We are planning a trip for 12-27 to 1-4.

I understand from these boards that it will be very crowded so we are considering paying the extra money to stay at the Contemporary so we can walk to MK and save some time.

We are PAP holders and I am wondering if anyone knows if it is possible that AP rate discounts will be available during this time??

That's peak season and AP discounts will be as rare as a PS at Cindy's during that time. When discouts are offered they are also usually inversely related to the crowd levels, I'd expect something in the 10% department, if at all.

We just booked 12/27 to 1/1 and got a rack rate room at All Star Music. Sports and Movies were sold out for that time.. We are also AP holders and will keep watching for codes but really don't expect any for that holiday week.

I've never known them to have discounts available during that time period. At least not from the 27th through the 31st. When we stayed last year, we moved our arrival date to the 12/19 as that was the last day the AP rate was available for the Christmas season. That way we got the AP rate for the entire stay and it actually cost us less to stay for 13 nights than it was going to for 9 nights at holiday rates. Since you're starting your stay during the holiday rates, you're going to pay holiday rates for your entire stay unless you break up the reservation.

If you were willing to break up your reservation there will probably be some out for the last few days of your trip. As I recall the new codes and AP rates for this year started either on the 1st or 2nd. Even if it were only for 3 or 4 nights, I think you'd save quite a bit off those high holiday rates. It's something to think about.

Also, the crowds should lighten up considerably after the 1st. We were there this past Christmas from 12/19 - 01/03. By the 23rd it was packed wall to wall. New Year's Day was very quiet in the morning, but by noon it was getting pretty crowded at the MK. From what I've read, after that it gets much better!

By any chance can you take advantage to the Swan/Dolphins teacher rate?? We are going to WDW on Dec. 23 and staying until Jan 3 and we are using the Teacher's rate ($129.00) at the Swan. It is a great deal!!

Thanks - my wife is a teacher and I never thought to check the Swan and Dolphin. I just called and made the reservation for the $129!!!

WE have stayed at the Swan/Dolphin twice in the past and have LOVED it!!! We really enjoyed being able to walk to EPCOT and taking the boat to the other parks was pretty conveinent. At night it was nice to take the kids for a walk around the boardwalk and then back to the hotel for some time in the beautiful pools. This was by far the nicest hotel for the $ that we could book. We have never stayed at Christmas/New Years but we are looking forward to it this year. I am glad that things worked out for you and your family. Maybe we will "bump" into you and your family while we are there.
