Ok ...I am so excited. Got the call yesterday we have a BWView stuido Dec 23-26th. So can I put up Christmas lights? Has anyone done this?...Please share the tips and what do you bring!!! My boys are 8 yo and still believe, and I want to make this a magical Christmas.

We hung icicle lights from our balcony. I brought wired ribbon to attach them to the railing. You will need an extension cord because there is no outlet on the balcony.
Our last trip we had a 2 bedroom with a solid wall balcony. Ended up going to buy self-stick hooks to string the lights, then we used string to tie them to furniture in case the self-stick tabs let go. I don't know if they ever split up the 2 bedrooms with a solid wall into a 1 bedroom and a studio, but from now on I am coming prepared with string and self-stick hooks.

Staying Dec 8th thre the 13th, will hang somekind of lights.

Last year we stayed at SS the first week of Dec. We bought a small tree and trimmings and put it in a seperate suitcase. When the girls went to bed we put the tree up and hung stockings. They were so surprised the next morning. Every night Mickey would put something new in their stockings. We also took window sticks and let the girls decorate the patio door. They changed the sticks everyday. I was fun

Yes, you can definitely hang lights! We last did Christmas in 2008 and we wound up going to the Walmart on John Young (near the airport) to get more lights. We took a Christmas tree, Disney ornaments, stockings, etc. The only thing we forgot were the little suction cups to hang up the lights. I would suggest bringing those with, because trying to find those during the holidays was crazy.

HTH! Have fun!

Oh boy - we are BIG Christmas decorators!!! Our Holiday disney trip is the 1st week of December - but it doesn't stop us for a minute. I ship a box ahead of time which includes decorations and gifts for our co-travelers and Orlando friends.

Decorations.......

Lights on the balcony - be sure to take an extension cord to reach into the room. Don't forget to turn these on before you leave the room for the evening so they will be twinkling when you return.

I make a Christmas tree for the room - very easy, beautiful and lightweight. Go to Michaels and get a styrofoam cone. I generally reinforce the taller cones with stiff stemwire (top of the cones sometimes break off). Next I'm off to the dollar store for foliage. Trim the wires of the florals to about 4 inches and then just stick into the cone. This will turn into a 4 foot BEAUTIFUL tree for very little $$$. Finish with a 50 count strand of lights (and another extension cord).

I have Christmas napkins, nightlights and stockings for everyone (you can find stockings at the dollar store and they are easily embelished). Don't forget the Christmas soaps from the Basin store. I cutout Mickey-shape sponges for all our sinks (at Christmas these are green sponges!!).

Don't forget to wrap your door like a Christmas package (leave an opening for the peep hole).

Now be sure everything is down with no traces when you checkout.

The last morning we collect the tree, lights and extension cords and head to the lobby. We look for a family - just checking in and hand over the decorations for THEM to enjoy! Makes us feel GREAT when we see the smiles!

Here are some photos of our decorations at BWV during our past two Christmases ('08 and '09):

I am glad to see most responders think it is okay to do the "lights" thing. Last time I asked this question a couple of years ago, I got "fried" by posters who were opposed to people hanging lights.

I did not want to do any outlandish thing, just hang a simple light strand from our balcony.

I have read those posts before too some owners do seem to frown on light decorations. HOWEVER your an owner too and as long as your carefull, use a good extension cord and be mindfull of fire hazards, it'll be fine.
My wife and I ALWAYS decorate our room for 4th of July and Christmas trip. Usually ship in a 4 foot Pre-lit tree from WalMart, costs $20.00 decorations and we're all set. Have a Great time we will be at the Beach Club 12/12-12/17, Shawnpirate:
