Christmas Shopping '09

I watched QVC's Christmas In July for American Girl but decided to wait until another year for my DD. She has the bitty doll and I think I might get her the matching outfits for this year. Usually they have PJ's too.
Did anyone see the 3 Princess Pillows Storybooks? They were really cute so I got them since we are redoing her "big girl room" in princesses.

I watched QVC all weekend long. Those pillows were cute. My DD also saw that Spongebob moonchair and flipped for it, so I might get her that too.

We have four kids from 9 to 1 month and from the first c-mas my hubby and I decided to do c-mas this way..they get 3 gifts from us and 3 from 'santa'.. They represent frankenscense, gold, and mur..frankenscense represents something for their talents/religious; Gold is something fun; and Mur is something to wear--ie..a new jacket...this has been great with having to tighten the belts with the economy etc..We have never had to go out and buy bigger and better which has been so nice.and we concentrate more on the spirit of giving, and reason for it. This has worked out for us.

I am almost done with the shopping, and will be done by Thanksgiving. Which is so nice....I won't have to fight the crowds:)

I usually like to keep it to 3 from me and Daddy as well! Then they get one more from the other 2 siblings! I am just waiting a bit longer to start...want to make sure my kiddos keep to the same wish list!! My poor little guy who loves Legos...he gets sooooo amped up when he sees Legos in the store!! Ha!!! His little list just keeps going, and going, and going!! I try to buy the most expensive one he wants, then nana gets a smaller one...she's not financially able with 4 GKids to buy all expensive stuff. Of course, one grandfather gives them $$, so he saves every cent!!! He still has money from last Christmas I think!!!
We do not buy just because some one else has something. My kids have always picked what they wanted on their wish list because they like it, not because someone else has it. I am so glad about that....makes is soo much easier!!!

Hi, can I join you? The kids have just started talking about wish lists - mainly because we visited a lot of friends back home and they saw new stuff! lol

I second the recommendations for the Leapster & Disney castle! DS7 still plays with Leapster & it was great on our recent flights. DD9 got her castle at age 5 & she still pulls it out to play with sometimes. It's very cute though I wish the people had moveable parts. Tip - get a little container to keep all those tiny parts together.

We are on a tight budget this year so I'm starting to keep my eyes out for good prices. Looking forward to seeing Black Friday previews to know if they will go down then. We don't care about the latest editions so hopefully the older styles will go on bigger sales.

DD9 - wants a camera or ipod. Since she has a March bday, will get the camera then. Plan to get her the ipod shuffle & some accessories, books, pjs & another webkinz unless she gets out of them by then. Then family can get ideas like itunes cards, charger, etc.

DS7 - he wants an ipod or DS. I think he would use the DS more so on the lookout for good sales or coupon codes for that. PJs, books, maybe a new wii game and he's good to go. Again, easy for family to build around that so win for everyone.

DD15 - not sure but I think she'd like an i-touch. Books, pjs, makeup, Starbucks gc.

It'll be an electronic holiday but easiest since I've already told them that if they pick bigger items, they'll get less and I think they are at the ages to be ok with that.

It's still easy to get them a few really small things to unwrap that are pretty cheap. They love to get mail so I'm thinking about a magazine subscription for each & think I can find those cheap. Wrap an issue so they can open something. Sometimes we will wrap tiny gifts in huge boxes to just add the wow factor under the tree.

- does anyone know good rewards site to earn points for Barnes & Noble gc? We usually give those to the kids' teachers as holiday gift & would love to earn some if possible.

For DS7, I am finally getting him a Wii. I can't decide what games to purchase. I am thinking of Wii Resorts, but that might be redundant because it already comes loaded with Wii Sports.

Havent read thru all the threads yet but I wanted to let you know that resorts is very different than sports since its in "real" time with the add on part that comes with it and they have a cute pack that you can buy for it with googles and stuff

Yeah a Christmas thread I am so excited. This year will be short on toys. My DD has alot of toys already so I am doing up her room going from a toddler style to a little girl (wahh growing up) Love the leapster2 idead didnt even know about that so I will have to get her that and Fancy Nancy looks so cute so I think I might get her one of her books to see if she likes it. My big thing this year is gonna be dance classes. She will be 4 this year (in Nov) so I think she is "mature" enough to do it. I had her in gymnastics at 18 months and she had more fun running away then following the structure of the class. Easy person hubby~~shopping for him is just keeping a 13 year old boy in mind and what they would want he wants:rotfl:

:welcome: to our latest girls to join!!! I am loving that people are finding us!! My son who was 12 and turned 13 right before Christmas last year got the Ipod nano and dock thing...he loves it!! He is a techno dude!! ha! That's really cool, I like it. DD6 is still wanting a couple of Leapster games she doesn't have yet...those are good for stockings!! Sometimes TRU has them marked down.
We were at Books a Million today and they have the Vera Bradley stationery stuff marked way down... I got 2 of the comp/notebooks for extra Christmas gifts. I didn't see any of the pens..maybe next time they will have some, and that will make a good gift for some one on my list!!!!

