When are all the Christmas decorations up? Do they still have it snow on main street as part of the fireworks show? If so, anyone know when that starts? We were thinking of going around Thanksgiving as we will be in Southern CA visiting family. I'm not sure if it would be better to go before Thanksgiving (Sun-Tues) or go after (Sun-Tues)? We have only been around Christmas time once and it was the week between Christmas and New Years - NEVER AGAIN! But, I think my kids would love seeing the decorations. We tend to go more in the spring or early fall and I wanted something different!

Thanks!
Alison

Decorations usually go up around Thanksgiving. I don't know about the snow, but unless you are going the week of Thanksgiving, the fireworks will most likely be shown only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights because it is the off season. So with the dates you mentioned surrounding Thanksgiving, you may only have 1 chance to see the fireworks.

The decorations actually start getting put up long before Thanksgiving. They pretty much take down Halloween and immediately start putting up Christmas stuff. For the last couple years I know they have had the big tree up on Veteran's Day weekend.

The Believe in Holiday Magic fireworks with snow begins Thanksgiving week and after Thanksgiving weekend, the fireworks are shown nightly throughout the holiday season (not just Fri-Sun).

Don't forget Holiday Mansion starts in September, so that will be up real early.

when do they usually take them down??

This year, it was January 8-10. The last day of the official holiday season was Jan 7, and they started removing decorations immediately. The tree came down on the 9th (would have been down on the 8th, but there were wind issues overnight).

I know they start putting up Christmas decorations in October. Last year, the week before Halloween, they already had all the gorgeous Christmas ornaments & lights swags draped all over New Orleans Square, ready to go for after Halloween festivities.

I just looked at them during the daytime, already thinking how pretty they looked. We were only there through October 26th, so we never saw them all lit up last year.

Hopefully we'll get to see them lit up this year though.:)

So, if we are there the Sat, Sun, Monday and Tues before Thanksgiving will they be having the fireworks with snow?

We always go November, usually the beginning and there have always been the decorations up, and snow after the fireworks.

If you go the the week before thanksgiving you will see snow at the fireworks.

What were the dates that Haunted Mansion was closed in 2007 to remove the Nightmare Before Christmas theme? We will be there Jan. 18-20, 2008 and looking forward to seeing HM for the first time. We will be disappointed if it is not open.

Last year I think the Christmas decorations were fully up around Nov 11. IIRC that was the date being advertised.
