Christmas/Holiday 2011 on the Wonder: 8 night Mexican Riviera 12/18/2011

Documents just arrived!!! :banana::cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

Sorry newbie question, what documents?

What would I do without my experienced friends. I am so thankful I not only found this website but that I found all of you. Okay I better stop before I bust out in a verse of Wind Beneath My Wings.

Off to San Francisco in the morning. Going to have a nice weekend getaway just my sister and I. She helps me so much while I go through chemo she deserves a R&R weekend.

I do not understand the question....sorry.

ok should I be worried, im a newbie too...First cruise ever..no docs yet..

Did you book through a travel agent? If so the docs may have been sent to them first. I always set mine to go straight to my clients but others chose for them to go to the TA first.

The way that I understand the additional list, and I may be wrong, is that if you join the second list you are giving one gift to each cabin, or person on the list. Depending on what type of gift you are giving.

So if you join the second list you are simply adding the new people who join that list and not doubling the people from list one.

If I am wrong please anyone let me know, because I was wondering the same thing.

I was gone all weekend in San Francisco and had an amazing trip, but now I am worried I got behind in my gift making process. woooooosawww deep breath ok I have plenty of time.

See you all in just a few weeks. Soon we will be down to counting days!!!! I am excited and stressed at the same time.

Hello there!

I wrote into this board a few months ago, and then kind of vanished because we had a Nov 5-12 Eastern Caribbean on the Magic planned, and I was busy planning that, and being involved in that cruise meet, and I was so focused on that cruise that I hadn't been thinking about this Christmas cruise.

But, we just got back on Saturday and had SUCH a fun time!! And, when we got home, our cruise docs for this cruise were waiting for us in our mailbox! :cool1:

Now, I'm on full force planning/thinking about this cruise, and am super excited!! They JUST started decorating the ship for Christmas the day before we got off the ship, so it got us really excited for our 8 day Christmas Cruise soon!!

We participated in the FE exchange on this past cruise, and it was our first time doing that (it was our 4th cruise, but I just have never done the FE exchange before), and it was SOOOOOO much fun!!!! I had been waiting to join this FE group until after our November cruise just to see if we liked it, and how it worked, etc, and it was SO much more fun than we ever imagined! There were 28 cabins who participated and we got stuff in our FE every day. My kids (2 boys) just loved it, and they now are asking if we can do the FE exchange for this cruise.

However, I'm pretty dissapointed to see that the FE has already closed.... :sad1:. Our cruise we just got off of on Saturday, they kept the FE group open until 1 week before our cruise left and there were about 4-6 other cabins that joined in those last few weeks, which was great... the more the merrier, so we were happy to see more joined in last minute! I just picked up more gifts last minute and so did everyone else. I talked to some people in the FE group we were just part of who have done lots of FE groups before (including one couple where this was their 21st cruise ), and they said all the FE groups they have been part of never close until just a week or two before the cruise, so I was expecting to come home to this board 6 weeks before our cruise to see it was still open, so that is why I was really dissapointed to see it was already closed. But, every cruise meet does it differently, which is totally fine. :) We just waited to long...like I said, I just wanted to wait to join to make sure we liked the FE exchange... I didn't want to join the group before this past cruise we just did only to find I really didn't like it, and then pull out of this FE group after some people had already planned on us being part. Oh well.

I do see there is possibly a 2nd group started, but that just seems really too confusing and complicated to me to have two FE groups on the same cruise, so we'll just have to pass on this FE group this time. My inlaws are coming with us on the cruise (we have 2 cabins between my inlaws and our family), and I've already figured out an alternative to the FE exchange... we are going to do the 8 days of Christmas together, and my family and my inlaws are going to leave little gifts for each other each day of the cruise, and so we'll do our own little FE exchange. :) My kids are already excited about that! :cool1:

We have 2 more cruises planned past this one, so we can participate in those groups, I'm sure... I'll just make sure to sign up way in advanced! :)

Anyway, maybe we'll run into some of you on the ship! It's pretty exciting to even think about.... They started setting up the ginerbread house on the Magic during our cruise.... oh my goodness, it's going to be SOOOOOO neat you guys! I just can't wait to be on the Wonder during Christmas!

We were on the Wonder for the Panama Canal cruise, and just loved it.... after being on the Magic, I decided I like the Wonder better now after they prepped it for Alaska because the Cove Cafe (the adult only cafe) now is 2 levels with big floor to ceiling dome glass windows, and it REALLY neat to just sit in in the evenings and have a drink and look out without getting cold or blown away by the wind). :) So, I'm looking forward to being back on the Wonder!

Well, looks like everyone is preparing well for this trip! :cool1: Not too much longer, and we'll all be cruising on the Wonder!

Take care,
Kathy

Welcome Kathy. You can still join the 2nd fish exchange there is plenty of time. Even of you don't join there has been talk of a meet the first day of the cruise. I am not sure if anyone has organized it as of yet.

Glad to hear that you had fun on your cruise. I wanted to do the Caribbean for the holidays. I could only get GTY status and I need an accessible room. I didn't want to take the risk that I would not get one. As it turns out it seems I made a wise choice.

I am so excited to be taking our first cruise. I took a 4 day one many years ago before I had my boys. It will be their first time on an air plane and on a cruise. They have been on ferry boats cut never a ship. They are so excited I think they might just burst.

Travel agent got docs today, of course I HAD to have them today, so went and got them after work. Luggage tags, summary of booked excursions, and cards to hand out to relatives of how to get a hold of you , seem like the most useful items. I expected more, but still excited nonetheless:cool1:.

Yes..Just got my docs today..Just luggage tags..Is that norm..but now it feels real since this is our first cruise ever...

Ok..I am going to start my assembly line right after Thanksgiving..I have everything so far maybe just a few more items for the new people on 2nd list..I'm ready..Wait..I think im ready..:upsidedow.

We had to order more luggage as we are not used to traveling with everybody for so long.(usually just the hubby and I)..We are headed to the Grand Californian this weekend with the family and my sons friends, so happy we are passport holders..(:idea:I think I will pick up extra stuff just in case) Talk to you guys soon..

Doing the DOCs dance here today!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

33 DAYS to go!

Got mine too. I did the happy happy joy joy dance aka jig if joy as well :dogdance:.

It is a nice little book of info. I love having luggage tags, it something tangible that makes it seem more real,

FYI on Christmas Tree ideas for your stateroom:

In the arts/crafts section of Target (Michael's probably has these as well), I found a foam "Easy to Make Tree Kit". It folds in half flat (so very easy to pack), is about 15-16 inches tall, and comes with ornament and snowflake stickers to trim the tree with. Plus it's only $5.00! My kids are excited about decorating the tree for our stateroom.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

Thanks so much for the nice welcome! :) I might join the 2nd FE group... thanks for the offer. :) I will let you all know very soon.

You will love this cruise... just being on the ship is amazing!!! And, for it to be decorated for Christmas will just make it that much more magical! :thumbsup2

Another idea (a bit more expensive), but SUPER cute, and easy to pack in a suitcase if you are flying, is this:

http://www.disneystore.com/disney-s...tree&Dr=pPublished:1&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial

They were selling these on the Disney Magic last week, and I bought one. :) But, we got one of these (and got a second one for my inlaws who are traveling with us), and we'll put this in our cabin as our Christmas tree! :) For us, this is great since we are flying... I know for sure it'll make it in our suitcase without being damaged. :)

But, I noticed up until the end of today, they are giving 20% off and free shipping with an order of $75 or more! So, if you have any other Disney items to order, you could get 20% off this tree and free shipping, possibly.
