Just did both the dinner and breakfast.
Did the dinner Saturday night. I was sat right around our reservation time. Did get sat on one of the two tables right by the POS station on the right hand side which my husband wasn’t really keen on.
I’ve done Storytellers a good handful of times with the new seasonal characters meals they have been doing. I know to expect at least 1hr30 to meet all the characters if not longer.
It was weird when we walked in Goofy seemed to be doing a meet at the entrance with a line and character attendant, not sure what was going on there. I saw one person come in from outside the restaurant, go past the host stand to get a photo of him, not sure if she actually met him.
Clarabella and Goofy came to our section first and walked right pass our a little two table area, the character attendant stating Goofy would be right over. However both Goofy and Clarabella did the whole section and didn’t come over to us.
We meet Scrooge first, who was very interactive. Next Goofy came back over, making a point to stop at our little section. Next Mickey was walking by and I don’t think he was planning on actually stopping but my husband caught his attention, it was a rushed meet. Then Minnie, who had to past by us as we were still with Mickey but she met the next table and thankfully came back to us!
We then waited about 30 minutes for our last character, Clarabella. Thought we had a really good interaction with her. Minnie even came round again.
Our server asked if we had met everyone at this point, as my photo with Mickey had come out terribly blurry, we asked for him and over he came in about 5-10mins with a character attendant and we got a much better photo.
We had a 630 reservation, and left at 8:10pm.
The price is expensive almost as much as an off peak park admission. They even added another $10 a person too, on this dinner compared to the Autumn Adventures dinner we did in July.
The food was pretty mediocre, my husband said most items were bland. The braised beef was nice. Pork belly was basically all fat. Never restocked the crackers for the charcuterie section. The Prime rib is waay too rare and fatty for me, basically blue and I order my steaks, rare or medium rare.
I was surprised to notice a few tables, who didn’t seem to care for the character interactions and took no photos or anything. I’m curious if they are walk ins or booked 90 days in advance!
For the food, breakfast today (Sunday) was much better. The entrance area was a lot busier today as was the valet. We got seated around 10mins after our res time at 10am. Had a much nicer table in the centre of the restaurant, never sat in the buffet room before but our photos came out waay better.
They had tri tip roast, which was soo much better than the prime rib. Rare but no fat. The chilaquiles were great. They had chicken and waffles but I used Mickey waffles instead, was good. Bacon, sausage all good. The salsa was nice and spicy. They switched over to brunch after 10:30 and the salads came out, and Mac and cheese, French fries, salmon, drumsticks etc… They had little bacon wrapped brisket bites which were very nice. Preferred the evening salads over the brunch salads. Both bread puddings were good, the evening one just said Bread Pudding and morning was Egg Nog. Morning had Horchata whereas dinner had a pog looking drink, no label.
We met everyone in about an hour apart from Donald for breakfast. Who came to our section and we were next but then the little dance party started so we missed him. Our server asked if we had met everyone, I think he got Donald for us. Again we were there for an hour thirty. Had nice interactions with all the characters.
I found it odd as well for both meals, our servers took a break and other servers filled in - must be a CA law thing.
I enjoyed both meals. You just have to go in with the expectation to be there for 1hr30-2hrs if you want to meet all the characters. And the food can be so-so.
I don’t know why they seem to struggle with the rhythm and rotation of the character meets. WDW has it down to a T. They have you in and out in an hour at most of their character dinings. They need to take some tips from them. We recently did Hollywood and Vine at Hollywood Studios in November and met everyone even multiple times, no problems.
