Christmas Shopping 2008

I'm almost done!!! Only a few more things for my two kids and the rest of family is easy- hooray for gift cards!:cool1: I've even grabbed a few stocking stuffers. We drive from MD to FL so I even have everything for their "Surprise Car Trip Bags" too!

Boy this feels good! :cool1:

Isn't that a wonderful feeling!!?? Hey, aren't you a snowbird? Aren't we on the Jan thread together?

My husband and I just picked up our first Xmas gift. We usually get pressing by Halloween.
We got our daughter the Fur Real Biscuit dog that has just come out. She got Butterscotch the horse last Xmas and really wanted Smores this year. But, two horses were not happening.;)
We are getting our lists ready now. I am jealous of all of you that are done or near done already!

My in-laws live in Florida and we will be there for Christmas (after a detour to Disney!) They were up here visiting and I bought and wrapped a bunch of Christmas presents and sent them down to Florida with them. Now I won't have to bring as much down in December.

DS 7 got Guitar Hero for DS and Sonic Basketball for DS.

DD 5 got a Just Like Me American Girl doll with matching pj's for her and the doll, plus the Build a Bear Workshop DS game.

I still have more shopping to do, but at least I have some of it out of the way!

Alrighty people!!! We are down to 2 months and 3 weeks until the last shopping day!!:santa: Keep that shopping momentum going!! The goal around here is Oct 1. Or Oct 31 if we are waiting on something special. I have one more thing to purchase and I am through with my kids' stuff.

Adults!! Aren't they the hardest!!! Well, have any of you purchased from Harry & Davids? I am considering this for the Grandparents. I think it will work out- they get the gift on time, because I don't know when we'll be going to see them. And,, it's food!!!!

My little nephew is going to get a big Buzz Lightyear--so, I am gonna have to order that from the Disney store today or tomorrow. Is anybody shopping? Lets get the update!!!

Way to go Susan!! Okay girls--we are almost at the 3 month mark--so get busy shopping!!!! I find if I make a list and stick to it, I can kinda curb that impulse shopping because I know I have what everybody wants/needs and no last minute running around.

Keep it up!!!

Wew, all I have left is my aunt. That is unless youngest DD comes up with any more ideas. She always comes up with a new cd or something small like that.

I'm just abt done with my DD5 and DS8. I like to get them done first.

DD5 - Hasn't really asked for anything except a Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday costume. I need to order that! But I also found a set of Mary Poppins Barbies (Mary, the kids and Burt). Those will be a surprise. ALso picked up some littler things here and there (Lil Luvables accessories, Disney Fairies dolls, Polly Pockets, books, crafts)

DD8 - So far he's getting the Millenium Falcon, DS games (I'm counting on the grandparents for the actual DS), Force Unleashed Wii game, some Star Wars action figures.

We're off to WDW in abt a week so I am thinking I will get my husband a couple cool Disney beer steins at F&W Fest since we're having a bar built in our basement. I don't have a clue what else I will get him! There are no electronic gadgets that he wants this year,so maybe if I keep reading this thread I will get some ideas.

I have 2 sisters that I buy for, many nieces and nephews. My husband still exchanges with his entire family (mom, dad, 2 sisters, 2 brothers in law, 4 kids). They are all hard to buy for and I find it very difficult, so I need a lot of ideas there too.

I am glad to have found you all :goodvibes

I am just about done with DD4, pretty much bought out the Disney Store when they were closing. The bad thing is she is the easiest to shop for so i keep seeing more stuff for her LOL

My DS2, pick up things when i see them on clearance including tonka trucks and the BBQ bubble blower.

My DSS12, got the Pokemon DS special edition, wants Pinata something -need to get, and got guitar hero for his DS. Won't be too much more because we are headed to Disney 12/10-12/15 and he will have about $150. on a giftcard to spend with the understanding that it is part of his christmas presents. plus it is his moms year to have him wake up there, so opening his presents seperate from his sis and bro will be easier..

We already have for my sil, mil, and some of the nieces and newphews.

But a great present for the grandparents out there is a calendar with the kids pictures. I started doing it for my mil about 4 years ago and there is no way i could stop now. I make sure the sils get me pictures and/or take as many as i can when we visit so i have picture of all the cousins and i try to co-ordinate the birthday months with pictures of those kids. it works out great and my mil raves every year. after the 1st year i did it, she told me she had hoped i would do it again so i continue it every year. and this because she spends a week at the beach with my family, i found a deal to have a free photo book made and i sent her one of the beach memories and she absolutely loved it!!

so thats where i am at. i don't have a gift for my DH yet but i think i will break down and have one of my elves buy him the NBC leather jacket when we are Disney and give it to him. he wanted when we were there in January so hopefully it will still be there, and for our anniversary Jan 3, i bouth NBC rings that are engraved with Sally's "Simply meant to be" and i plan to give them to him during our trip in December, since this past January he took me to Disney for our annivesary...

Well, for people who are difficult (adults) maybe a gift card to a good resteraunt. For the kids, maybe a stuffed something from Disney!! I am also a big book buyer---there are soo many good kids books out there!!!

I am glad to have found you all :goodvibes

Glad you found us too!!!! You are getting it done!! Way to go!!!

Love the jacket and rings idea!!! It took me a while to figure out what NBC was. I didn't get it till I saw Sally's name!!! Very cute!!!!

Hi Everyone!

It just dawned on me that I have like 6-7 more weeks to get all my shopping done before we go to WDW! That means it all needs to be bought, wrapped and some shipped!! So, I've done some shopping for my DS's over the Summer (since DW is our big gift this year! and they get to pick out a nice souvie from us there) but have to get all my Santa shopping done now.:santa:

I went to Target and Kohls' this week and got some things....cheap, too! My oldest is into Tball so we got him a automatic pitcher for Springtime, the baby loves those fridge farms/that sort so Kohls' was having a buy one get one 1/2 off sale so I got him a couple of Leap Frog toys. Slowly but surely......

Good luck to everyone! A little at a time goes a long way for your wallet!!!:goodvibes

I need ideas for my DS 9 1/2!
He is at that age where he isn't into toys so it can get even more expensive easily.
My 2 yr. old twins will be easy..thank goodness.

I know they are typically referred to as toys, but what about Legos? My little boy is 9 and he has been into them since he was about 8. He loves them. But, he likes toys still too!! Anything to play with his big Buzz or Woody!!

Does your son have a Nintendo DS? They have some really cool games-my son is getting one for Christmas. But my older son got one last year and they love it!!

Does he like to read? They have some really cool series' out there for kids now.Let us know and we'll try to help you out!!!:santa:

I bought DS(7) his "Big" gift last night. He wanted the lego city coast guard boat and tower. Toys R Us had them on sale - 20% off and I had a $10 off coupon so I got it for $44 instead of $60. I was happy with that price. This weekend I am buying DD the Leapster Tag system, carrying case, and head phones. Her big gift will be bought. I am getting closer to being done for the kids. I only have to buy other DS his big gift - Lego Castle, and they are each getting a new bike.

Then I have to start on dd and ds birthday. One is on Dec. 24th other is Dec. 30th.

Here's my update!!! I'm just about done!!!!:santa:

Since we are going to WDW in January I tried to keep everything in a Disney theme! I also tried to keep it with lots of little things since "Santa" is going to bring us money for Disney World. (Literally, I am putting Disney Dollars in the stockings from Santa! I got my son a Cars wallet and my daughter a little Pooh change purse to put them in!)

Here's what I have stashed away! My kids are 41/2 (Toy Story fan!) and 19 months (Pooh and Minnie Mouse fan!)....

  • Disney personalized duffel bags- on sale at disney.com:banana: His has Buzz Lightyear and her's has Minnie on it. These will be their suitcases for the trip.
  • Mini Toy Story Etch a Sketches- should be good a few minutes of peace during the 2 day car ride!:rolleyes1
  • Christmas Eve Pajamas- our family tradition! His are Buzz and hers are Minnie.
  • Disney coloring books, stickers, markers and crayons- same idea as the etch a sketches- peaceful car ride!:scared:
  • Disney Tshirts- $5 at the Disney outlets!!!!
  • Cool Straw Cups from the Disney store- his is Buzz and hers is Pooh.
  • Disney character sets: Toy Story for him and Mickey Mouse Club House for her (They are little play figurines and come with all the characters- too cute and of course on sale at Disney Outlets!)

Only 3 things left on my shopping list...

A new Buzz Lightyear doll for my son since his broke.:sad1:

And, not Disney related but I want to get my daughter a Cabbage Patch Kid. Perhaps I can get a Disney outfit for it to wear to keep in the theme!

I'm thinking of getting my son a kid's camera for the trip because he loves taking pics but they are pricey so I'm hoping for a Christmas sale before I buy one. I found a little toy Princesses camera for my daughter so she can feel like she's taking pictures too. I wish his would cost less than $5 like hers did!

I'm thinking of getting my son the Tag system for his birthday- thankfully his birthday isn't until April! Must be tough having babies with Christmas birthdays! We have a BJ's around here and they had the whole set for $50 something. Not sure if you have a BJ's around you but thought I would mention it.

Hey--good job ladies! I ordered my son his ipod nano-so except for Santa I am finished!! Dh wants to do the Wii--but I am really not into that--they already have game boys, nintendos and a play station. So, I am looking to the big Santa gift being a disney tv/dvd player for their rooms!!! Pretty cool, huh!!?

Well, I still need to do the adults--I am behind on that, but my kids can go with me to buy that stuff, so I am not so rushed. But, I do need to decide who's getting what. I saw something today I want---the new Porcelain Tink!! She's beautiful!!

I looked up the Porcelain Tink and she is a beauty...however, I noticed the age recommendation was 8-12 years!:rotfl: Funny how Disney makes us all kids at heart! :tinker:

My 11YO is very excited about this new book series called 'The 39 Clues'. It incorporates books (there will be 13), trading cards & a web-site. Each book will be written by a different YA author.
Other than that, its video games, video games & video games. Legos too are a big hit. He & his sister are also at the age where we've started giving them experiences as opposed to gifts. So they're getting to go to HS Musical on Tour & Tarzan as part of their Christmas & we're taking them to Wicked & Mary Poppins for their birthdays. So, if there's something you know he'd love (ballgame, museum trip, etc) it might be a good choice for part of his Christmas.

How did I not know about this post?:lmao:

I actually started my Christmas 'scoping' today.

-DH and I are giving eachother Disney World, so we won't really be exchanging gifts.

-I'm buying Belle her first American Girl- the asian Bitty Baby, the Fisher Price sit and spin pony and the Rost Cottage playhouse. So far.....;)

-I'm buying my 3 tween neices outfits from the Limited Too.

Other than that.... I'm clueless!:confused3
