christmas-NY week, best strategy without exrpess pass-is pm better?

I have been this week before and it was a madhouse--this is the only time we can go. Have not been since the new HP stuff. We will have a 3 day park to park pass. We were going to go 12/23 (Sat) and maybe 12/29, both arriving at 8:30am (earliest we can get there). The other day (12/27) we were thinking of just going in the evening. We are 4 persons and already have lodging, so no staying onsite and no express passes. What is the bet strategy on above days to see HP stuff and then do a few other rides with the least wait in line. We are fine with single rider lines, except FJ. We have teens, so no little kid stuff. They like roller coasters, but are fine with lesser coasters, or not as popular ones.

Get there as early as humanly possible and ride everything in the morning or late at night. Mid-day will be an absolute mad house.

We locals call that week "Holiday Hell Week" and all the parks are slammed morning, noon and night. Gonna be scary...good luck to you.
