I want to make something to take to my friends on Christmas Eve and I want to use my new trifle bowl, but I don't know what to make. Any ideas? TIA :flower:

You could make trifle :) :rotfl:

Trifle bowl desserts are my favorite to make. use brownies, pound cake, or anglefood cake as a base, as pudding/cool whip, fruit, decorate the top a bit and voila! it looks beautiful and you are done. You can't go wrong with a layered trifle dessert.

You can make as many different layers as you like and it always looks and tastes great. They are always a hit when I make them. Trifle bowl and recipes and a few basic ingredients have become my favorite shower gifts.

This thread is making me think of the FRIENDS episode where Rachel made Trifle..The pages of the cookbook stuck together and so she made a combination of Trifle and Sheperd's Pie..

I was thinking of making the same thing, although I don't have a trifle bowl yet and I never made it before. I will buy a trifle bowl this week if I can find one. I was thinking of making a white cake mix from a box, brushing the finished cake with a little rum, cutting into cubes and layering it in the trifle bowl with a little melted seedless rasberry preserves, vanilla pudding, homemade whipped cream, and some fresh rasberries. Then I'll top the whole thing off with some white chocolate shavings. I just thought this would be a little different than the usual chocolate thing. I hope I have the time to make it!!!!

That was hysterical :rotfl:

Here's a really good & easy recipe that I use all the time!

Make a chocolate cake mix according to directions. Make two packages
of chocolate pudding according to directions. Freeze 2-4 Snickers bars. When frozen, chop Snickers bars (I use a heavy plastic bag and a hammer - good way to take our your frustrations!). Get two tubs of cool whip.

Cut the cake into quarters if round, pieces if rectangle. Alternate layers of
cake, pudding, cool whip, and candy. Be sure to have cool whip covered with
the candy.

We scoop this out of the bowl with a large spoon. It's yummy!

Orange Mandarin Truffle

1 Store made angel food cake
2 small cans of orange mandarin slices
1 pt. heavy cream
2 small pkg. Instant Vanilla Pudding
milk for pudding
Sugar
vanilla
maraschino cherries

Drain juice from the 2 cans of orange slices.
Cube cake into bite size pieces.
Make pudding according to directions on the boxes.
Make whipped cream with 1 pt. of heavy cream. Add 1/2 C sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix on high for 2 1/2 to 3 mins. until it whips up.

In a very large bowl layer cubed cake, then a layer of vanilla pudding, then orange slices arrange in a pattern of your choice, then a layer of whipped cream. Repeat to the top of the bowl. The top layer should be orange slices with a mound of whipped cream in the center and a cherry or two (or three!) on the top.

This is so good it should be illegal! :teeth:

Thanks for the replies, the chocolate cake one looks great! Now I'm having second thoughts though because my friend is diabetic. I know they always have sweets and stuff at the dinner parties, however, I would hate to offend. I'll just stick with bringing a gift instead and make the tifle just for me hehe :)

Peanut Butter Brownie Trifle Recipe

1 (21 1/2 ounce) package Deluxe peanut butter brownie mix or chocolate peanut butter brownie mix
1 (5 1/8 ounce) package vanilla instant pudding mix
3 cups milk
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup whipping cream, whipped and divided
2 1/2 cups coarsely chopped peanut butter cups
Garnish
peanut butter cups, sliced

Line a 13"x9"x2" pan with a large sheet of aluminum foil, allowing foil to extend 2" out of both ends of dish.
Prepare brownie mix according to package directions, using packets included in package.
Bake according to package directions in prepared pan.
Cool completely.
Lift foil out of pan.
Invert brownies onto cutting board; remove foil.
Cut brownies into 3/4" pieces, using a sharp knife.
Combine vanilla pudding mix and milk in a large mixing bowl; beat at low speed of an electric mixer 2 minutes or until thickened.
Add peanut butter and vanilla; beat until smooth.
Gently fold in half of whipped cream.
Set remaining whipped cream aside (about 1 cup).
Place half of brownies in bottom of a 3-quart trifle bowl; top with 1 1/4 cups chopped peanut butter cup candies and half of pudding.
Repeat layers with remaining half of brownies, 1 1/4 cups peanut butter cup candies, and pudding.
Pipe or spoon reserved whipped cream over trifle.

That looks really good

I had one at Boma on Thanksgiving last year called Gingerbread trifle and it was soo good.

My mom's trifle is delicious.

Start by layering pound cake on the bottom then a layer of vanilla pudding followed by strawberries and then whip topping. Repeat till the top. YUMMY!

Doesn't anyone put a little Christmas *spirit* into their trifle?
