We just got back and were planning to go in October but have now found out that we can't so we have changed our plans to 12-27 to 1-4.

We have gone in the summer, spring and fall but never around Christmas and New Years so I have no idea what to expect.

Can anyone tell me what to start exploring for our WDW trip with DW, DS14, DS12, DS9, and finally DD 7.

What are the crowds like?

What are the "extra" things going on due to the holidays?

When should I start planning the PS's and other events?

What is the weather like?

The DIS and all of you are so great that I am sure you will give me good advice!!

Thanks!!

What are the crowds like?

Let's just say, you are going during the busiest week of the year, it'll be VERY crowded! But also very fun :) WDW will be very crowded between Dec. 27 thru New Years Eve, maybe even January 1st. The crowds might die down the last 3 days of your trip. This is just what I've heard from people's trip reports, I haven't been during NYE, but I have been during Christmas week.

When should I start planning the PS's and other events?

ASAP! Especially if you want a restaurant type meal on NYE. I've heard of the restaurants getting so busy on holidays, that people who walk up without a PS get turned away. Doesn't mean it happens all the time, but PS's bring some comfort in knowing you have a reserved spot.

What are the "extra" things going on due to the holidays?

Christmas decorations will still be up, it makes for some nice sight seeing. Especially going to all the resorts to see what's in the lobbies. There is also the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights in MGM Studios. This event and the Christmas decorations stayed around until Jan. 6th of this year, so you might be able to expect roughly the same for next year. (Jan 2003)

Hope this helps!

Don't know about prior to January 1.... but DW and I were at WDW 1/1/02-1/4/02 and the crowds seemed to get lighter each day. Also, DW easily made PS ressies for breakfast at Cinderella's Castle and Hoop-de-doo Review. Good Luck!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Crowds will be huge, that said you are going in my opinion at the most magical time of the year.Have a good plan in place and be sure to use early entry. The decorations and holiday shows are so great.Make your PS arrangements now and be flexible,I mean eating early or late lunch and dinner.HDDR has great holiday show make PS to see it for a great evening at FW.Then go on hayride for a ending to a special evening.Don't miss the Christmas version of the Country Bear Show at MK.I could go on for page after page but I will allow others to give you advice and opinions.:earsboy: :sunny: :earsgirl:

It sounds like I need to plan pretty eraly. We will use EMH and won't get too worked up if we can't do everything.

I am curious about the shows/parades? What are the can;t miss ones?
