Christmas Decorations

So, it occurs to me that we'll need to decorate our site when we are at the Fort Christmas week...any recommendations for sources of decorations that would be easy to transport? I've started casing Craigslist for inflatables, but no luck yet. We are pretty simple lights-in-the-windows New Englanders at home, so we don't have anything to bring along.

I would suggest just some light strings...personally I like the solar powered ones, have several strands in our camping supply tub (use them all year, not just Christmas...usually mark our tent lines with them so if anyone needs to get up for a bathroom break in the night, they don't trip on the lines). But then holiday garden flags might also be a nice touch.

Take it form some one who has spent christmas at Fort Wilderness since she was in high school you really don't have to decorate if you don't want to many of the people decorate just for fun. I know for a fact because my dad and I put up blow ups and string lights around our camper when we come for Christmas. So if you decorate just have fun doing it because its all in good fun. Also some places that would be helpful with finding the blow ups is lowes and Home depot when they put out their christmas decorations or check ebay (or so i have been told by other people that are looking for disney blow ups) and as far as regular christmas lights rope lights are good, ice cycle lights, etc. I hope you have a great time at Fort Wilderness at christmas (because I know that my family does) so I hope that yours does too. :tinker:

Thanks guys! ElseBelle, sounds like you guys love it at Christmas - I hope we do too!

We go to the Fort each year the second week of December. Last year, there were less decorated sites than in past years and it was a little disappointing. We always do some decorating and enjoy looping to see what others have on display. It's fun to put up Christmas colors and fun to check out what the neighboring campers have. We are not much for blow ups (but we do like to see them on other's sites) so for us rope lights around the ground and a few sets of christmas lights on any bushes on our site look good. We also have a revolving Christmas tree with lights in our front window. It is on day and night. A set of those big mickey hands can also be seen in our front window. It doesn't take much to brighten the holiday season.