Hey DH is the same way! I never have a problem finding something for him because he usually wants what my 15 year old nephew wants! :rotfl:Last year I got him comic books on a CD!

DD9 - wants a camera or ipod. Since she has a March bday, will get the camera then. Plan to get her the ipod shuffle & some accessories, books, pjs & another webkinz unless she gets out of them by then. Then family can get ideas like itunes cards, charger, etc.
I really want a new camera and I am hoping for the Kodak EasyShare 14 MP.:lovestruc It's about $199 for the bundle (includes a 4 GB memory card) at walmart which is a great price for a 14 MP camera. My mom had an older Kodak EasyShare and she loved it!Even cheaper if you have a sam's club!

I am totally already thinking about Xmas! LOL I already have some stuff in the closet for Chaeli from an awesome sale at Kmart. Here is what we have already:

Little Mommy Baby Knows Doll
Elmo Farm Set
Toddler Cinderella Doll
Little Einsteins bath tub toy set
Little Einsteins DVD and wand set
2 Mickey Mouse Clubhouse character sets

We still want to get her:

Anamalz (she is getting some for her birthday the end of Sept)
Tag Jr. with books and carry case
Maybe Bitty Baby (if we have the money)
If we get Bitty Baby then we will probably get some doll furniture to go with it
Books
Elmo and Mickey Mouse toddler bed sets

I am sure we will come up with a few other things too.

As for DH, I have no idea! He has mentioned a few Xbox 360 games, so I will probably get those and maybe some more clothes for him.

Me, well I want a wii with some games and accessories.

Alright! I am usually a great one for shopping early, but this year I have to wait to buy the bike DD8 wants until closer than usual. Can you say lay-away? Also, it's tech my step-daughter and she is at her mom's house for the summer, so I can't take her shopping to see which size to buy her or see what styles she likes... Also, this will be her last year of believing- so it has to be extra special! Gonna get her the bike, hide it at Nana's (just like her first bike when she was 4- sniff, sniff......)
I need ideas to make it extra special though! Any ideas guys? She will be with us for Christmas day this year too!!! Hurray! So it really has to be special, but keep money in mind. I am not working- only hubby. Also, DS1 will need some extra magic too this year too! Next year DD can help me with all of his stuff and I think she will have a blast with that too.....

Okay, i don't remember anything from when I was little but I do actually have a favorite Christmas memory. when I was about 5 my dad woke me up because he heard Santa downstairs putting our presents under the tree. Me and my older sister snuck down the stairs to see him!!! I am now 31 (:scared1:) and still have this great memory from when I was little! So maybe something like that could make it extra special...it did for me!

I will start mine next week my 2 boys Lego crazy i will need to start soon as lot of sets get sold out nearer holidays espicially Star Wars sets we love those.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

OMG! I so glad I'm not the only person in the world that is already thinking about christmas and shopping!

I have 2 things for christmas already!

1st, and the biggest is our Jan trip to WDW!!! We're going to suprise the kiddos with it on Christmas! Their going to be so excited!

2nd, I just got a beautiful, handmade minnie mouse bracelet that I ordered on esty.com!!

So now I am torn between getting my DD7 the 8GB or the 16GB IPod Touch. I doubt she will need the 16GB but I am trying to look down the road some... still it is an extra $100 dollars....

Thoughts?

I am on the fence about it I should get myself a iPod touch too! it's going to be a good Christmas for me! :rotfl:
I want the 16 GB because not only will I be using it for music but I will using it for videos and apps. But with that being said, this will be my first new iPod since my last 1 GB iPod Shuffle so I will be keeping it for a long time. Do you think your DD7 will keep it for awhile and take care of it? if so, I think the 16 GB is a good investment.

Hello friends!! How is everyone doing? Well, I intended on getting a little shopping for Legos this week. Didn't happen!! Mike was going to take the boys jet skiing at the lake yesterday and today, but we have had tremendous rain/summer storms, so they didnt get to go. I will have to wait!!
Can ya'll believe it's August already!!!??? Time sure does fly, does it not? Well, I thought we might do a little Christmas time countdown since we are officially under the 5 month mark.
