Christmas Magic: DH Finally Gets It!! Update: pg9 Last Day, Wrap up!

All right, all caught up!

First of all, bravo for "mixing it up" with Disneyland trips inbetween your WDW trips. We do that too!

What a beautiful view from your room! Your DS sounds just like mine, dragging a chair over to peer over the balcony. I just say he's "all boy" and tell DH that we can have another baby some day, but if baby 3 is like DS, we're not having a 4th! (Then he asks me what if DD is like DS, and I just pretend I don't hear him...)

Brady looks so happy on Dumbo with Gramma! I hope you have that picture framed!

Your pics at the Poly are beautiful, including the ones you took yourself! Makes me think we should take a stroll out to the beach when we go!

I'm so happy that your DH got it. My DH is crazier about disney than I am, and spends time trying to convince his boss to go back to disney and planning his boss's trips for him. I think his boss probably thinks he's crazy, but he did buy DH a book as a souvenir last time he went!

Oh, it's my dream to go to MVMCP! I can't wait to hear all about it! The pictures are so beautiful already!

So it's that old excuse again, you know, the one where the writer has a whole update written out and then magically something happens and the PC shuts down and she loses everything!
Here is my attempt at this update again, I'm determined to finish this TR!!


I'll add some photopass pics since I've recently gotten my pics! These were taken at the WL before we left for MVMCP!

There was a photopass photog in front on the Tree every night at the WL.

I last left off as we were entering MVMCP. We had plans to meet up with some DISers and decided we would meet over by the TomorrowLand show. It was starting soon so we made our way down Main St.

I had 'made' the sweatshirts and tee for DS with some help from the DISigns board! They are great!!

We found our new friends in a very packed Tomorrowland and soon the show started. It was a really cute show starring Buzz Lightyear, Stitch, Mike Wazowski and even Santa himself! DS was in heaven as he loves Monster's Inc and Toy Story!
After the show we decided it was time to eat. We went to Cosmic Rays as it was close and not too busy at the time. Momma and I got burgers and DH got chicken I think. We ended up just sharing with DS. He had some yogurt before we left the room. I have to say I'm just not a huge fan of Cosmic Rays. I thought there would be more choices than I saw. Perhaps I looked too quickly. It was good and filling, just not my favorite meal.

After eating we saw a 10 min line for the RaceTrack and decided to jump in line. This was DS's first time in the drivers' seat. He was too cute. I tried to take video of him but you can't even see his head! He had fun, I guess that's all that matters
We then went on the teacups and Dumbo. We headed towards Minnie's house as she was in her gazebo taking pictures.

Here's where we got into some trouble. DS is terrified of fireworks. The show started just as we were leaving Minnie's house and I think we scarred DS for life! He was freaking out and buried his little head in DHs shoulder. We tried to take him on the Barnstormer to distract him and I think he rode the whole thing with his eyes closed! We finally got him in his stroller and he still wouldn't open his eyes. Even after they show ended he didn't believe that it was really over. Poor kid. Fireworks are just too loud for him!
We managed to get over into Fantasyland and rode the carousel. Then it was time for some hot chocolate and cookies at Pinocchio's. They even had apple juice for the kids. I thought that was nice. The cookies were blagh! But the hot chocolate was good!

DS was winding down for the night so DH and i rode the Haunted Mansion while Grammy sat with DS. When we got out the parade started and we were sort of trapped. We decided it was time to go and headed all the way around the world laughing back through Tomorrowland to get out. It was a fun night for all!!

We didn't have much of a wait for a boat once we got out of the MK. When we got back to our rooms momma and I had to set our alarms for 5:30am!! Find out why next time!!!!!

Poor DS with the fireworks. I was that child. And my parents took us on vacation for the 4th of July every year. I remember screaming during fireworks at WDW, Gettysburg, Washington, DC...what were they thinking? (Apparently it was traumatic, because I definitely wasn't scared of them anymore by the time I was 6, so I'm surprised I remember all of those trips!)

And that castle covered in icicle lights never gets old, does it? SO beautiful!

It's weird though cause DS will watch fireworks on tv (we have a video of Illuminations) and he'll tell me that he likes fireworks but that he remembers being scared of them Hopefully he'll grow out of this soon. I haven't seen fireworks in 3 years!

I'm sure your photos are beautiful, but I agree that if I wasn't buying the cd I wouldn't try so hard to get good pics!
There were times when my DH was like, "We just had our picture taken!"

The morning had finally arrived for Grammy and I to make our EARLY morning trek to the MK! Let me take you back a couple weeks before our trip.

