Christmas gifts for teen boys

DS14. First year in H.S. No longer into "kiddie things". I'm really stumped on Christmas gifts for him. Can't be video games (he disobeyed....multiple times so they're gone). He's starting to show an interest in girls
(ok mom...breathe) and is hinting he wants to take her out to dinner.

I was thinking stocking stuffers like small GC's to blockbuster, McD, movies, etc.....
Stumped on what items to get him otherwise. We always get him some clothes (shirt, sweater, cool t-shirt) and in the past filled the rest with DVD's, video games, remote control toys, etc.....

HELP! (ps....need some smelling salts for this whole 'dating' thing).

I have 3 boys - ages 11, 13 and 17 so I can tell you what they like. Ipod or MP3 player, headphones, charger, car adapter, skin (protective case) etc. is a big item here. I know you said no video games, but that is huge with my boys, so that's a tough one. I agree with DVDs, CDs and music DVDs.

DS11 wants a new bike, cell phone, video games, Ipod Nano accessories, memory cards, etc.

DS13 wants the Ipod video and accessories, computer and video games, DVDs, football jerseys and football equipment (balls, UnderArmor, chin strap, etc)

DS17 wants an xbox 360 and a few games for it. Gift cards to American Eagle, Best Buy, etc.

If your DS is beginning to like girls, gift cards for the movies are great, cool clothes (American Eagle, Aeropostale, etc), cologne (Aeropostale has a nice one and Curve Wave is nice - clean fresh scents). My boys love anything Axe or Tag - body washes, sprays, etc. A nice watch - Fossil, Nike, etc. Any sports or activities he's into - basketball, skateboarding, skiing, etc. make great gifts!

You may want to let him earn back video game priveleges - it can be a good lesson, but he has to prove himself worthy. He's old enough for the responsibility - only 2 more years until he's driving (sorry).

I also have two teenage boys. We started getting them craftsman tools last year. We found a basic beginner set and we will add different sets to them each year. This year it will probably be wrenches or sockets. Not a real "fun" gift, but something that will last for a long time and that someday they can get some use for.

I agree about the travel size items, we will look for small colognes also. Good luck with the dating thing. We have a 16 year old and although he has noticed girls, he hasn't gotten brave enough to ask one out

If you have the space and it's in your budget maybe something like a pool table or air hockey. We bought DS an air hockey table last year and it's always a favorite when friends are over.

My son will be 14 in January and he EMAILED me his list... techo kids....

He is deeply into DVDs, full season TV shows, so I will get him those. He also wants an electric scooter, clothes and a DVD recorder.

I am soooo glad he doesn't like video games so none of those.

We found a reasonable air hockey table for a kids gift last year through Amazon -- only 5' but it was right around $100. It's held up well, and the kids (almost a year later) still love to play with it.

All of my teenage nephews are into playing the guitar. They all have electric guitars now and are getting pretty good. Is this an interest of his? I buy my nephews giftcards to a local guitar shop so they can buy accessories that they want or save the card towards another guitar or speakers.

Has your DS ever played Paintball? If so, he might like a paintball gun & accessories. Or, how about a Zen media player? It stores 250 hours of movies/video plus 15 thousand songs & photos. My DH (who loves his gadget toys) loves his! He downloads tons of videos and movies on his. It's so cool, that I want one for myself!

I would agree with alot of the items previously mentioned. I have a 14 year old son (freshman in high school) and this is what he might get. (keeping in mind he has an iPod and an electric guitar......he's in a band, hee hee.....and a Nintendo system)

DVD's (he likes shows like NCIS, Lost, Two and a Half men, but I would buy movies, not tv shows)

iTunes gift cards

GC's to fast food (he goes out with the guys) I plan to buy small denominations for these, so he can take one when he goes out, so if he loses it, he hasn't lost it all

GC's for Old Navy, Gamestop or Target

Nintendo games

he and alot of friends like airsoft guns

Great idea Blythep! My ds loves puttering in the garage with dh's tools.
