Have you tried lately? I got a Costco tree and it has way too many lights for me! I turn the lights off to bask in the romantic glow of the tree lights - but I can't tell the lights are off! IMO, when you can read by it from across the room - it's too bright!

I don't know if there is such a thing as too many lights. :)

The tree I bought has 1300 lights on it - far more than I put on our old tree, which is why I'm excited about it. I wanted lots of lights - and they had to be the multicolored ones. Do you have white lights? That might be why it seems to bright to you.

4 fake ones for us.

2 large ones

1 small one in each of my DD's room

DH was raised with fake christmas trees, while I was raised with real treeS. Growing up we always had two trees in our house. Family room has a Fraizer Fur with all the orniments that were made by or purchased for us kids. This was the tree that all the gifts were under. The living room has a Blue Spruice that is mom's tree. All white lights and lace woven through the branches, with the branch tips sprayed with the canned snow. All the orniments are sea foam green, light blue, and crystal. Loved the smell of our house at christmas time with both trees.

Now for DH and I, our first christmas as a married couple, we had only been married for 4 days, no home of our own yet (DH was in the Army, set to go to his 1st duty station), so no tree for us. 2nd christmas, we got our quarters a week before christmas, so we had moving boxes stacked in the form of a tree for that year. Our 3rd christmas, DH was in Panama and I was in AL, so no tree, again. Our 4th christmas, both of us were in Panama and the price they wanted for a real was out of this world, so no real tree for us. We got a fake tree. The "needles" fell off of it as bad as a real tree can loose it's needles. Our 5th christmas, we were back home, looking for a place of our own, so we had our parents trees. Our 6th christmas, thought we would finally be able to get the real tree I had been dying for, but the apartment complex we lived in changed is regs on christmas trees, no real trees any more, so we had to get a different fake tree and I have had to live with that since and we are going on our 15th christmas. I HATE fake trees. I want a real tree!!!!!

I prefer real trees, but I only have one fake, it's easier for the moment...

Fake. We travel every other year at Christmas. The kids still like to decorate the house even when we're not going to be there. Fake works when you're not home to water it for a week.

Not only do we have a FAKE tree, it's white with colored lights--think Big Rock Candy Mountain :rotfl: All the neighborhood kids love it and wish they had one.

We leave out tree up for about 6wks so the only way I'd feel safe about it is to go fake. Besides the fact that DH starts wheezing when he gets around the real thing :rolleyes1 don't need that at Christmas

Well we don't call it "fake" but gotta be artifical for 2 reasons: both daughter and I are are allergic and can't deal with the smell nor put up the decos (everyone has bunches of their own)
AND we put it up the 1st Sunday of advent (around the end of November) and leave it up till Ephinay (January 6th)
A real one would be so dead by that time perdiod that it would look awful!

Artificial here. I've thought about getting a live tree but I don't have the room for the height I'd want; we have 10' ceilings throughout the house so I prefer 9' trees but live 9' trees are very wide. I have a 9' artificial tree now that is more of a "space saver" tree in that the base of the tree is not much wider than the top. I'd be hard-pressed to find a live tree every year that is skinny enough for what little space I have for it!
