Christmas & My Happy Place Equals Perfection. - A Dec 2011 PTR

Cheryl... You can "gift" it to me when you no longer need it. :)

Actually, I am interested in Chiara's answer to your questions too.

D~

We love our DVC membership. You can buy points cheaper resale but they are limited to where you can use them. We have bought all our points directly from Disney so they can be used on cruises and other exchanges.

From what I have read online smaller contacts sell easier than large ones.

I will say that our membership has been a blessing for us with J. You also vacation differently with it.

Cheryl and once your kids settle down they may feel differently.

I would LOVE to be able to buy DVC! Cheryl, I think a joint gift to D~ & I would be just perfect! We could host a Disboutiquers Reunion trip every year in your honor :)

Seriously!!! When are they going to get the little yellow head with the big hand to slap himself on the forehead. 'Cuz I'd put him right

<-----there, and then write, 'why didn't I think of that!'

Good to know about resale and smaller contracts. :thumbsup2

The deal my husband and I have is that the "unexpected ginormous check" that is no doubt on its way to us now, will go towards DVC.

I've gone back and forth a few times. Weighing the annual fee, airfare, admission tickets, the 40 year commitment, lots of :mickeybar, and to what extent I would want to go places other than Disney.

You're right that it's hard to project what it will be like with married kids and/or grandchildren. Of course, as someone who likes to go solo so I can do whatever whenever, grandchildren might :confused3 change that.

Let me go run the numbers. Stay right there.

:snail: numbers, where are you? here numbers . . .

I will tell you that DH and I do regret that we did not buy sooner. Especially since we always stay Deluxe.

Ok so I am debating a PTR for all my trips this year we have April which is Easter and our 15th Anniversary, A cruise on the Magic in July and our annual august trip, we are also debating on another Christmas trip so I am trying to come up with a new PTR name.

I will also be posting more pictures later and some details from our trip. While I did not take a lot of pictures we did get quite a few photopass pictures.

Hmmm... A name... You are going for your anniversary and Easter??? Let me think...

If you're looking for attention grabbing it could be "I'm going to WDW and Cheryl's NOT"

Oh Marianne - I think you might be right... I hope Cheryl doesn't see that. My sincerest apologies Cheryl. ;)

So I had posted about our Magic Kingdom day when I updated while on our trip.

It really was a fabulous morning and reinforces having a good touring plan. I will share a couple pictures I have from our morning.

Riding the Speedway

J and I went on the teacups while they were getting off the speedway. Then G and C rode twice.

We didn't ride space mountain this trip because my friends little boy was scared. He would hype it up and then cry he was scared. It really got annoying but we did other things.

We walked on to most rides this morning. I couldn't really believe it.

Here is a picture of G and J after his haircut. I will say I love the material these pants are made. I used the same fabric for Lindsays Big Give

Awww... Those are adorable pictures! :)

I agree with a good touring plan, but even more so, since you were there the busiest week!!! I am glad you got a lot accomplished in the mornings. And I just love the outfits your kids have on - super cute!!!

So on the 27th we went over to Animal Kingdom I had plans for us to be here for a while well no one wanted to get up early and then we get there explicitly to ride Everest because it was shut down in August when we went there the little crapper 9 year old boy cries he is to scared I had already sent my DH and C on the single rider line. The get back and ride once more. We leave AK because it is 9:30 and crazy crowded.

I also did not plan much this trip because I wasn't sure who would do what. J and I love people watching so it is no big deal to me.

After leaving AK we head to Epcot. At epcot C and G go on Test TRack and we part ways with the friends for a bit which is great for my sanity. We FP Test Track for later since it looks like it will be closed for our April Trip and is Cs favorite ride (sadly I have an awesome outfit in my mind for this ride)

The friends head to Mission Space where they wait for over an hour for it. Sorry not me.

Okay here is the funny story I promised, we are not big eaters we eat one meal a day in Disney and it is a big meal otherwise we eat a snack or share something. Our friends son wanted to go to the ESPN zone and have nachos every day. I am not a big bar food person so I found it funny that he was obsessed with going and seeing all the TVs at ESPN and having NAchos.

Oh we also had our Visa Rewards Picture taken this day.We got to see Mickey Goofy and Minnie and we planned it perfectly because we missed the rain by being inside innoventions.

I will have to post some photopass pictures once I get them

oh and I have come to the conclusion it is easier to vacation alone than with people :lmao::rotfl2:

Love all the cute photos so far.:goodvibes

Great photo of you and your husband.

I just got off the phone with a DVC salesperson. I got the offer in the mail for a $40 Disney gift card (first saw it mentioned on the Budget board) if you listen to a phone solicitation. The guy was VERY low key. I don't think I was on the phone even 10 minutes. Sure beats the four pack of fastpasses we were offered in the park one time!!!

Here's my question for you. Do you know how hard it would be to sell the points at some time? I don't see me going to Disney when I'm in my 90s so I'm a little tentative about a 40 year "deal." My other concern is that if I die (the odds are good) I know my sons would inherit it, but I don't know if they'd want a "gift" that costs them $500 a year. Bottom line, what's the word on the street about how hard it is to unlaod when you're "done" with it?

We have 100 pts we purchased through Disney and a few weeks ago we bought another 55 points through the Time Share store and Chiara is right the smaller contracts get sold very quickly.

DH & I went back and forth about becoming DVC members but in 2010 we rented some points and stayed at AKL and well the rest is history. As soon as we came home DH decided he only ever wanted to stay at AKL and we purchased DVC. So far we have been very happy with it:love:

:thumbsup2 My DS does not like many rides but I would never expect other people to avoid the ride because of my son was scared. They should have just waited for you to go on and then you all move to the next ride.:headache:
