Christmas Gifts for Teens

If you have access to Costco, they sell a decent one for around $20-$30. I don't remember the brand off hand, but it often has a manufacturer coupon.

As for DD, I'm stuck. Her bday is this month and she's been kind of meh when we suggest anything. She likes the idea of Lootcrate or Lootwear. This month's theme is Magicial (Fantastic Beasts/Dr. Strange) so I might do a one month trial. So far I've purchased a Nightmare Before Christmas Dooney backpack at the outlet, grandma is getting her a peeramid reading pillow, and I found the Inside/Out infinity figures before they were discontinued. Also ordered her the illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone from Amazon.uk. Oh, and a funko pop Hermione Granger keychain and a music note thumbdrive.

She has mentioned repainting her room a few times. DH is not thrilled about the idea, but it would be a good project for Thanksgiving break and we would make cleaning up the clutter and downsizing stuff she's outgrown part of the deal. I know she'd love Amazon gift cards so she can order a dozen books, but family wants ideas for physical gifts.

Thanks for the thought on the reading pillow. Never heard of them looked it up on amazon. Is that best place to get them? Think it would hold a schoolbook or best for ipad ? I would think a book you would be reading wouldn't stay open? Meaning you would still have to hold it open vs. say watching a show on an ipad and it could just sit there? Thoughts on book staying open or is it really not for a book? thanks!

FYI....they have these at Costco. I just bought them for DD and paid $22 each.

Ah, thanks. I wanted to get her the UK version of the story. I got her book 1 last year from amazon.uk and I like them to match, lol. :)

I bought myself the eggplant color one for my recent surgery and I don't think they'll work for books. It's been great for my kindle while I couldn't use my hand. They're solid enough for an ereader or probably an ipad, but the ledge part isn't really deep enough for a real book. I didn't really compare prices to be honest. I was looking for something I could get quick right after surgery when I realized I couldn't hold my kindle.

I didn't know there was a difference. Can you tell me what the differences are, I may have to rethink my Costco purchase.....LOL

This was requested by my oldest DD today for Christmas. Makes a great stocking stuffer.

Thanks! Might have to get one for me too. :)

From what I understand, the story is the same but some terminology and slang is different. Boot instead of trunk and such. Not big changes, but she's already got the US version and I wanted something special for the illustrated. :)

For all of you other 50-somethings out there, remember that round Conair lighted makeup mirror that was so popular in our day? I wish they'd make a throwback version of that!! (But they'd probably mess it up by making it battery powered and changing to LED bulbs...)

I think that Conair mirror is still in my old bathroom in my parents' house. Seems like I should keep it and pass it down to my daughter. I guess everything old is new again!

Any thoughts or recommendations???
DD 17 has requested a "bluetooth camera". One of her friends has one that will take pictures and then they can transfer it over to their phone to post on social media. I personally don't see the need to have a bluetooth camera when she has an iPhone 6s plus that I think takes great pictures! I did a search on Best Buy and they were between $200 and $300 which puts that a little out of my price range considering the other things she has asked for. Any advice appreciated!!

As far as all my kids (DS 20, DD 17, DS 15) - - anything with the name Patagonia or Vinyard Vines on it is always welcomed. I lucked up and bought quite a few items from Patagonia back a month or so ago when they had a big sale on their website. Vinyard Vines recently ran a pretty good sale but we were a little stretched with the money at the time so I am hoping they will run another one soon.

She hasn't asked for it but thinking about getting DD a bluetooth speaker when the 30% Kohls coupon hits in a few days. I got DS one last year and he surprisingly said it was one of his best gifts. He is in college and said it works out great from making his phone alarm louder to when he is watching Netflix or playing music. I used the 30% from Kohls and it gave me a better deal than anything I could find from other places.

Does she want a camera with actual bluetooth, or wifi? (I googled and don't really see any cameras with bluetooth - just wifi - but I may have missed something. It was a quick google!)

If it is actually wifi, and you have a camera you already like well enough, then you can just get a wifi enabled SD card instead of a whole new camera: https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Flas...8&qid=1478196404&sr=1-1&keywords=wifi+sd+card (just an example)

ETA: Sorry - I do see now where Nikon has a bunch of cameras with bluetooth.

