Christmas tree in room

I am looking for those who have had Christmas trees in their room how they went about doing it. Has anyone used Disney Florist for trees? Basically, any help with making our room a bit more festive for Christmas morning.

I wish I could post a picture like Janet but our eldest ordered a tree from the Disney Florist last year which was delivered to our rooms at the GF shortly after we checked in on 12/24. It is beautiful. It has fibre electric lights or whatever they're called and tons of beautiful ornaments. I can hardly wait to put it up this Christmas season at home. Our son was 22 at the time and it was a surprise we will never forget.

Fibreoptics is the term I wanted I think!

While we haven't had the pleasure of doing a Christmas tree in the room, yet, we do have plans in place already for our trip. We won't be there for Christmas, but we will be there the week before at Pop Century.

We picked up the Toy Story Christmas tree from TDS when it was on 75% off. We will take it and a couple of strings of lights to spruce it up a bit and to put up in the window. I think it should look rather festive. Mickey

We had the Disney Florist deliver an arrangement and we brought along a small tree for us to decorate/

Janet I would be happy to post a picture although mine are never the best quality...if only I knew how to use the scanner!

Don't be silly - you're not dumb!

I would go by what you do at home. Do you have a tree up at home by the first week of Dec.? Ours usually goes up Thanksgiving weekend and YES we do take a tree with us to WDW for our room. The 1st time we went @ Christmas time we really missed not having one. We always go mid-Dec. and we have one about 3' tall that scrunches up very well and fits in a slender box. My DD and I would like to take the DIS princess tree, but my DS wouldn't agree with that. We just take lights, no ornaments. Each of us will pick out an ornament @ WDW to put on the tree.

Does anyone put lights up on their balcony? My DH said he saw some @ the Boardwalk, but I wasn't sure if that's OK.

momof2OH , we plan on decorating the first week of December! We are going at that time to enjoy all the Christmas festivities, and part of that for me is decorating the room. We have a small tree, some lights, and some red bows we will be taking with us. If you feel like decorating, why not? It will just add to the ambiance of the parks all decorated, and the resorts are decorated by that time as well, so you'll fit right in!

One small caution as a side note...

I assume everyone here is talking about artificial trees. But just in case anyone's thinking about driving down a small evergreen tree there's two things to consider:

1) I know that Florida, in order to protect the citrus industry, has very strict restrictions against bringing unprocessed agricultiral products and live plants into the state. "Live" trees that haven't been inspected may also run afoul of of these laws. Also, many areas of the US have similar prohibitions. Right now in Michigan there are restrictions against moving wood and trees from several different counties due to problems with an ash borer incest.

2) Many municipalities have fire code restrictions against placing lights in real trees inside buildings that house large numbers of people. For example, we can't have a real tree in the lobby of our office, for example.

So make it easier on yourself, and stick with the artificial trees.

Oh yes, the tree and decorations are up it seems before the turkeys cold. LOL

Defintely put it up the 1st week of December - I would have my tree up all year if my husband would let me.


Tip#1 - take the ornaments in your carry-on or wrap them REALLY well or only take plush or felt ones. Mine all got broken on the flight back - someone must have been doing the hula on my suitcase to have damaged them like that - they were even all individually boxed and wrapped.

Tip#2 - You are not allowed to bring in a real tree (not at the BWV anway - I would assume it would be the same at every resot) due to fire-by-laws

I think the small tree is $200...or something like that. I bought a small artificial tree and sent it down and back UPS, with unbreakable ornaments and bows and lights....wrapped in bubble wrap. Everything worked great....see the pic on pg. 1. I also shipped gifts beforehand and stockings that we hung and filled on Christmas eve.

It was kind of a last minute thing and I didn't put much effort into it.

Gosh, I love looking at everyone's holiday photos -- thanks for posting them.

I’m not sure how Disney really feels about their guests decorating their resort balconies, so if anyone is hesitant about doing so, please speak with your Resort Manager about what you would like to do. I’d hate to see someone decorate their balcony, only to be asked to remove those decorations due to safety/fire issues (I can imagine that decorating a balcony at the AKL is a definite no-no due to the animals that live on the savannahs).

If you’re staying at the BWV and you have a boardwalk view, your balcony may already be decorated for you by Disney. Here are two pictures of what I found on my BWV balcony:
