Anyone know when the Christmas Parage will be filmed this year? I've heard it was the first Saturday in December making it, this year, on Saturday December 5th. Is there anywhere I can call at WDW to verify this? My guess is no because they want the parade, when viewed on TV, to seem like it's live.

Also for anyone that's been there for the filming, is it very crowded that day? Do they let the cat our of the bag that the parade is being filmed that day?

Thanks!
Donna

I was there (at the MVMCP) on Dec. 3rd this past year and they were filming then. I believe they also filmed the previous night. That would have been Thrusday and Friday night. The booth was set up right past the Crystal Palace/Casey's on Main Street. During the actual parade and fireworks, we got stuck in a crowd in Fantasyland, so I didn't actually see any of the stars, but they did actually tell us that Regis and Kelly were scheduled to be there that night. By the time we actually made it down to Main Street, they were gone.

The first Saturday in December this year would be the 3rd not the 5th (just in case you wanted the exact date for when you call :) )

I was there for the Friday and Sat. taping in 2004. They encourage people as they are walking by to stand and watch.

Yes it does get crowded. After the taping all the "extras" head off to do the rides. You get free admission into the park if you are one of the "extras" in the crowd.

They have you act like the parade is live and it is warm. It was cold this year but you wouldn't know it on TV. It's fun to watch and participate but be aware you do more standing and waiting than watching parts of the parade.

It isn't the parade start to finish. They may film the same float over and over till they get it the way they want it.

I don't think they set the actual dates this far ahead. Probably in the fall. There's no guarantee it will be the same as the past couple years. I remember 4 or 5 years ago they did the parade at night and showed it on Christmas Night instead of the morning. The network execs could decide to do something different this year.

We were in MK the first Saturday in December 2003. Main Street was very crowded and hard to navigate with a double stroller. Unless you are really interested in watching the parade, I would plan to go a different day. I hear it is always the first Staurday in December.