WDW had announced the schedule for shooting the Christmas Day tv special. It was for the weekend we would be there. I was just excited that we might catch a glimpse of the parade or Regis and Kelly! Well, some of my fellow DISers had gotten tickets for a few of the tapings. The had some extra tickets for the friday morning taping so I choose to jump on them! And guess what? We would be taping the opening dance/song number and had to learn some dance moves! This is fun and also funny at the same time (if you've ever seen my mother dance!)

So Grammy and I set our alarms for 5:30. We had to be at the MK at 6:30am in order to be part of the taping. They said there would be WDW transportation available so we made our way to the WL bus stop at about 6am. Of course there was no one around! We didn't know what to do so Grammy went to the front desk and they said they would call transportation for us. We were told a bus would be there in 15 mins. We contemplated taking a cab but figured it would take a cab just as long to get to us at that point.

Oh, and one other thing, There was about 95% chance of rain for that day But right then it wasn't raining so we were optimistic.

Eventually the bus did come for us. We were the only ones along for the ride and had a nice chat with the driver! He let us off and we joined a big line of people dressed in Red and Green and White! The atmosphere was great and it was soo fun even just being in line!
However it did start to rain a bit at this point. We were soon brought into the MK:

There were cameras set up all over the place and we were told that we'd be broken into groups to learn the 'dance' parts! Just as they were announcing this cue RAIN!

It started pouring! Everyone scrambled to what little shelter they could get to. At this point most of the crowd was near Casey's and everyone tried to get under cover along Main St. It was soon announced that we would be walking to TommorrowLand and going to Cosmic Rays. We all crammed into Cosmic Rays (another group broke off to somewhere else) and waited for A) the rain to stop or B) the backup plan.

It was soon clear that the rain wasn't going to stop. We were told that we would've been watching the Jonas Bros! but instead we would be attending Celine Dion's concert which had been moved to the lobby of the Grand Floridian. However, we couldn't be let back into the MK to get out of there because the park wasn't officially open yet and for whatever reason we couldn't be there. So we sat uncomfortably in Cosmic Rays till 9:00 when they let us out. Also, we were given 'tickets' to attend the Jonas Bros taping on Sunday but we were leaving on Sat so that wasn't going to work for us. Oh well, to tell the truth I don't even know 1 song from the JoBros. But it still would've been FUN!

So Grammy and I took the monorail to the GF and NEEDED coffee and breakfast! We tried to get into the GF Cafe but the wait was 45 mins. We just got CS and made the best of it.

I won't bore you with the rest of the details of the morning. We waited around FOREVER for Celine and she came out and looked beautiful! Her husband was there watching too! She only sang 2 songs but sang each one like 5 times. It took forever!

So that was our MK Christmas parade experience. We had fun and it was nice just to be together!

Well, the rain is no fun. BUT it's still a great experience to have had! How exciting that you got to take part in that. Seeing famous people is always a bonus too. Not that I would know, I went to Disney and I saw John Stevens from American Idol. Who...isn't really a celebrity, and who I could have run into any old day at like, Starbucks back in Buffalo. So, Celine Dion is awesome!

DH and I were thinking it would be fun, but I'm not sure how long the girls could sit through. Maybe we'll get tickets and stay as long as the girls can handle, then head to some rides when they start to get antsy!

I loved seeing the pics of your son at HISTK play area...I can't wait to take my DS there!!! He will be 2 1/2 at the time of our trip & he loves playgrounds & the play areas at the local malls, so I'm sure he'll LOVE the WDW ones!!!

The WL looks gorgeous also!!! Loved the pics from the resort!!! And the Christmas decorations as well...can't wait to go & see them all!

I taped it and we watch it all the time. The Celine part was one of my favorites SO cool that you got to be there!!! However, sounds like it was quite a morning

No, the reality is we didn't join the group on the main level because we were afraid of being kept there and not let go. We had already invested so much time and we were tired and wet and cold so we just hung out on the 2nd floor.

I actually had the last 2 yrs Christmas parades on my DVR but then it broke and we had to get a new one and we lost everything I was NOT happy!

Hopefully I'll finish up my TR this week. I only have 1 more day to write up and I'm really getting excited for my next trip in only 6 WEEKS!

Our next trip will be a surprise for DH. It'll be for his birthday and I am planning on leaving DS with Grammy. It'll be nice to get away for a bit. I have special dinners and a spa day planned Can't wait!

I'm hoping to go back again with DS and Grammy too. We are thinking September right now but I'm hoping to talk them into a Nov or Dec trip. We'll see how things pan out-and hopefully some good PIN codes or deals!