This camera has NFC and is a bit cheaper. She could use NFC to transfer from the camera to her phone too: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nikon-c...digital-camera-silver/3839098.p?skuId=3839098

DD17 loved the backstage Ecpot Behind the Seed tour. So much that I got her this aquaponics kit from costco where it allows you to grow your own herbs being fertilized by the fish. the premium one AMazon has but much less at Costco

She also loves building things and planting tc. Was thinking of a FAriy Garden? Plow and hearth have a nice one but I want to call and see if plants are included with it. Anyone have experience with Fairy Gardens to recommend a good one?

fortune cookie soaps 12 days of christmas advent calendar this year is "magical suitcase" aka fantastic beasts. everything in it is potter universe themed and it's going to be amazing. the "rum butter" scent used to be called butterbeer and omg it was a huge hit with my hp obsessed teen. i filled her whole stocking with butterbeer and polyjuice scented stuff.

I ordered this a while ago. Thank you! My HP obsessed DD will LOVE it!

I also got my DD12:
*tickets to Harry Potter Symphony concert- they play the 1st HP movie and the orchestra plays the music live with the movie
*https://www.hottopic.com/product/ha...749009.html?cgid=girls#q=harry+potter&start=7 Tis dress to wear to the concert
*HP lounge pants & sweatshirt
* couple of bathing suits and a bag for swim gear

Still need a few more things. She is so difficult to shop for since she is too old for toys and isn't into makeup or clothes yet. She already has a phone and laptop and isn't a gamer at all.

Also, any ideas on where I can find PJ onsies for teens at a reasonable price?

My sister just bought her twin an Eeyore onesie from Target! It's REALLY soft and so cute! Walmart also has some onesies, and I think I'm going to buy her the Winnie the Pooh one so they can match.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good light up make up mirror? My niece has this on her list so would like to stay in the $30 or less range.

I was looking for one for myself a while back, and if I hadn't realized that I'm usually too lazy to put on any more makeup than eyeliner, I would have bought this one. A couple of popular drag queens use this one, and I figure if it's good enough for someone whose job depends on their makeup, it should be good enough for just about anyone else.

If she's a Harry Potter fan, why not get her the Wizarding World Crate? It won't be delivered until January since it's bi-monthly, but waiting's half the excitement anyway! Definitely look for a coupon code online though since they're a bit pricey w/ shipping.

Since we're going to WDW in January, my Christmas gift for my 19-year-old sisters is going to be their airfare. I'm also planning on surprising them with some fun things from Disney Japan (like the ridiculously adorable ufufys) and cheap Disney-themed stickers and stationary goods from Taobao/Aliexpress. I might buy a couple of Korean face masks and lip products for them too since they've recently become interested in makeup (finally!).

Questions on Ipsy- do the boxes come fairly unmarked? I don't know if she's heard of Ipsy, but if I get a couple boxes before Christmas, will it be obvious from the outside that it is makeup?

Do you pay for it all at once for a year and then it's over unless you renew, or do they bill you monthly and you have to contact them to get it cancelled when a year is up?

Sorry, I just saw this. No the "pouch" is a dark purple-ish pink foil and very obvious it's Ipsy if you've seen one before, you will know it's Ipsy every time it comes in the mail. Mine is charged $10 a month on my credit card and we have had it coming for a couple years now. The foil mailer pouch fits into a normal size mailbox.

Here I just grabbed a random image from google. This is what it looks like. Edited to add that is a huge pic. Sorry I just grabbed a random one.

I've seen a few of you post you were purchasing Lush bath bombs for your daughters. I would like to get one for my daughter, but there is not a Lush store anywhere near where I live, the nearest one is in another state. I thought about ordering online, but I am going to have shipping charges added to cost. Is there a good time to purchase? Like, do they have Black Friday sales or any other sales?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that Lush only has a sale after Christmas. They don't usually offer discounts or sales. I don't usually order online so they may do a free shipping promo.
