OK. Maybe this is not the first thread about this, but I've been looking for days and I can't find anything, so here it goes.

We are going to spend Christmas week in WDW :scared1: crazy, I know. The thing is that this is the first time we are going to spend Christmas someplace else and I'm trying to plan Christmas Day :santa:. I won't be doing any parks that day, I was thinking of maybe doing the resorts decorations tour instead. My big question is: what about the presents? my kids believe in Santa :santa: and what about the tree?

Please help, I know you guys have the answers!!

im not sure on prices but if you call wdw florist you can order a tree, my family normally gets a small small tree at walmart. and just a suggestion you can get packages shipped prior to your arrival to the resort and then you can totally wrap them and not have to stress when you get there.

We spent Christmas 2006 in WDW. :lovestruc Here is what we did, when we got there (we had a rental) we went and bought a little pre lit christmas tree at Target. We also bought a package of small round ornaments. We set the tree up and I had brought stockings from home, that we put on the knobs of the dresser. On christmas morning the kids woke up full stockings, inside of the stockings they both got a Disney t-shirt, Disney PJ's, a Disney Beanie Baby, Disney wash cloths and a few little disney themed toys. We also found a little note from Santa. It read: Dear Michael and Samantha I hope you both are enjoying your vacation in Disney. I just wanted to let you know that I have also been to your house in CT and I have left you lots more presents there for you, I did not want to leave them in hotel room, since it would of been too hard for you to take them home on the plane later. Merry Christmas Love Santa :lovestruc

:lovestrucStop it!!!!!! This is the cutest idea EVER!!!!!!:lovestruc

This is great! you may give me any other recommendation of what to do on Christmas Day, OK.:santa:

My family and my brother's family celebrated Christmas in Disney 4 years ago. His younger children received a similar note from Santa about gifts left at home under the tree, as well as a couple of small, packable gifts to open in the hotel.

My teenaged children were old enough to understand that the trip was the gift....but I was also able to pack a small suitcase containing a tiny pre-lit tree, holiday window clings and a string of lights, and wrapped gifts (don't use boxes as they take up too much space) like Disney t-shirts, pjs, and pins....all purchased online, on sale, prior to the trip.

On Christmas morning, after gifts and an in-room breakfast, we all went to Mass at the Contemporary Hotel. Our two families headed to downtown Disney for Christmas dinner at Portabella Yacht Club. Then we went to see "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" at AMC theatres. I think we ended the day with Illuminations in Epcot, but stayed away from the parks otherwise.

This year, Christmas morning will find us in a hotel in Savannah, GA, waking up early for the last leg of our trip (driving from MA). We'll head to St. Augustine, FL for late morning Christmas Mass (oldest Catholic parish in the USA), then on to Gaylord Palms Hotel in Orlando, where we plan to see "ICE" (google Gaylord Palms Ice if you want to see something cool!) and have a family Christmas dinner at one of their fine hotel restaurants. We'll stay at the Palms for 2 nights before heading to the Dolphin.

Also, we love to resort hop to see the decorations during our trip. :santa:

When we were there for Christmas, I packed some of the smaller presents in a suitcase and we brought a small prelit tree along. Bought some ornaments at the MK to decorate. But, before we left the house, I put our other presents under the tree (we picked our son up at school). I put the presents we brought along under our little tree after our son went to sleep on Christmas eve night.

On Christmas morning, our son got a letter from Santa in his stocking that Santa knew we were travelling, so he left most of the presents at home. But he wanted to make sure we had something to open that morning.

When we arrived home, our son ran right to the tree and all the presents were there.

On Christmas Day we did some miniature golfing at Winter-Summerland (excellent theme) and had a nice dinner.

It looks like Christmas Day is finally taking form. I think we are going to do the buy a small Christmas tree, stockings and I would like to put some more Christmas decorations for the room with no so big presents and Santa's note. Breakfast in room, go to the Mass, then to see ICE (I didn't know about this, it looks amazing!) and minigolf. :santa:

I am so excited!! Thank you guys!:thumbsup2

We also did the tree in the room. But I have seen others leave gifts under/around the tree in the hotel lobby. One year I stayed with at the Beach Club and it was very cool seeing a couple different families with children opening gifts in the lobby near the tree.

I guess it also varies depending on how old the kids are. Wow - opening gifts in the lobby - how cool!

I thought about this for this year also! In 2001, we drove down for 10 nights before Christmas, and I brought a small tree and lights, and my kids got some small gifts during the week (light up spinny things, all Disney related, nothing big at all). It is so festive there! We were at the Boardwalk Villas, and lots of folks put lights out on their balconies. I actually was going to do that last year (we went again before Christmas) but didn't have the right extension cord.

Any child will understand keeping it small. It really is the thought that counts! Opening small gifts (coloring books, crayons, glow sticks) is just as fun as other things.

I didn't know they still had mass there - that is nice!

How that can be done???!!!! That sounds soooo cool, I will love to do that.:santa:

We stayed at AKV Xmas 2007.

There is a DISer who used to have her own business (Feralpeg) & we paid for her to come in to our room on our 2nd day while we were out. She decorated & set up a Disney-themed Xmas tree. :santa: It was great!!

On Xmas eve, after the kids were asleep, I took all of the kids' gifts out of a HUGE duffel bag I'd brought (we drive....so no problem with our amount of luggage). The kids were totally surprised Xmas morning.

On Xmas day, we had breakfast at 'Ohana & dinner at Chef Mickey's. No parks for us that day.

Wow! What a great idea!! I had always said I wouldn't do the Christmas day thing in WDW until my little ones no longer believe, but you just gave me hope that we won't have to wait that long! Thank you!
