CHRISTMAS TIME WITH THE FAMILY AT DISNEY WORLD
This is my third trip report. My DH Ron and I went every year to DW since 1982. I found the DIS and just a few years ago I decided to give writing a TR a try. I hope you will enjoy reading.
This will be my first trip to DW without my darling Ron. He passed away on June 16th and I miss him terribly. This year I will be going with my DS Chuck and DIL Karen and DGS Jesse who will be 2 in November.
July 23, 2009 I got my plane reservations this morning. I also got my Tiffany towncar reservations and my local shuttle service to get me to my airport and back home again. Last night the kids got our hotel reservations at All Star Movies preferred rooms and free dining. I was very happy.
Then the phone rang this afternoon from the fraud dept at Chase. EEKKKK! There was a fraudulent charge which they declined and while I was checking that one out, there was another attempt for $250 for some charity. They immediately shut down my account. The man was very nice and helpful and said they would investigate and I didnt have to do anything more. They will be sending me something for me to sign. But even though I knew everything was fine, I broke down in tears. I know its because I lost my DH. Everything seems to make me cry. This trip will be good for me. I will be able to see my DGS in his first trip to DW. That will bring smiles for sure.
September 1 I ordered my rewards card. I wanted to get it so I can use whatever points I have on it towards my hotel room. Then when I get there I can start charging and getting more points for the next time we go.
September 6 I spent the day with the kids and we got our dining reservations sorted out. Some nights I will watch Jesse while Chuck and Karen have a date night. The rest of the time we will all be together except for a couple of nights when we will get a baby sitter for Jesse so we can all go out together. I am getting very excited. Only 97 days to go. Its getting closer.
September 21 Well, the plans are all made. December 11 is our arrival day. We will go to DTD for a few hours and then have our dinner at Kona at 6:30. December 12 is MK day with breakfast at CP and well stay for SpectroMagic and maybe have lunch at CHH. The 13th is Epcot day and well see the CP and have dinner at Marrakesh. The 14th is MGM day. Yes I know its DHS now, but I still call it MGM. Well have lunch at PTC and stay to see Fantasmic. The 15th is AK day with lunch at Pizzafari and Boma for dinner. Im looking forward to that. The 16th is a split day. MK in the morning and breakfast at CM and then Karen and I will have the Grand Tea at the GF. Well spend the evening at Epcot. The 17th is AK in the morning and I will be babysitting Jesse for the evening so the kids can have a date night. The 18th is MK in the morning and Karen will take care of Jesse in the evening so Chuck and I can have a mother/son dinner at Tutto Italia. I looked at the menu and I already know what Im going to order! The 19th is MK and Kona for breakfast. Karen is getting the Tonga toast and Im getting those Macadamia nut pancakes. Then well do halvies. MGM at night. Our last day is the 20th. MK in the morning and Ill take care of Jesse in the evening so the kids can have dinner at Mexico for Chucks birthday. Ill be up bright and early on the 21st to catch my plane home. I have to be at the airport by 6:30am so I am going to ask for a 5am wake up call. I may grab a bite to go and leave my scooter to be picked up. Then wait for Tiffany to pick me up. I cant wait to see how Jesse reacts to everything. Only 80 days to go.
October 13, 2009 Our trip is now paid in full and my scooter has been rented for the stay. Chuck and Karen booked a new Segway tour of Epcot and backstage Epcot. They will get a Disney babysitter for Jesse for that morning and I will have a free morning at MK. They wanted to know if I wanted them to get the babysitter for the two nights that we had planned. I said I could probably use the rest for an early night. I will love putting Jesse to bed. I am getting so excited now. Only 58 more days to go.
November 22, 2009 Its almost Thanksgiving. Time is getting close. I know my Ron will be with me the whole time. He would love to see the World through Jesses eyes. Only 18 more days to go.
December 11, 2009 Well, here it is. The day has finally arrived. I didnt sleep too well last night, but I did get a few hours of good sleep. My driver came around 8:10am and we were at the airport in half an hour. Then you wait. And wait. When they say boarding at a certain time, that doesnt mean a thing. Thats the time they deplane others. Finally we boarded and I was in the next to last row. Thats what I wanted and I got a window seat. That way there is no one kicking your seat or sneezing on your neck the whole way. Next to me was a little boy 2 ½ and his mom. He was very good, but at the end he was fussy. He was so tired. When it was my turn to get out a nice gentleman got my cane and two bags down and said, Merry Christmas! I thanked him and got off the plane. I made a mad dash for the rest room and changed into shorts. My Tiffany car was waiting for me. Poor Steve was waiting a long time since I was the last to deplane. One half hour later I checked into the All Star Movies and got my scooter. I told the woman at the desk I would need someone to lead me to my room, since I get lost in a closet. She came right away and was very nice. She opened the door for me and the scooter just fit in the room. I didnt know where the kids were, so I had to make a long distance call to get Chucks cell. He said hed pick me up and then someone was knocking on my door. I told him to hang on and opened the door to find Chuck! We didnt get connecting rooms like we had requested and my king sized bed turned in two twin beds. I hope I dont fall off. Karen told me when they checked in, they had put her and Chuck in a different building than me! She told them that was not acceptable. I was handicapped and they needed to be close to help me. They finally found a king size bed room a few doors down from me which was fine.
We all piled in the car and took off for DTD. We each bought stuff. Jesse was so happy to see me. Chuck and I each picked out two Vinylmation boxes. You never know which color you are going to get. We chose the clear series. I got a red one and an aqua one. Chuck got orange and yellow I think.
We had dinner reservations at Kona for 6:20 and got there in plenty of time to look around. We had a wonderful dinner at Kona. Chuck had shrimp, Karen had the coconut almond chicken, Jesse had ravioli which he devoured and I had the strip steak. I substituted mashed potatoes for the sticky rice. We demolished the bread and macadamia nut butter. We had dessert too. White chocolate cheesecake for me, Kilauea tort for Chuck and Karen had the sugar free apple stacker. They were all delicious.
We were all beyond tired so we went right to our rooms. I unpacked a bit and had a nice bubble bath. Where do they get these tubs?? I felt like I was in a tight coffin when I laid down. EEEKK But it does the job. There was plenty of hot water, so I was happy.
