We are planning on either going to WDW the week before thanksgiving or the week after thanksgiving. I know that the week after should be fully decorated for Christmas what about the week before?

I'd really like to do the week before thinking the crowds should be very manageable and there should be more resort choices. We've not travelled at this time any experiences you can share will be appreciated.

The week before Thanksgiving is pretty busy and not all of the Christmas decor is in place. MK is mostly done (except for the tree which is not up until after parade taping) however, the resorts are still being done and not everything is up and running. The week immediately following Thanksgiving is pretty low crowds and ALL of the holiday offerings are available including the Osborne Lights, Candlelight Processional, MVMCP and all of the resorts are decorated, including all of the food displays (BWV, GF, BCV) My vote would be for the week after.

Other reasons for going the week after- You can go to the Very Merry Christmas Party and they usually tape the Christmas Parade the week after Christmas. We have been the week after Thanksgiving many times and by the Monday after Thanksgiving the crowds are really manageable.

We went 12/8 -12/12 last year and when we went to MK in the morning we headed over to Pirates and all of a sudden I looked around and was shocked that there was NO ONE in the street looking down towards the jungle cruise it was kind of erie! lol Enjoy

Decorations are hit and miss before thanksgiving week - if you can swing going the week after they will all be up and all the Christmas festivities as well. Early December is the best time to go to WDW IMHO - better make those reservations now though, b/c it is a very popular time w/ DVC owners!

This past year we went the week prior to Thanksgiving. We stayed at BCV. We got there on Thursday and the resort had no decorations. We woke up on Friday and the place was completely done. The decorating fairies worked fast overnight. It was so magical. We also were able to see the chefs working on the BCV Merry go Round in the lobby. All the parks were already complete with the exception of the tree in MK. We are going the same time this year..

Well, now I am wondering if the first full week of December would be better than the week after Thanksgiving!?! If I go the first full week looks like point wise I could stay an extra night!

I just booked the week of Thanksgiving. Isn't everything pretty much decorated then? I'm a teacher and with 3 teens in high school we are tied to the school schedules. We will check in the Friday before T'giving.

We stayed last year the Saturday after Thanksgiving for a week. Crowds were manageable and weather was beautiful. We saw the CP and all the resorts had full decorations (we made a point of resort hopping one day just to see the displays).
On the way home first thing my husband said after our flight took off "book it" again next year! So I did :cool1::cool1: We're heading back this year again-can't wait!
