A relative just got back from wdw. They usually go every couple of yrs during December to get the chrismas feel (starting about 89). They had a few problems but nothing serious. What they did comment about alot was about how the holiday decorations were getting fewer and fewer at the parks and the resorts.
So here is the question for folks that usually go in December. What do you think of the decorations, more, less, about the same compared to the past?

Depends on how long past. If you go back about 10 years there are definitely fewer in parks other than MK. In the early 00's there were holiday themed parades at DHS and AK, those are now gone. Way way back, the lands in MK were decorated, not just Main Street. And the absence of the Lights of Winter and tree lighting ceremony would be very noticeable in Epcot.

I think the Castle lights at MK trumps the missing Lights of Winter in EPCOT! I thoroughly enjoy the Christmas decorations at WDW!

Bumping this up to see if I can get some more responses before this post gets buried. Must be more folks out there that have visited since the decorations have been up.

I haven't visited yet this year (I'm going in very early January) but I've seen the pictures. I've been going at Christmas time off and on for many many years. Over the years, the decorations seems to have gotten less and more concentrated.

Main Street at the MK is highly decorated, and the Osbourn Lights at DHS is over the top. But as other have mentioned, Epcot has lost the Lights of Winter. With Avatarland going in, I've heard no mention of a new home for the Disney Character trees that used to be in Camp Mickey Minnie http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorize...ecorations-and-fun-at-disneys-animal-kingdom/ .

Looking at the Resort, I found this video of OKW 2012. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF-_uxQUHQc

These are some my photos for 2005.

To me, the tree looks bigger and has more decorations in 2005.

Poinsettia where used for decorations EVERYWHERE. I couldn't find a picture of it but the planting beds outside the individual buildings were planted with Poinsettia.

Additional Swags were added but the wreaths aren't as highly decorated as they were.

I couldn't vote in the poll because this is the first time we've gone during December. We were at WDW from 13-20 December. My wife made the comment, and I agreed with her, that there were less decorations than we expected. WDW usually does everything a little over the top, but the limited decorations in some of the parks or areas of the parks was obvious. On the other hand, some of the resorts were decked out pretty well. We stayed at Shades of Green and they did a wonderful job with the decorations. The Grand Floridian was beautiful, as was the Wilderness Lodge. We were also impressed with the area around where the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue takes place. All the parks had nice trees, but really just one large one. I expected more.

I live in New York and worked many, many years midtown.

When I first went to Disney in December I was underwhelmed by the amount of decorations (and fireworks) that were up. Perhaps I built it up so much un my mind but being from New York, IMO, there is just enough but not tons.

Leaving December 26 and cant wait!

Just got back from our third Dec trip...2007, 2010 and now 2014...the resorts all seemed to be as well decorated as in the past, and same with Epcot and HS. But MK had less...BUT...I will say that might have a lot to due with the location that is normally heavily decorated is under construction...the area around the Hub.

That is why I voted "less"

But I am sure once the walls are down, the next Christmas will see a return of the additional decorations.

Just bumping it up so not to get lost here. So far looks like the poll is going along the lines what I was told here by someone I know. Hope everyone there is enjoying their trip.

We were also under-whelmed by the decorations. We expected decorations at every turn and that's just not the case. Maybe it's because we decorate like the Griswold's so when we got to WDW and we had more decorations at home, we were like "is this it??".
