Christmas ideas for Teen boys

I was thinking of getting my high school junior new bedroom furniture. I even was showing DH some ideas. Guess what he asked for, before I could even ask him... new furniture. The furniture he has is the same he transitioned to after his toddler bed and is a twin. He wants a full desk. In particular he wants to pick out a new desk that will hold two monitors.

They make stands that can hold multiple monitors so you need less actual desk space and the heights and angles can be adjusted to the users specific need. My DH works in IT and has a 4 monitor set up for his home office. He also just bought a USB extender for his laptop for under $10, so instead of one port he has 4 ports he can use.

a book for my youngest on how they Imagineered the Haunted Mansion
Can I ask what book this is? Sounds right up my, I mean, DS's ally

6. Jar of M&Ms with a special insert
I LOVE this idea! Totally stealing it.

My 12 yo mostly wants Nintendo gift cards and video games. I'm still struggling with what else to get him.
What is it about this age group? I'm really struggling with DS11 this year. More than any other year. All he's asked for is games for his Switch, but at $30-50 a pop he'd only be getting a few gifts if that's all I stick with.

Ds14.. we are going to Disney in March and both dd and he are getting their ticket as a gift.

I got him one of the upgraded Chromebooks. We built a gaming PC for Christmas last year. The Chromebook is for homework , using the internet and watching Netflix. There are a lot of times someone else wants the PC at the same time he needs to do homework etc. This will help.

Clothes.. he’s growing and happens to need some of it, but some is just things he wants.

Gift cards for food places near his high school.

Xbox Live subscription for the year

The new Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo Switch. He’s mentioned wanting this about 100 times so far.

15 year old DS is going on a school trip to Japan next summer, that's his big present for Christmas and his birthday. I'll get him some small, filler type presents so he has something to open and probably pay for his passport.

So far, I've come up with:

a couple of books in the series he's reading - something Anime, I don't know which one
A travel book for Japan and maybe a book of common phrases
He wants a surround sound system for his room, only if I can find one CHEAP
some small $ amount gift cards - starbucks, burger king, etc for his stocking
socks and underwear
A dress shirt and tie (he had to dress up for something at school this weekend, this is a NEED)

Wow, these are awesome ideas! Last year I bought them the Wendy's key fob. They can get a free junior frosty everyday for a year with any purchase. These cost only $2.00 each. The fobs are really small.

check out think geek's site. they have allot of less expensive items to round out your shopping for him. i've got a son with the identical wish list dynamic so i get him tshirts w/his favorite video game characters (walmart/jc penny are an inexpensive option for these) and video game related odds and ends from think geek. ds also really liked it when we gifted him a few month's membership to 'steam' so he could rent vs. buy some of the video games.

Thank you for starting this thread! My son's birthday is Nov 29 and I always struggle to find the right things for birthday then Christmas. He's turning 13 this year, too.

He's only asked for 2 things - a hover board and an X box. He's getting a hover board for his birthday and the Xbox will be a family Christmas gift - but I have to find some other stuff for him to open on both occasions! Right now I have an Overwatch T-shirt and a cool camping chair, but other than that I am at a loss, so I will look forward to reading what others are doing.

If the family gift is an xbox you could get him his on wireless controller with a skin of a favorite character or a game that he would like or if you are going to let him play online a headset or subscription to xbox live.

My nephew is 14 and this year he honestly asked me to get him new bedding lol so I have him that and the guinness world records video gamers edition

Oh yeah, definitely an OUTSIDE toy! He and his friends like to spend hours at the nearby park, I'm thinking it will be fun for that.

FYI,

Silly String is toxic for dogs so it may be toxic for any wild animals that live at your local park.

Hi Hon
This may not work but my sons all picked up IKEA desks and each have two or more monitors.
I live in Canada though,, but maybe they have them where you live.
Build your own desk.

A collapseable snow shovel to keep in car. Trust me from experience, DD used hers a few times to dig out after a plow went by. About $15 on amazon

WOW-I am sooo glad you posted this! My son has just begun to play this year and I know it would knock his socks off if I got him one of those. Do you have any suggestions? I will go into my local music store too with the guitar and see what they suggest but I know they will up sell me because I dont know a thing about those!

Well its hard because he told me which one he wanted. I'm not a guitar player so I don't know much about it. If you think he'd like it go for it!

a plastic container of cat litter is handy as well. it works as well if not better than sand for traction and if you get the kind of container with a spout it's easy to pour (makes allot less of a mess than carrying a small bag of sand in your trunk).

Thanks again, I told my hubby last night and he said "How do you come up with all these ideas?" LOL-our little secret, right my fellow DisBoarders!

Older son - What about AAA, this can come in handy. We gave this to our DD when she was a senior in high school and college, she used it a lot, dead battery, flat tire, even once on a date, and he did not get another date...a car kit- jumper cables, and some basic tools, lug wrench, jack, orange cones/triangles, or flares, & a flashlight. As well as a first aid kit for the car, Gift cards for oil change, tire rotation, car wash. Gift cards, for food, gas, movies and since he commutes back and forth you don't have to worry about what's on campus. Small items such as socks, under wear/boxers, sleep pants, t-shirts, key chain, floor mats, or steering wheel cover, car jar to make it smell better. Work out clothes if he is into this, work shoes/pants/shirts if he is working.

Younger son - much of the same thing if he is driving, and has his own wheels. I would wait until he actually graduating from high school before you start buying for college, kids change their minds on this kinda stuff all the time, then there is no pressure if he changes his mind.

All of my kids got AAA the day they got drivers licenses. In my state, if you sign them up for the free teen card by 15, they automatically get a free year of AAA when they get their licenses. Dd22 even maxed out a couple of months before one year was over. We have gold, because 2 of them went away to college, but under 100, so free tows.

It is a book I bought in the Haunted Mansion gift shop about how they Imanineered the Haunted Mansion. He plans to go to an Engineering college so he can design theme park rides

I was just browsing Sharper Image catalog and ended up buying my son the Bonsai Lamp, Bluetooth speaker, wireless charger. I notice on Amazon you can find it a bit cheaper but I had a discount code and got the $25 cash back, etc. so worked out for me plus the 12-month warranty in mixed. Since he is getting all new bedroom furniture, I think this will make a. Nice addition to his night stand.

Always come here for ideas for my three boys (16, 14, 9)
Adding
Headphones
Amazon Dots
Spotify subscriptions
Weightlifting Items
Survival type books
Subscription to magazines (hunting, sports, weightlifting)
Books always!
Board games and card games
Rope lights to decorate their rooms
They still like little bobble heads or figurines to decorate their bookcases...I love when they ask for silly stuff

DS17 asked for a new phone case. We like to get them (I also have ds15) rugged cases, so I got them each an otter box for 10% off at Target on Black Friday. Other than that, some t shirts (novelty ones and undershirt ones), snacks, ear buds so far. We celebrate Chanukah, Christmas and DS17’s birthday is next month so it’s hard to figure out what to buy. I ordered him Cards Against Humanity for his bday because I think it will be fun to take to college next year. Now that he’s driving, his brother will be getting his permit soon and they both have checking accounts, they go out a little more and I think cash will work just fine ;).
