insisted, took back the wet one and let me get a smaller size. I also wanted the $10 throw so she arranged to have it sent to our room. I felt so bad about the people behind me and kept apologizing. She said, “You are not allowed to say you are sorry anymore! It’s your birthday!” She made me feel like I was the only person in her store! Thanks, CM!!

Back on the street, it was still pouring and everyone was scrambling for buses. We were too, but not to go back to our room. We need to make our way over to the Contemporary Resort for Mousefest 101 and the Mousefest Kickoff. We went to the Contemporary bus stop, but a Ticket and Transportation bus pulled up at the next stop. We could ride it and then take the monorail to the Contemporary, right?

Yeah, right.

Dontcha just love TSM?? I liked it FAR more than I thought I would. Can't wait to do it again!

What a great CM in Keystone Clothiers! :goodvibes And hurrah for treating yourself for your birthday!! I bet that pink sweatshirt matched your Vera nicely!

:worship: to you and Chuck for braving the rain and heading over to the Contemporary. I was cowering at Pop. :sad2:

Sorry you were stuck in the downpour! Glad the CM was full of Disney Magic.
I can't wait to ride TSM! It's one of the things I'm really looking forward to.

Yay!! An update, Lynn!!!:thumbsup2

And yay for the pink sweatshirt...do we get to see pictures? I love Keystone Clothies, for some reason, the last two trips, I've bought my souvies there....it's a great store!! And what a nice CM you had!!

Love TSM!!! 3 times, woohoo!!!! Maybe the later trip you'll finally beat Chuck??!:confused3

I'm glad you spent money on yourself. You sound like me when I'm souvie shopping. I'll get something for everyone else, and then get myself something like a... magnet!
Ok, how do I describe a hot mess... You know when you're not quite yourself, or you're just looking not like yourself? You know those days. That's a hot mess. Or if someone makes a funny or stupid comment and instead of saying "you're dumb" (or whatever you say) you can say "you're a hot mess". It's usually used to describe something wacky or out of whack. Does any of that make sense? I worked with a guy at Old Navy who said that and it was VERY funny. He would also say, "I love your face". I liked that too.

That's my favorite line from Muppetvision, too!!! Rizzo cracks me up! :rotfl:

What an awesome CM in the store -- do we get a picture of the sweatshirt later on?

Thanks for the great updates guys! I LOVE MuppetVision 3D-----the Muppets are my favorite and that bit with Rizzo as Mickey is hysterical. I have the Muppets season 1 on DVD (was kinda hoping to get seasons 2 & 3 for Christmas, but got Cars on Blu-ray instead -- and that's fine!). If you want a few more Muppet laughs, check out muppets.com.....I wasted a whole perfectly good afternoon last week surfing on that website alone.

In September we got caught in the same dead-stop type crowd in the rain after leaving the Muppet theater, too. Apparently no one had ponchos that day (we were in between 2 hurricanes, Hannah and Ike, you'd have thought rain gear would have been near the top of the list of items to bring......)

Lynn, I'm glad you're feeling better! I almost emailed you yesterday to see if you wanted to visit on Animal Crossing.

What a sweet CM! I want to see your sweatshirt too! You need a LOT of practice, Lynn! I think Chuck has the right idea about a "practice" trip!

I do like TSM. I''m just terrible at it. I'm not good at Video games at all. Except Animal Crossing.

Just wait the rain story gets better.

Sorry you were stuck in the downpour! Glad the CM was full of Disney Magic.

Oh, you'll love it. I was expecting it to be like Buzz Lightyear, be it is so much better and the queue is so bright!

Yay!! An update, Lynn!!!:thumbsup2

I've got to get Chuck to take a picture of that one. I thought I had taken all our souvies, but I missed. I was probably wearing it. :rotfl2:

Beat Chuck at TSM? No likely. He is very competative.

I think that may require alot more practice. Hmm.....I'm thinking a TSM practice trip!

Don't tease me, Chuck!

Thanks for the explanantion!

I do the same thing. I am getting my selfish in my old age, though.;)

I didn't know you were a Muppet Fan. I think I'm a little scared of how much we are alike!

OHHH, Blu-ray! It's on my list!

I just love TSM, it's fabulous. Good for you buying a sweatshirt for yourself. :goodvibes

Thanks! Did you like the light fixture?

What a sweet CM! I want to see your sweatshirt too! You need a LOT of practice, Lynn! I think Chuck has the right idea about a "practice" trip!

You know, Chuck bought me a new car for Jake's birthday and it still needs to be "broken in " with a WDW trip......Hmmmmmm

How sweet of the CM when you bought your sweater, it's for reasons like that why we all keep going back :goodvibes

Just wanted to say hi and I'm anxiously waiting for more!

There are a whole lot more words than pictures in this one. Sorry!

Day Two Part Three

We hopped on the Ticket and Transportaion bus, thinking we could take the monorail from there to the Contemporary for the Mousefest Kickoff. There weren’t many people on the bus and we all compared our levels of soakedness and laughed about our wet morning. I was a little nervous because I’d never taken a bus to the TTC and I wasn’t sure where to go. Luckily the paths were well marked. There is even a gift shop at the TTC. I guess that’s for that last minute souvies you might need. (We didn’t have time to stop.)
We noticed the line for the resort monorail was pretty long and as we waited , we were approached by an official looking Disney guy who told us the resort monorail was stuck in the dock. He said they were bringing over special buses, because it would be sometime until the monorail was removed. We talked about it and opted for the express monorail to MK and then walking to the Contemporary. I mean, at this point, how much more wet could we get?
We made the right decision. Once we were on the express monorail, the very official looking Disney guy came over the speakers to inform everyone what was going on. He encouraged everyone to use the walkway to get to the Polynesian, but that if you needed to go to the GF or the Contemporary, and I quote, “You are pretty much out of luck.” :faint: I was so shocked. I’ve never heard anyone at WDW say anything like that. I mean, he was honest and I appreciate that, but it was still so not the normal Disneyspeak.
As we made our way to MK on the monorail, the driver came over the speaker to tell us all to look out of the right side and we would see something “really cool that you don’t get to see every day.” It was the monorail tow, waiting to get monorail pink unstuck. I didn’t get the camera out fast enough. But I did get some pics on our very wet walk over to the Contemporary. This monorail loving girl was very excited!!:hyper:

DSCF1470.jpg

As we got off the monorail, Mk looked deserted. I asked Chuck if he was sure he wanted to go to the kickoff and he was.

We found our way to the Contemporary and over to the Nutcracker Ball room. I am sorry there aren’t more pictures. I thought I had taken some, since this is a place not many people see, but I guess not. Anyway, we had missed Mousefest 101, but were in time for the big Mousefest Kickoff. Here is how our guide described it:

“Registered Mousefest attendees are invited to a special meet to kick-off the Mousefest activities. Drop by to say hello, meet Mousefest community leaders, and mingle with your fellow Mousefest attendees. Includes complimentary light refreshments!”

Oh yeah! We are all about the light refreshments. Basically it was a meet and greet so everyone could see who was there and compare their plans for the next few days.

DSCF1475.jpg

DSCF1477.jpg

Most of the crowd was out at the refreshment tables!

Now every year at Mousefest 101, someone (usually Mike Scopa) gets up and gives a speech about pacing yourself, getting rest, that you can’t do it all and not to follow the old saying, “No one sleeps at Mousefest!” So guess what’s on the refreshment tables……Full Throttle energy drinks! High energy trail mix! Chocolate covered expresso beans and tons of candy bars!! Oh, you know we loaded up!

DSCF1472.jpg

Oh, there was fruit also.

We saw Heather/Circusgirl and Mike from the Be our Guest Podcast. (He’s great. You should listen.) We stood for awhile and tried to scan the crowd for Christine/2xcited2sleep, but since I had no idea what she looked like, it was more like, “hmmm do you think that’s her,” and “No, I pictured her with darker hair.” All the big wigs were there, Mike Scopa, Lou Mongello, Matt Hotchenberg. There were also so very stern looking Disney suits watching us crazy types to make sure we didn’t riot or anything. We didn’t stay long because I was getting tired (a major theme that weekend) and we knew we would see them all again. I wasn’t looking forward to the long, wet walk back to MK for a bus. I was rewarded, though. We got to see the monorail tow, towing the monorail. Here it is!!

And here it is again.

Please forgive the terrible quality. All we had was my camera and Chuck trying to chase it down.

As we neared MK, we struck up a conversation with a couple as we walked. They, too were at Mousefest and live right up the road from us in Rock Hill.

Here is how you know you are talking to Disney minded people. When you say, we just saw the monorail tow towing a monorail and they say no way, where? instead of looking at you blankly. They were our kind of people. They were at another resort, so we split up at the bus stop. I didn’t even get their names.

It wasn’t a long wait for a bus. We all wetly loaded on and would you believe, we actually left a family standing there. The mom refused to get on because they were going to have to stand. All I could think was, “You poor lady. What a long and sad trip you will have if you don’t learn to stand on the bus!”

Chuck and I decided to count the bus stops again to see if we were indeed the seventh stop. This is when we learned that coming from MK, the bus goes differently and we are only the fourth stop. Hmmmmm…. That is interesting. Wonder what other ones are different?

Back at the room, Chuck added minutes to the kids phone (we were getting a lot of calls from Em in Myrtle beach) and I napped. Again. During the day. What a strange trip.
