I'm beginning to plan a trip to WDW next December. Right now I'm looking at a five day weekend, the weekend right before Christmas (the 18-23).

We were thinking about doing an Epcot Resort (the Yacht Club) next trip, but the Grand Floridian is just so well decorated for the holiday! I'm just not sure which one would be better to do!

Would MVMCP still be running that weekend before Christmas?

I hate these choices!!!

I love the YC location. But for xmas I think I would pick the GF. The lobby is well decorated. In the late afternoon the CMs come out in the lobby and sing xmas carols followed by the piano & band.

Definitely GF!!! Can't be beat at Christmas (ok, WL gives it a run and just maybe.....)

Has anyone had any experiences with the Poly during Christmas? My wife and I are going for our 35th wedding anniversary and we want to stay on a monorail resort. We have always wanted to try the Poly but never in the budget. What is it like at Christmas?

GF is the best at Christmas.

As for the Poly, well, it's as Christmas-y as you can get in the tropics?

My choice would be an Epcot resort. I know, GF is spectacular at Christmas, but at that time of year, my favorite park is Epcot. The decorations all along World Showcase (with the storytellers), make it my choice.

I think you should choose the GF, as it is beautifully decorated at Christmas. I'll be trying out the YC this December, so I'll have to let you know how it compares. I doubt there will be any MVMCP's that late in the month, but there might be one at the very beginning of your trip.

Cali,
You really want to go back to the GF after your last trip?
Go for the YC!!!!!!;)

I agree with Cindala - go to the YC!!!!!!!!!!

:p :bounce: :p :bounce: :p :bounce:

Laura (princess angel) totally sold me on the YC. :D I doubt we'll be back to the GF until they renovate. The rooms just aren't worth the price anymore. (IMO)

Cali-D ... you want to go somewhere else but the GF is pulling you back in... ;)

Actually, I believe there is going to be a MVMCP on the 20th, but beware it is on a Friday, in fact the Friday before Christmas, so be prepared for that.

We can't go during the holidays until after Christmas, so we're checking in to the GF on Jan 1 (Value season  ) to catch the tail end of the Christmas season.

I'm surprised after your last post too that the GF is calling your name again. But, ahhh, it is so beautiful at Christmas. I think, though, from Laura's posts (princess angel) that I would probalby try the YC. It is a bit different than the GF but being so close to Epcot you could really take advantage of getting to see all the storytellers. And, the lobby of the YC/BC is also nicely done at Christmas with storytellers over at the Boardwalk. It would be a change of pace that you might enjoy.

If I decide to try a deluxe again I think it will be the YC.

CaliforniaDreaming, if you will only be staying at one resort for the whole trip, then book it for the GF. You will miss that place too much if you don't stay there. Just get it over with now and call Dreams Unlimited Travel and book your room immediately! You can worry about AP rates or discount codes later on. ;)

LOL, Janet. I would book a garden view for the Grand Floridian, or probably a water view for the Yacht Club. The Yacht Club would be a few dollars more if I got the WV.

Yes, princess angel seems to promote the Yacht Club well, but she'll need to convince me a little more. :) For those of you that don't know, I had a stay booked at the Yacht Club in January, but princess angel convinced me to switch to the Grand Floridian because the Yacht Club was lacking magic. Her opinion of the place sure has changed since last summer!

Janet2K, thanks for the link - just booked my MVMCP for 12/5!

Cali, enjoy your trip, whereever you choose!

Cali, are you talking about Christmas 2003? With Christmas on a Thursday, it's hard to figure when they'll start Holiday season. If you can find that out and your dates are not included, there's a chance you'll be able to catch one of the last MVMCP.

It's a tough call. The GF is really beautiful at Christmas and it gives you a lot of convenience to the MK, something you might want for the MVMCP. But, there is a lot to be said the location of the Yacht Club and you'll have not only those beautiful decorations but those of the surrounding resorts as well.

Bottom-line, go where your heart calls you. You can't go wrong with either resort.

That'll be Walt's 101st Birthday! Great day for MVMCP.

Mousesavers says value season runs until December 19, holiday season starts on the 20th (same as this year). We'd probably just go the 18-23. Yacht Club standard is $289, water is $345. Grand Floridian garden is $339, lagoon is $400. At the Grand Floridian, unless I can get a discount, I wouldn't get anything other than garden view (I'd love to do lodge concierge, though). Garden view concierge at the YC would be nice, too.

Still can't decide what I want!

Okay, Princess Angel, where are you? Why would you choose the YC over the GF? Now, I'm curious. I think I might lean toward the YC for the location, primarily, but then again......the decorations at the GF are hard to beat at Christmas...but then again YC has stormalong bay and then again... GF has the monorail...and so it goes....
